I am an Irish born Missionary living in London I spend much time living with the Kambari tribe, I get to know first hand the challenges they face each day just to survive. I also have the privilege of capturing not only hunger, sickness and often death, but the more happy occasions. This is Grace, and when I first met Grace in April 2007, she was suffering from Chronic Malnutrition. This was taken in December 2007, and the difference is wonderful. Philadelphia Mission a British registered Charity [Reg No:1049410] depend on People like yourself, who donate time in Prayer and Finance to help us provide help and support for Grace and many others like her. My favorite pair of headphones—lucky shot in a second hand shop in Fitzroy, Melbourne a few years ago. They have super powers! / I turned the headphone into a stencil for a Blue King Brown single cover (‘Stand Up’ 2007) and here it is as a shirt now, dripping the beats. Yay! Someone (not from RB) remarked that they didn’t like the way I photographed my children in such dark tones and they felt children should be photographed in colour – they felt it captured childhood better – maybe they have a point – but I photograph this way to try and capture either a timelessness or the spirit of the moment – anyway, I haven’t listen and i have made an earlier image even darker – just did a bit of dodging and burning.
