The 1972 Olympic Games in Munich will unfortunately remembered for the drama away from the sporting arenas, after the Black September terrorist group took eleven Israeli athletes hostage. On the sporting front there were some spectacular moments. Mark Spitz won a record seven Gold medals in the pool, and set a new World Record for each event. This took Spitz’s total medal tally to nine. / Olga Korbut, nicknamed the Sparrow from Minsk, won three Gold and one Silver medal in gymnastics. / Finnish middle distance runner Lasse Viren won Gold in both the 5,000 and 10,000 metres, despite falling 12 laps into the 10,000 metre race. / In Basketball the USSR beat the USA by a single point in the most controversial game in Olympic history. The result was so controversial that the silver medals remain in a vault in Lausanne, Switzerland after the USA team refused to accept them.

Australians: Meeting Up / UKians: Meeting Up / What about the rest of Europe? I’ll be travelling around Europe quite a bit during the next couple of weeks: October 20, 2007: Stuttgart, Germany (visiting the Wilhelma Zoo), / will be in Augsburg/München Area until October 24, 2007. From October 25, 2007 I will be travelling Greece for a week (Meteora and then around Chalkidiki). End of November I’ll be in Spain (hopefully Barcelona & Madrid). I’d love if anyone around would like to meet up for Coffee (or Frappé if in Greece ;c)...) :D

I called this Rotund because of the round rooftops mixed in with the regular rectangular or sloping slated roofs. There’s something crisp and smart about the rooftops and lines in the architecture in Munich which I found appealing. Taken in Munich, Germany.
