Sunrise is one of the most beautiful times of day; it seems to add a bit of mystique to the most ordinary things like this lone tree bereft of leaves on a chilly morning.

This shot was taken at Golden Bay in Ghajn Tuffieha, Malta. The ‘Spirit’ was previously shot as part of a sculpture; then cropped, modified and added on in Photoshop. I re-sized and rotated the picture and moved it around till I found its ‘niche’. © Astrid Pardew – Malta 2008

Taken at castlerigg Stone Circle January 2009. Snow during the night had coverd the distant hills of the Lake District with a frosting of white and the water with a covering of ice. 30 second exposure before sunrise.

Another one of my ‘un-sketched’ artworks. I have been having fun just letting my paint-brush control me, instead of the other way around. / Not too sure what the brush is saying here…...... It is somehow an ice-cave, with a ‘fire-bird’ watching as the ‘thought-bubbles’ gently rise up to the surface, only to be turned into ice and gently rain on down again for the whole process to begin over once more…..... rather like my life at the moment I guess.
