Salute to Mike Oldfield music
This is me.. flying through the sky… ahum… yeah okay.. / so this is me, taking a picture of myself, with the beautiful sky as background. / this picture is taken on Saturday (June 28th, 2008), at the metal-festival Graspop in Dessel (Belgium). / I’ll post something on this event in my diary here in RB when I have more time.

...from the song by the same name on a Wang Chung recording. Thanks to Kriss for the link and a tip that may have got me some kick[butt] music gigs (and corrected the title of this post and the song. LOL

This little quote popped into my head while I was watching a fantastic sunset the other night. Just that little voice that tells you things occasionally. / I liked it; I think its a nice thing for my head to be saying in its spare time (wow that makes me sound a bit…odd…) / The picture is one of my most beautiful nature pictures, I think anyway. If you like any of my other pictures and think I should put the quote on them, say. / Also say if you think I’m turning into one of those people who takes kinda nice photographs, does nice paintings, then gets ps and ruins everything by making really rubbish, tacky graphic work, I swear I won’t be offended!
Along with summers come humid storms… / Along with humid storms come insects… / Along with insects come birds… / Along with birds come music, music of nature, music of Africa. My image was made for this song… / Piers Faccini – A Storm Is Going To Come / Black crows circling up above / Crying out, “Do you hear that sound?” / I never thought it’d come to this / Paradise razed to the ground Sometimes I don’t sleep at night / I hear the wind in the moaning trees / I wonder how my child will fare / With wars and bombs and thieves / The thunder has begun Some are blind, but choose to see / Lies into the truth they weave / Some put their trust in faith / Some say, “I don’t believe” But each man unto himself / Is an island in a raging sea / We’re the boat to anchor or sail / Of the two, which will it be? / The thunder has begun / A storm is gonna come Who’s the one now watching you? / Who says your rights are wrong? / When the preacher and the judge align / A change is coming, it won’t be long We may have burned a bridge too far / We may have run ourselves too far / When you look into the mirror, friend / What is it that you want to ask? / The thunder has begun Dear Father, when you left me here / You lay your head in eternal sleep / You told me, oh, that all remains / Love is all we have to keep Black crows circling up above / Crying out, “Do you hear that sound?” / I’d never thought it’d come to this / Paradise razed to the ground / The thunder has begun A storm is gonna come (Find a haven, find a shelter) / A storm is gonna come (Find a port, find a harbor) / A storm is gonna come (Find a friend, find a lover) / A storm is gonna come (Find a sister, find a brother) These are swallows that inhabit the bridge over which i was crossing, they were catching flying ants that were coming with the rain. Lyrics to Angel by Judas Priest.
A little nostalgia for those that remember, The Hit Song by Johnnie Ray and the Four Lads from 1951. I went walking down by the river / Feeling very sad inside / When all at once I saw in the sky / The little white cloud that cried. He told me he was very lonesome / And no one cared if he lived or died / And said sometimes the thunder and lightning / Make all the little clouds hide. He said, “Have faith in all kinds of weather / For the sun will always shine / Do your best and always remember / The dark clouds pass with time.” He asked me if I’d tell all my world / Just how hard those little clouds try / That’s how I know I’ll always remember / The little white cloud that sat right down and cried. This one of my experiments with acrylics on Mont Marte Gesso primed canvas sheets. / It is inspired by the recent storms often around sunset and often coloured dramatically. The frame represents the window I was looking out of. I am just learning to layer the paint, mostly I have used the paint as bg for digitally created works. More than 50 raindrops. Musical Inspiration: I truely appreciate the honour given by the Raw art Group in featuring this pic. / Many thanks to the hosts of the Experimental group for featuring my work, their encouragement is highly valued. /
