  • In the 23rd century machines will become the ultimate extension; the apotheosis of our frail human anatomy. / I owe a belated thanks to Toxy for his story Concept which influenced the final direction taken for this magnificent theme.

  • I was hoping for a nice tree picture but what i got strikes me very differently. It’s like a shot from another planet. The lens flare would normally have ruined it but the very nature of the flare and thestyle almost seem to add to the interplanetary mood. The pic is totally unmodified. I’d be interested in your opinion – have i been watching too much Dr Who or does it really have an air of the outer worlds?

  • Who knows what we’ll find if (when) we eventually explore other worlds? Just imagine the cans of soup these mushrooms could supply. Acrylic

  • This is almost a 2 minute exposure of the STS-116 lift off. The picture was taken from SR-520 in Cocoa Beach, FL

  • A graphic interpretation of the Cassini spacecraft currently orbiting the planet Saturn.

  • Original is 5”x7” acrylic on canvas and is SOLD. Created for the showcase of miniature art at Hooked on Colfax, Denver, CO. Copyright 2007 Collins / bryandrinkscoffee.com

  • Another piece from “The Big Coat.” This was done a few years ago. (Back when I was in my markers, ink, and anything else I can get my hands on phase). It’s not one of my absolute favorites, but I don’t hate it either. It’s sort of like plain old vanilla ice cream to me, it’s tastes fine, I’m not going to spit it out, but it would taste a heck of a lot better if it were chocolate.

  • Astronaut Buzz Aldrin on the surface of the Moon in 1969 – Original photograph by Neil Armstrong.

  • A pair of hands holding the Earth with the moon in the background. Blue Marble picture courtesy of NASA, see http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/useterms.php for terms of use

  • The base for this image was a shot I took during the infamous Thunderstorm on June 21, 2008; the only editing to that image was a lighting adjustment……the image of the Earth (The Blue Marble) is compliments of NASA…..Thank you for viewing my images. • 2007 / 8.5×11 ballpoint pen and prismacolor marker on 11×14 bristol.

  • This artwork was inspired by a speech given to the US Congress by Dr. James Hansen recently. For the past twenty-five years, Dr. Hansen has been the director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, NASA’s premiere climate research center. Dr. Hansen is also an adjunct professor of earth and environmental sciences at Columbia University. / / On the 20th anniversary of Hansen’s original congressional testimony that sounded the alarm bell on our climate crisis, the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming has hosted him again to give a briefing on his vision of the climate challenge as it stands now. / / In 1988, discussion of climate change was confined mainly to scientific journals. But on June 23, Dr. Hansen was the lead witness at a hearing of the Senate Energy Committee to explore the issue. His testimony marked the first time a top climate scientist declared that global temperatures had risen beyond the range of natural variability. Since then, scientists from around the world have built an unassailable body of evidence that supports his 1988 testimony. Climate change now looms as a more immediate and serious threat than ever before and in need of swift, effective Congressional action. / / You can download Dr. Hansen’s speech to read at the link below courtesy of Columbia University. / / Global Warming Twenty Years Later: Tipping Points Near / http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/2008/TwentyYearsLater_20080623.pdf / / / Just over a year ago, Dr. Hansen also went public with a charge that made headlines around the world. He said that the Bush administration had been trying to silence his warnings about the urgent need to address climate change. You can view this video, or read the transcript, on this interview with Dr. Hanson at the link shown below. / / Censoring Science: Inside the Political Attack on Dr. James Hansen and the Truth of Global Warming / http://www.democracynow.org/2008/3/21/censoring_science_inside_the_political_attack / / / We are ‘outta time’ in dealing with global warming, and we must all act immediately to avoid the catastrophic consequences that will otherwise occur if we fail to heed the warnings we have been given by those with indisputable expertise, such as Dr. Hansen. / /

  • Let’s see how the alien likes it when he’s the one being probed. This Planet Sucks! is a funny, whimsical view of the reversal of fourtune. Set at Area 51 this shirt is sure to be a laugh and a half. Order one for yourself or as a gift..

  • A retro style 1940/50s style rocket blasts it’s way into orbit, or maybe to the Moon or Mars in time for tea with the Martians perhaps.

  • NASA has nothing on this, the secret they are not telling you, even bigger than the face! ;) The Smoking Robot on Mars, from an original painting by Nicolette Amanda Berry.

  • Dedicated to Syd Baker for his link to the NASA site where I got the model for the lunar lander!!

  • The story behind this picture. I loved that scene from the Movie Contact where Jodie Foster lands on an Alien beach. Well I don’t have a Hollywood studio but was inspired to start exploring this area. Using Photoshop (PS) I took a recent shot of Felpham Beach in West Sussex, flipped it in PS. I then took an older shot I captured of the Palm Trees in Laguna Beach, California …when I lived out there and with a little help from NASA and Hubble arrived at this combined creation. I think it is kinda cool to take a beach in the UK and a beach in California and fuse the two. I am rather surprised how many views and comments this has had since posting and I would like to thank everyone for their comments!

  • Color pencil on 11×17 20 weight copy paper sprayed with lacquer The X-15 being carried to the launch point by the mothership a B-52. The X-15 program helped America learn more about the effects of outer space and the impact it can have on aircraft or spacecraft. The lessons learned while flying the X-15 helped to pave the way for the SR71 Blackbird (Super fast spy plane) and the Space Shuttle Program.

  • Open the pod bay doors Hal…this took me fekkin ages to draw in Corel.

  • My Hero An homage to my hero. This piece probably has no meaning to anyone beyond my family and close family friends. But I wanted to post it. I have been inspired by other artists’ tributes to their respective fathers or grandfathers. Thanks for looking. • No one alive will ever see this again! / I know that I won’t be getting much sleep in August, as my eyes will be on the skies to witness the red planet up close and personal. / Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. It is guesstimated, the next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. / Due to the way Jupiter’s gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again. / The encounter will culminate on August 27th, when Mars comes within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the Moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide, at a modest 75 power magnification. / Mars will look as large as the full Moon to the naked eye and will be easy to spot at the beginning of August as it rises in the east at 10pm and reaching its azimuth at 3am. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 am. / Truly a sight that no human being has seen in recorded history, so mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see and watch Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month… / Mars is the security department head, responding with action and self-defense, making you brave, courageous, daring and even fearless, symbolically speaking. Mars placement in your natal birth chart describes how you act on your own behalf. In the body, Mars rules the head, representing SELF; the blood, representing your expressing and receiving; and, muscles representing our ability to move in life. Mars is in charge of how you assert yourself and how you express anger, the side of you that initiates all activity. In astrology, Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio, as the symbol of an aggressive man, personified as the Roman God Mars, the Greek God Ares, or the Mesopotamian God Nergal helmeted with a shield and sword or spear, perhaps mounted, sometimes with a wolf, and all associated with the energies of violence, courage, ardour, tension, fire, iron, the color red, the South direction and Tuesday. / Life on Mars? / Nasa photo of Earth and Mars (wikipedia) edited in photoshop7 with Fractilius filter (Redfield plug-in), saturation and lens flare rendering. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE SKIES! Thanks to CJ for the reminder too ;)

  • This is my response to those who persist with conspiracy theories about NASA faking the moon landing…

  • The Endeavour space launch seen from Titusville, Florida in March 2008.
