  • A storm front approches a small boat off Narrabeen . The front developed a double cloud as it passed over the ocean . Photoshop was used but only auto levels . This image has been on the front page of the Telegraph & in a weather calander .

  • I believe this was my first early wake up to go out and shoot a sunrise seascape. Only a couple of weeks back we were at Narrabeen with friends. It was a late afternoon and I just could not believe the colour. I was determined to come back with my camera. That particular morning was just magic. Perfectly still, mild and the colours did not dissapoint. • an unknown surfer pulling into one of the best waves I have had the pleasure of witnessing / Noth Narrabeen / NSW / 2007

  • This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here

  • This morning was a gorgeous morning to be up and about…. 5AM and I was wondering the rocks of North Narrabeen in just a T-shirt. Not a cloud in the sky, not a puff of wind, hardly a swell in sight. Not the best conditions for seascape photography, but a lovely morning to be up and about enjoying the Spring weather. Did manage to take this photo of North Narrabeen Rock Pool. Love the old textured planks around the pool.

  • North Narrabeen tidal pool on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Shot at 18mm; 30sec; f/11; ISO100

  • The Tidal pool at north Narrabeen beach in Sydney.

  • Early morning, North Narrabeen Pool.

  • Rocks off Narrabeen Pool

  • I could see the wave coming and was able to hit the shutter button just before grabbing the camera and running to high ground. Taken: Narrabeen, Sydney, Australia / Canon 30D, Sigma 10-20mm, Lee Filters / 1/4 sec | f/22 | 10 mm

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER Narrabeen Lakes are tidal lakes that empty into the Pacific, it is crossed by two road bridges, this one which is nearest the entrance. Taken after dawn perfect relections on the water, caught my attention as the reflection of the bridge span looks like a second deck. Equipment: Nikon D300 Nikon 18-200mm lens / 5exposuresbracketted processed in photomatix

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER Yes the reflections are natural, no photoshop or digital manipulation except mother natures North Narrabeen lies on the northern shores of Narrabeen lagoon, bounded by Warriewood to the north, Elanora Heights to the west and extends east to the ocean at Turrimetta Beach. Narrabeen is opposite on the southern shore of the lagoon. The first land grants were made to John Lees, 40 acres, Philip Schaffer, 50 acres, and James Wheeler, 80 acres, along the south bank of Mullet Creek. Alex Macdonald was granted 80 acres at the beach in 1815 and west of this land JT Collins had 93.5 acres by 1857. During the nineteenth century travellers had to ford the lake until 1880 when the first bridge opened. A second bridge at the mouth of the lagoon in Ocean Street was built in 1925 This shot was taken at sunrise, i was driving across and caught the reflections out of the corner of my eye, needless to say I had my camera with me. The reflections were fantastic especially the clouds and the single span of the bridge looking like a double span. Narrabeen Lakes are a tidal fed this shot is the second bridge closest the the lakes entrance. Located around 30 kilometres from the Sydney CBD, a must if visting Sydney is to travel the Northern Beaches of Sydney, great at any time of day but glorious when there is a wonderful sunrise or sunset ….. MAGIC

  • The North Narrabeen Rockpool is one of the largest rockpools in the Sydney region. It consists of two pools, one 50m by 18m lap pool, enclosed in a 70m by 40m wading pool. The boardwalk that separates the two pools is a well known icon. / The pool is a fantastic location and is very photogenic. / This image is also available in a high contrast black and white called Into The Darkness. EXIF / Date: 17/09/2008 / Time: 6:06am / Aperture: f/16 / Shutter: 4 seconds / ISO: 200

  • Waves crashing over the rocks at Narrabeen in Sydney’s northern beaches. The weather was a bit rough this morning and the tides were rising pretty fast, my feet, legs and tripod got drenched while taking this shot, but it is all part of the fun.. EXIF / Date: 17/09/2009 / Time: 6:28am / Aperture: f/22 / Shutter: 3 seconds

  • Another image from my series of photos taken during my recent trip to Narrabeen at sunrise. / I love the old boardwalk that separates the pools here, it has so much character and the texture and colour of it is such a great contrast to the surrounding water. EXIF / Date: 17/09/2008 / Time: 6:21am / Aperture: f/22 / Shutter: 3.6 seconds / 0.6 Soft Grad ND used.

  • Another shot from the edge of the rocks at Narrabeen facing the incoming tide.. I love the way the water swirls around through the rocks and looks like fog with the longer exposures. EXIF / Date: 17/09/2008 / Time: 6:29am / Aperture: f/22 / Shutter: 1.8 seconds

  • North Narrabeen pool Sydney in the early morning on a cold and miserable day.

  • Narrabeen just after sunset / Sydney-NSW / Canon 400D / Cokin ND Filter / ISO:100 / Exposure:1 Min 45sec / F/Stop:5.6 I never really feel experienced when it comes to processing landscape images! / Not sure this is overly great but ill post it anyways…any help or advice would be greatly appreciated :D / Cheers

  • I decided to get up early and get to North Narrabeen Pool again. I photographed it a fortnight ago and there wasn’t much a sunrise so I hoped that the some little clouds that I spotted at 5am will provide enough colour for possibly beautiful sunrise. Wrong! This morning definitely wasn’t designed for a photography. When I arrived to my destination, which is by the way only 15 min from my work (and almost an hour from home), I was met by a gail wind from the see with a speed of probably around 40 km/h and gusts up to 60km/h or more! (I checked the web later) The pool looked like this. / It was high tide as well, the waves were crashing onto the pool and roared themselves across and over the sidewalk! At first I tried to hide myself and the camera from the wind behind that rock wall but there were not much of a view. So later I climbed up and perched myself on that cliff, almost away from the wind and with a high view on the pool, hoping that the wind will slow down, or I will see sun rising regardless of the wind. I battled the wind, and a sea spray, and took few shots. I noticed few locals coming for their usual morning swim. Today all but one turned away! Yes, today wasn’t very good for a photography. Nor for the Lee filters. Being large and rectangular they make very good flying objects! As a result I need to place a new order for a filter and process a number of photos. Thank you for looking!
