This is a poem I wrote about a girl I had a crush on when I was 18 years old. I wrote it in a card and gave it to her for her birthday, but alas it was not long after that I realised what I harboured for her was a naive, idealistic crush, and not a hope :)

I had to write a poem in response to a question in an assignment, I am currently doing my HSC. In the poem it talked about a show and tell day at a primary school and the class had to bring in something collectible from any war their grandparents had been in, if they had any. One child bought in a grenade to pass around. So the poem is about naivety relating the real effects of war and how young people in our country don’t really understand the full impact of war and its brutality.
Film, with flash. Love the little girl’s naivety, which is seldom to see among children here. She made the photo. Hope there will be more of this naivety.
