Carved By Nature’s Wrath / The 12 Apostles, Victoria Following a day of torrential rain and gale force winds, the sun shone momentarily, lighting up the moody sky, before plunging the rugged coastline into complete darkness. As night falls, a solitary waterfall is all that remains of the passing storms, returning the much needed rain to the swollen seas of the shipwreck coast. Unfortunately the skies here in the desert are mostly hazy and full of sand and dust! There are not too many days when there are clear horizons with clouds, and to be able to catch a sunrise like this was just excellent! Located in Libya towards the Algerian border. / /

Dominating the picture, the large lilly is accompanied by his little friend. In the background, the geodesic lines of the botanical dome are disrupted by a solitary ripple, throwing them into chaos. These refugee’s were traveling to Chad via Niger and stopped near our rig site to make repairs to their truck. After giving them water food and milk for the women, babies and children, they were gracious enough to let me take some shots. They still had 1000km to travel at this point…......Life is sometimes very cruel! Unfortunately i could not get any better shots of the women and children as they were safely nestled up on top. / Shot in the Sahara desert, Libya. / Nikon D300, 24 – 120mm at 58mm, f18, 1/250, ISO 200. / / . / / . /

“The warning came too late…..no place to hide. We were down by the beach taking happy holiday snaps when the ocean started to recede. It took me a moment or two to realise what was about to happen. Everyone started to panic…..I could hardly hold a thought in my head with the sound of my heart beating and the adrenalin pumping through my veins. Then I remembered the cave we discovered at the end of the beach yesterday. That would be our only hope as we started to run. As we entered the cave I took one last look as the Tsunami hit….” Macro photograph taken from a palm tree, overcast day, camera set on aperture priority. Macro photography of bark, rocks and flowers are my passion. Always looking for that special ‘something’ thats a little bit different. Hope you enjoy my story and photograph!

Took this macro photograph with aperture priority, late in the afternoon, it was getting quite dark so I used a flash on this shot! Just love Palm tree bark, this one had been burnt at some stage creating the charcoal sections. I have a few more fascinating photos which I will be uploading soon! / My passion is macro photograhy. I love to find hidden landscapes and abstract art in the bark of trees or in rocks. I also am quite partial to macro floral photography! Macro photograph taken from a rock on the Northern Gold Coast, Qld! Taken with aperture priority, slightly adjusted contrast to make the natural colours pop out! Makes a wonderful nature abstract! This Rock Art Series was taken from the same rock, I really don’t know why these rocks had such unusual colours. I believe they may have been mined from Tamborine Mountain which is famous for its “Thunderegg” rocks. Rocks shaped like large eggs and when you cut them open reveal amazing colours and crystals! Macro photography is my passion, I love to photograph mostly bark, rock and flowers!! / /
