  • I crossed paths with this handsome young buck in velvet while hiking deep in the woods of Cades Cove, Smoky Mountains, Tennessee, USA. He seemed to be such a gentle creature, enjoying the new leaves of spring. He allowed me to photograph him for quite a while, as long as I stood very still. He always kept one eye on me as he enjoyed the tender vegetation. Other works in the Cades Cove Collection: Check out these other great animal cards: (Simply Click on the thumbnail to purchase!)

  • Beinn na Caillich blanketed in autumn bracken and grasses.

  • When it comes to military aviation photography, shots like these are just “it” as far as I’m concerned. Look at that vapor around the trail edge of the wing, is that not awesome?

  • Lochan na h-Achlaise and Black Mount on Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Scotland. Shot on a calm but moody morning in early November.

  • postwork (mostly convrsion to sepia, bleacing and darketing) done in Corel Painter, webs added to highlight the slow motion of the air

  • This Hawai’ian womans eyes remind the viewer of Pele, the Fire Goddess of Hawai’i. Although she is the creator of our land, you must not cross her path, with ill intentions, or you will pay a price.

  • (no tripod, no treatment) / New Year’s Eve 2008/2009 / Portugal /

  • This was the moment I was hoping for after eleven very strenuous miles on a muddy, narrow trail. We photographers go fishing every day, mostly we get nibbles, but sometimes we land a whopper. I am so proud of this image because I went out to shoot this scene very intentionally. It was very hard work, and this will pay off. The Na Pali Trail winds along the steep and rugged coastline of Kauai’s North shore, and ends in the legendary Kalalau Valley—the place is nearly mythical in its beauty.

  • Kaua’i, Hawaii. I’ve been to this under-rated island the first time for our honeymoon in 2004. When we took on the difficult 11-mile Kalalau Trail, I knew that wasn’t the last time I’ll be walking its deliciously muddy path. In 2008, I found myself tromping the same slick trail. It was as beautiful and rewarding as I remembered it to be. The best part of that hike? The chance to share it with our son (then 7 months old) who was such a trooper in his backpack carrier. I took this shot with him squirming behind me, eager to see what the fuss was all about ;)

  • Premo’s old fashioned beats with flavor.

  • i ‘Okika Honohono / Lovely Orchids blooming at Bully and Kappy’s home / Hana Maui Hawai’i There are many wonderful websites with information on Orchids. There are many groups, clubs and societies and over 20,000 varieties. Many orchids have succulent characteristics. They store water and nutrients in pseudobulbs, leaves and/or other parts of their anatomy. Fresh orchids and other tropical flowers create a unique tropical atmosphere perfect for a traditional or modern wedding theme here on Maui and are very beautiful woven into Haku Lei. Hardy terrestrial orchids include some the rarest & showiest perennials for the garden. These deciduous plants are indigenous to the temperate zones Eurasia and North America. They require woodland conditions for cultivation, preferring shade to part-shade and rich, well-draining soil; somewhat moist. Hardy orchids bloom at 3 – 6 years of age, depending upon the species. • . . Kalalau Stream and Spires / . Paddling the Na Pali coast to Kauai’s Garden of Eden may save time, feet and back, but experiencing the ancient Hawaiian 11–mile cliff trail to Kalalau is the most fulfilling. Every corner of this arduous trek has a new breathtaking vista that serves only to lighten that heavy pack. . featured on YOUTUBE . . . .

  • Ruined church at Dunlewey, Co. Donegal. Nikon D200 & 18-200 VR

  • 2009 NAS Oceana Airshow. Despite the overall lousy weather, I managed to get a few keepers. Here is a nice vapor burst around the 30yr Anniversary Marine F/A-18 Hornet.

  • Sron na Creise, from a waterfall near the ‘Kingshouse’ Hotel. / competition winner in ’ digital photography’ magazine

  • Glencoe, early morning sun from the river beside the ‘Kingshouse’ hotel

  • The Iconic tree on Rannoch Moor looking on to Black mount

  • Taken on the same morning as the previous upload of Buachaille Etive Mor , this time looking in the opposite direction . While waiting for the mist to lift from the Buachaille and for a bit of light to break through , I noticed there was some nice effects on the mountains behind. The pictire lacks a bit of the colour and light we got later on from the Buachaille , but I think it captures that moody, brooding feel that Scotland often has . Thankyou so much for all your great comments yesturday and sorry I can’t answer everyone induvidually! Canon 400D , sigma 10-20mm , Lee filters F16 iso 100 . Raw
