What do you get when you put my bullet belt, my shecter, me in cheetah stilettos and fishnet and a 10 second timer? you get this motha licker / (haha, old gregg reference) like the common “sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll” motto, i’ve put my interpritation on it. sex (the fishnets and stilettos) drugs (bullet belt) rock n’ roll (guitar) / now for the whole drugs thing, its a common thing among rock stars to be druggies or alcoholics, and the music scene i’m most into is the punk/ska scene, with one of the trademarks being the bullet belt (and my zebra guitar strap fits in nicely with it)

‘Iliki’ Spirit of Aloha is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. My darling ‘Illiki’ was inspired by James Michener’s novel ‘Hawaii’ and the beautiful young hawaiian girl who is one of the charming characters early on in the story. I was completely swept away during the reading of this incredible novel, highly recommended reading :D I think that the song Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole really relates to the story …. as his melancholy voice is so melodically accompanied by the ukelele….. it reminds me of the story of Iliki the young hawaiian girl, who leaves her island when still very young…. forever she haunted the mind of the young minister missionary who tended her and taught her in his first days on the island, he forever wondered how she was faring in the civilised world, having been taken away on a ship by the white men. He felt a certain special kind of fatherly love for this girl, and it tore his heart that she was so clever and cottoned on so well to the new english language, and customs he would teach her, as well as the scriptures…but she was a wild thing, and never one to be ‘pigeon-holed’ or contained… he set her free and never saw her again. Ian Rilen was a legendary Sydney rock and roller and a member of bands such as Rose Tattoo, X and Sardine V. He died earlier this year and is much missed for his wild and wonderful ways. I found this candid back stage shot of him and his then wife Stephanie preparing to go onstage at the Trade Union Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills way way back in the early 80’s. They were in Sardine V at that time and when I look at this shot now the eighties rush back. Oh my misspent youth. :) So Vale Ian Rilen, I so hope things are rocking were ever you are. This shot is for you.

/ Dolphin Dance – original available / from the Beach and Friends Series by Karin Taylor / The original painting is mixed media on canvas textured paper Dolphin Dancer is a radiant native girl in her grass skirt doing a special hula improvisation with ukelele strapped to her back (for a later session by the fire on the beach with friends) ...she wears hibiscus in her hair, and dances on dusk, calling for dolphins to come in to the shore and play, a dragonfly hovers nearby….she wears a lai of island flowers about her neck and her movements are soft, sweet and subtle, as the dolphins draw nearer and nearer with each wave rolling in ...the surf a midnight blue under the starlit sky, the air kisses her skin softly and all is well in the cosmos

John Lennon played the Rickenbacker 325 ‘58 on most of the tracks on The Beatles Debut album, Please Please Me and since them many other guitarists have turned to Rickenbacker Guitars. / George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Brian Jones, Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Noel Gallagher. And the man from Decca said guitar groups were on their way out….Looks like he was wrong.
