Another ratty Infrared photo shot with a battered old Olympus OM1 while zooming around in a little zodiac in the frozen oceans of the Antarctic Peninsular. Another mysterious something captured in the clear blue sky and found later on the negative. Not going to put in the big rant this time. But I do believe that there are signs of the gods all around us should we choose to just open ourselves to them. Could this be one of them? Who knows but its certinally a strange thing to find hovering about in the sky and I for one am open to alternative explainations of what it may be or might symbolize….....:)

This is my last big/little image upload of Infrared landscapes from the daniland series of photographs. This mysterious little scene was shot very early one morning before the heavy enveloping fog had been burnt off by the approaching heat of the day. The fog has shrouded these little trees so densely that if seems like a magical and mysterious scene from a sci-fi movie shot somewhere on an another planet. Walking through the heavy fog in this beautiful heavily forested area is certainly an amazing and magical experince and this particular photo comes as close the the reality of how that feels.

Just lately I’ve been having a nice time posting all sorts of random things for all sorts of distracted reasons and thats been lots of fun. But time to run another series across the screens of bubbleland…..and that can only mean Infrared images are coming up. I love the dark and mysterious light that can be inticed into being with B/W infrared film…. and yes all my IR work is done the old fashioned way with film….. Kodak High Speed Infrared film to be exact. This particular series was shot in Sydney some years ago at the old Reschs site on Lachlan Street as it was being demolished to make way for a new housing development in the inner city. I was fascinated with the destruction of all the old buildings and how the hidden backs of structures of were revealed by the rolling waves of demolition. This urban landscape of ruined reality and brand new dreams set in the piles of rubble took on a profoundly mysterious atmosphere and became a landscape setting suitable for colonization by the imagination…...hence the title of the series…..Landscape for Orson Wells….. this one is the first and its the very corner of a building that no longer exists…. except in this photo…..... so it can now be a building anywere you fancy it to be and it can signify any thing that you the viewer would like it to mean…....

The Flat Earth Society / “The facts are simple,” says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. “The earth is flat.” He believes that the main purpose of the space program is to prop up a dying myth—the myth that the earth is a globe. “Nobody knows anything about the true shape of the world,” he contends. The sun and moon, in the Johnson version, are only about 32 miles in diameter. They circle above the earth in the vicinity of the equator, and their apparent rising and setting are tricks of perspective, like railroad tracks that appear to meet in the distance. The moon shines by its own light and is not eclipsed by the earth. Rather, lunar eclipses are caused by an unseen dark body occasionally passing in front of the moon. Johnson’s beliefs are firmly grounded in the Bible.

In modern English, the term ghost ship has come to stand for at least one of three separate definitions, all of which involving unexplained circumstances. Historically, the term has been used to refer to reported sightings of apparitions over water that have appeared in the form of maritime sailing ships, often after having previously been known to have sunk, or to derelict vessels found floating with no crew. In fiction, ghost ships have often been vessels crewed by some manner of spectral beings. Full Moons are traditionally associated with temporal insomnia, insanity and various magical phenomena such as lycanthropy. Psychologists, however, have found that there is no strong evidence for effects on human behavior around the time of a full moon. They find that studies are generally not consistent, with some showing a positive effect and others showing a negative effect (hence the terms lunacy and lunatic) Many neopagans hold a monthly ritual called an Esbat at each full moon, while some people practicing traditional Chinese religions prepare their ritual offerings to their ancestors and deities on every full and new moon

Arrested Expansion is a symbolic scene that depicts a combination of self-excluding objects that might not be present in real life. Objects in the secluded room make the viewer feel claustrophobic and unreal, which might be compared to someone’s mental delusion based on a medical condition. Image is a mixture of photo stock with some 2D vectors, and 3D objects. Photoshop, 3ds max, Illustrator. / The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. When a contraction happens, blood is pumped. But in ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals that control the pumping of the heart suddenly become rapid and chaotic. As a result, the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, begin to quiver (fibrillate) instead of contract, and they can no longer pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If blood cannot flow to the brain, it becomes starved of oxygen, and the person loses consciousness in seconds. Mindscape is a mental or psychological scene or area of the imagination. The word is most suitable to the filed of psychology. Mindscape has two words combined in such a way that the meaning goes beyond it – Mind and Escape… It can be translated as a Mind that wants to escape or a Mind that is in route of escaping. This adventure can be in the sense of reality or in spiritual world. / Depression sufferers escape from facts, hallucinates escape from reality, psychotics and neurotics escape from many other forms of life. We usually state that they are people who require help so that they can live an ordinary life. But who is to decide what is normal and what is abnormal? If ones can see the other side of horizon, according to them they deem the facts strongly that they hold about life, oneself and reality. They believe they are the right ones who are amongst wrong people. Are you one of them? I tend to assume we all are, one way or another. I’m preparing a new body of work for exhibiton later in the year and am working out ways to present these images. Yesterday I posted a single image muted landscpe #2 in order to invite some responses to the way I preparing the indivdual images with a very muted colouring and now today I’m posting a pair of images in a way that will replicate the way I want to present them. I’m thinking that I would do either three or four pairs of linked images individually framed but hung together in a series of pairs so that they will sort of look like this one….... Each photograph will be printed at around 20×24 inches and then with the matting and framing I estimate each pair will need about 2 metres of wall space for hanging. Let me know what you all think while I’m open to suggestions with this body of work and I’ll listen to all suggestions….... ta muchly in advance…...

“The Visitor” is part 5 of the story of four friends who set out for a Christmas weekend in the country and land themselves in a frightening adventure..the first four chapters can be read by clicking on the links on the images seen below Watercolour on Arches Not Paper I froze, not daring to breathe, and slowly turned to see if one of us had gone out, but in the darkness of the room I could see the faint outline of three shapes…then if it wasn’t us, who was it? / At that moment Dahlia who was lying right next to me, chose to wake up and seeing the door open, was about to exclaim out loud…I clapped my hand over her mouth and the two of us stared mesmerized at the figure in the doorway…then suddenly and silently as it had appeared, it turned and vanished… we sat for what seemed like hours, afraid to move…finally as the skies began to lighten, I rose and went to the door…a hurried look outside showed that the storm had abated, and the sun was beginning to rise…no one was about and there were no footsteps leading to and from the bothy… / I turned back to find that the men were stirring and exclaiming over a stack of wood, some milk and bread, that were standing near the hearth….Dahlia and I exchanged a look and quickly cried in unison, “we must have overlooked them last night”…she and I were the only ones who knew about our night visitor and for once in accord, decided to keep silent…... / After we had something to eat, we would have to plan our next move…that is if we could move at all…we were marooned.... / Mark / The Bothy / The Grove / Lost / A Weekend in the Country
