  • I AM NOT AN ARTIST I AM JUST A MAN WHO PAINTS.L.S.LOWRY).... I have been painting as an amateur artist on and off for many years.I have over the years developed a very unusual use of colour and content, which I now know from experience appeal to many people, Including individual collectors and dealers. Newcastle upon Tyne England has been a hotbed of heavy Industry since the beginning of the industrial revolution, most of which has now gone forever. A lot of my paintings are recollections of youthful images of the period, late 1940s and 1950s. They are inspired by local naïve and primitive pitmen artists I am also an admirer of L.S.LOWRY, and the great American artist EDWARD HOPPER .AND GRANMA MOSES among others. • The postbox from my original acrylic painting digitally enhanced

  • I have a collection of my daughters drawings from over the years. I picked out some from Alex’s first two years at school, ( because at the moment she’s drawing aliens), which I’ve digitally collaged and painted as true to her colours as I could.

  • Right. Let me give an explanation for putting this one up - I have been tossing up whether or not to do this design for the last month. I know its pushes the bad taste boundaries & I don’t want to be known as a ‘smutty’ artist, however every time I thought about it I did laugh & thats my goal – to make people laugh. So for the sake of humour I decided to go for it. Enjoy

  • Created on New Years Eve 2008. Possibly in anticipation of the New Years festivities. Available direct from the artist as a signed limited edition print.

  • Acrylic in canvas 12” x 12” Inspiration for this has come from looking at “Molas”. / “Mola” means “shirt” or “clothing”. The mola originated with the tradition of Kuna women painting their bodies with geometrical designs, using available natural colours; in later years these same designs were woven in cotton, and later still, sewn using cloth bought from the European settlers of Panamá. Molas have their origin in the body painting. Only after the colonization by the Spanish and contact with missionaries the Kuna started to transfer their traditional geometric designs on fabric, first by painting directly on the fabric and later by using the technique of reverse application. It is not known for certain when this technique was first used. It is assumed that the oldest molas are between 150 and 170 years old. I was drawn by their bold use of bright colours and stylied shapes. / I have started to design my own ‘molas’ using my favourite creatures. Also my brother asked me recently to paint a picture(s) suitable for his conservatory. The theme was supposed to be South American … but it has turned out Central American. Anyway, I found tem most enjoyable to create.
