Found these guys too cute to not shoot, they are about 25mm (1 inch) tall, and very delicate indeed. they seem to like the mossy areas at the base of trees, alive or dead. Found these in the national park, just North of Lorne VIC, on the Great Ocean Road. Canon 50D, 400mm.
A tiny solitary fungai nestles in the crook of a mossy tree stump.

I LOVE these mushrooms above all others that I find. / These are called Netted Rhodotus. There are no others in their family. An extremely unique fungi in the structure the cap achieves threw it’s cycle of life. Originally they start off smooth like most other mushrooms, but then must go threw a wet/dry/wet spell in order for the cap to get that amazing ‘crackly/netted’ look to it. My state is about the only ‘common’ location for this species. I’ve been recording it now only 2 years and know that it returns twice a year to the same location…and now I know it comes back to the same location the next year! /

There are often many photos that I don’t put up for some reason or another, but they actually mean a lot to me and carry a story. I’ve decided to share them with you. Welcome to my Share Life Collection. These mushrooms were found at my home home during the Christmas holidays. It had been very very wet, and these cute glowing mushies were sprouting up everywhere. On the 9th planet in the Dural System,Deep in the Lukas Nebula, lies the world of Moore’s Retreat, first settled by Sarah Moore and her family just after the Galston Uprising. / It is a beautiful planet, and for much of the year pretty quiet.Much of the time taken up with such pursuits as gardening, art and photography. / But every year in the autunm when Galston Minor rises and brings about the storm of Fire Astroids, this is a time of much work and pleasure. / For with the coming of the astroids the Hot Fire Fungi Mini Mushe’s begin to grow, and it is only after 5 nights that the harvest starts. The harvest as to be done by hand, every mushi must be hand picked between the hours of 2-5 am,the dew can never to allowed to touch them. / Even the children help with the picking. / For once dew as touched the Fungi they become blackened and are highly poisonous. / Otherwise the are a great delicacy, this harvest is the very lifeblood of this world, with the immense profits the population can spend the rest of the year pursuing their hobbies. / Here we see the Fire Mushi’s growing even within walking distance of the Luna Park Towers which is where you go to buy Mini Mushes in downtown Kenthurst. / In the background we see the Sandpiper Hill’s, and of course Galston Minor. .............An excerpt from volume 78 of ” The Travels of Zorind Rakkmnn ”. This is a collaboration between Sarah Moore and I,under “Get Your Own Planet“ I used Sarah’s image’s “Luna Park Towers” & “Mini Mushies“

As it is dinner time, as I post this work, I thought that a nice food shot will do the trick. This is a British favourite and an aussie one too (without the mushy peas though, just normal peas please…) – Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas. What will you be having for dinner tonight? This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 20D camera using studio lighting.

My old man is a Manchester United fan so I’ve done this for his birthday present as “Red Devils” is the nickname for this famous club. I think it’s cooler than your average football (soccer) tees.
