For some reason, this picture is one of my favourites; not that you can capture a city in one image, mumbai of all cities, but this one takes me down memory lane…
I know not what the child saw…i only know that he saw…

See more of my India Series here This man owned this flower shop in the markets in Mumbai, India. If you make eye contact with him he will lure you into his shop and before you know it you are walking out with a bunch of flowers that you paid half of what they are worth but twice as much as a local. / This stall gave me a feeling of happiness and joy in the midst of the social turmoil around it. He was very willing for me to take his picture but unlike the vegetable seller, thought it more appropriate to show his serious face. Part of a series with:
Dhobi Ghat – A unique feature of Mumbai, the dhobi is a traditional laundryman, who will collect your dirty linen, wash it, and return it neatly pressed to your doorstep

Nostalgia, Flora Fountain, Mumbai, India Mumbai (Bombay, until a few years ago) is a city that has many old buildings and structures. Some of these are in a well known locality called “Flora Fountain” (recently renamed “Hutatma Chowk”). It has some very pretty old buildings (19th century British India). This picture is a coloured outline (converted from an actual photograph) of the fountain in the foreground and some of the old buildings in the background. To my mind this outline better brought out the beauty of the photograph. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
Reflections of sweet shops and carnival rides lights on the very popular and crowded beach late night in Mumbai – the beach is very flat and covered with a thin film of water /
My colorful impression from a family photo
A very popular beach in Mumbai, India - thousands of people flock to the beach at sunset when the temperatures cool – few people actually swim instead prefering to walk on the very flat water covered sand - there are numerous shops and food outlets and games for the kids - lots of hawkers selling everything from popcorn to massages - many young guys with digital cameras and printers offering an instant remembrance—many young men playing some type of wrestle tag in the muddy sand. This image is pretty much how the photo came out of the camera . Featured in “Authentic India” Oct 21 – 2008 / Featured in “Incredible India Jan 25 – 2009
Hotel Taj, Hotel Trident and Nariman house – more or less familiar names across the world, until terror hit Mumbai on 26.11 They don’t care language, nation or what your identity is. Unfortunately, it has spread over the world in recent times but it’s origin has never been thought to be destroyed totally, yet. Sooner or later the world will have to think of it. It claimed 151 lives till 1830 Hrs. on 28.11.2008 in Mumbai and Hotel Trident was CLEARED, fighting for Hotel Taj and Nariman House, the Jewish residential was still on. It’s not just Mumbai or India today, it might hit any civilized world tomorrow. I am presenting a photograph taken today to pay a tribute to all who lost their life with a message, although the PEACE is the most valuable asset to all of human beings, until the roots of terror are not destroyed WAR AGAINST TERROR will never end. We are on the same board named planet Earth and we cannot live with terror for a long time. Please join hands against the fight to make a safe and peaceful world, for our coming generations. One day we’ll have to answer them. All the proceedings from the sale will go to the victims of 26.11 Equiment : Canon EOS 400D
this old man is a destitute. sits on the footpath of one of the many busy streets in mumbai. he also asks for his favourite food from a neary restaurant and settles for nothing less if asked. otherwise he waits for a large hearted customer who bows to his demand. the food that he likes is a local folk cuisine and cost around 10 rupees, that is one 5th of a dollar.
