Some characters I used to spend a lot of time with in Sydney put themselves together to release an album called Out of town on a horse called Thursday. this is from said album launch & they are CooknKitch and Monk Fly. I was captivated by this frame for the reflection of the subject in the background and spent a good ten minutes of the set waiting to get this shot. The sweat dripping from his face adds to the intensity which is very much in tune with the style of this guys music.

Experimenting with a very simple vintage effect … if you like it, I’ll post a tutorial. The process requires layers and while I did it in photoshop, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work in Elements. It is very effective on portraits also. Tutorial is posted here Third Place in Digital Manipulation section at 123rd Castle Hill Agricultural Show March 2009 Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

Australian Aboriginal performer playing the didgeridoo. Original image taken in Darling Harbour, Sydney – texture layers added. / Candid Shot The didgeridoo is played with continuously vibrating lips to produce the drone while using a special breathing technique called circular breathing. This requires breathing in through the nose whilst simultaneously expelling stored air out of the mouth using the tongue and cheeks. By use of this technique, a skilled player can replenish the air in their lungs, and with practice can sustain a note for as long as desired. 10 DIDGERIDOO FACTS / 1. Possibly the world’s oldest musical instrument / 2. A wind instrument originally found in Arnhem Land, Northern Australia. / 3. Is made from limbs and tree trunks hollowed out by termites (insects). / 4. Is cut to an average length of 1.3 metres and cleaned out with a stick. or hot coals. / 5. Was used as an accompaniment to chants and songs. / 6. Produces a low-pitch, resonant sound with complex rhythmic patterns. / 7.
