Mussel Pool is part of the Bennett Brook, which originates from a superficial ground water aquifer. It is home to a wide variety of species, such as tortoises, gilgie, western minow and these magical melaleucas. Location: Mussel Point Daly City / Technique: HDR (High Dynamic Range) / . / Featured in Group: / “Northern California Style” – March 8, 2009 / “A Beautiful Blur” – March 8, 2009 / . After watching an episode on the National Geographic channel on earthquakes, I was looking forward to shooting this location. But with bad luck lingering around me that day it sure made it difficult: / 1. Forgot the connecting plate for my ball head so I was about to go “3Podless” / 2. Desperately seeking a Photo shop in Frisco to purchase a new ballhead. / 3. Finding parking in Downtown Frisco was darn near impossible. / 4. Getting lost on my way to my 1st location tested my breaking point. / 5. And last but not least, removing my old ball head to install the new one took well over 30 mins. With the sun setting in the backround my mood for shooting that day was quickly diminishing. Mussel Point is located in Daly City just north of Pacifica along Highway 1. It is where the San Andreas fault line meets land and just runs straight down to Southern Kali.

A rock surface at low tide reveals a wall of mussels clinging to the surface, waiting for the water to climb once more. Wilson’s Promintory, Victoria, Australia
Couldn’t resist the textures and contrasts of this scene of, literally, thousands of mussels huddled together on the rocks at the Knoydart Pennisula, west coast of Scotland
Taken in Whiteman Park’s Mussel Pool today (6thAug) The sun was out and not too many people about, mind you the place is heavily populated on the weekend!

This design was inspired by listening to my old tapes from school days. “Annie Get Your Gun” was a single released by the New Wave band Squeeze in 1982.

Reflection on the water, reflection on the past. Like many West Aussie families in the 70’s, we liked to picnic at Mussel Pool. I don’t remember the park in detail, but on a recent visit, a sense of familiarity rose. Memories of inky water, dancing light and children laughing. Our greatest adventures were in our minds, acted out on the grassy banks of the pool. Shot on the same day as “Ripples, reeds, reflections” For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

The beach at Bedruthan Steps is home to many sea creatures, mussels, whelks and molluscs that cling to the sea washed rocks at the foot of the cliffs.
From my Alternate Worlds series, 2006. Greeting Card format.
These mussels were located on the beach at the The Oregon House at low tide. They were covering all the rocks along the the sea stars and other creatures. They looked awesome and I couldn’t resist. Edith This was taken wtih my Fuji S3100 and is straight from the camera.
When out rockpooling during the spring low tide today I came across a rock – like every rock – covered in baby mussels. One difference, however, was that it had a shape like half a starfish that was just clean rock. A starfish must have been there for ages, when the mussels formed, and then either got eaten, or moved of its own accord. / Taken at Sidmouth Beach, by Jacobs Ladder
