40cm x 45cm acrylics and collage on canvas. As yet another art course project for tafe, our imaginative lecturer wanted us to take 2 masterpieces by high profile artists and imagine, metaphorically if they’re were to be married and to have a child, paint what that child would look like! We could either make them not work together purposely to make a statement or blend them into a new image. This is man ray’s woman with cello ‘f’ holes and one of Kurt Shwitters’ collages (mostly painted but also collaged). At first i didn’t like this too much but after I got stuck into it I fell in love and this has been my favorite painting of mine ever since.

Weary Ant has gone to bed, and Grasshopper plays for the moon. / ... / Inspired by Aesop’s fable about the Ant and the Grasshopper, although I prefer the happy ending where Ant shares his food with Grasshopper, and Grasshopper plays for the ant colony every night in return.

This is a companion piece for “Benzaiten”. These are goddess like creatures of inspiration, music and creativity. This painting is a loose interpretation of the Gaelic goddess Druantia. Worship of her probably originated in Gaul. The root of her name, “drus” means “oak” and so links her with oak trees and from that the druids, and is often called “Queen of the druids”. These days she is associated with the Dryads and rules the realms of creativity, fertility, passion, trees, protection, and knowledge. This piece was originally made for display in my friends beautiful violin store, Simply for Strings in Brisbane.

Today Witje died. He is the one on the right.(his brother passed away 6 weeks ago). In this case I was sort of happy for him ,because he had difficulty with breathing. / Thank you all for your very nice comments throughout the year. / Maybe i will upload so now and than a photo. / acrylics painting on canvas 120×60cm – please view large / ... quite difficult to make a good photo from this one because the metallic paint shows very dark around edges … but I am impatient and I wanted to upload it, hoping for some feedback …... please ….... ? ..... this theme I wanted to do for a long time and so being asked to: “make something for the bedroom” ... for my husbands colleague & her husband …. I thought of this … / ..... will see …. / ...recently I had been fascinated by discovery of Arvo Part’s music and philosophy and also by some texts on ‘sound’ and our perception of it from writings of John O’Donohue …... so those are the sources ….. I also love listening to my daughter practicing her pieces every day (yes almost everyday) ...she is a very good player and ever since she first started she always made sure to produce the best sound possible..so there never was a time of some “painful” noise ….... the fact that it is a practice makes the music very “present’.... I myself do not play any instrument so I have a lot of admiration for anyone who does ….....

I was in Florence,Oregon at their Saturday market and notice a luthier stand. I’ve never seen violins on display like this before. They are such gorgeous instruments to photograph. I almost bought one just for the pleasure of being able to photograph it.
