My cousin Jamie and her horse Chico. Chico pretends to be a tough guy, but he’s really all mush on the inside and completely adores Jamie. I managed to capture a sweet moment between them when Chico wasn’t paying attention (he was kind of a ham for the camera and kept posing. :D)

This is the follow up photo to “Frog in my throat”. The morning after I photographed this guy swallowing up one of his own, there he was, sitting on a log with his back to me. I took this as an opportunity to get a shot of a frog leaping into the water, or at least a mug shot for the police files. I crept slowly towards him with a finger ready on the shutter release. He spun around quickly and suddenly I had this big grinning face in my view. Quite a contented look, and, without a doubt, no remorse. Photo taken at Mud Lake, in Ottawa, Canada.

The rains had been bad for some years and this part of the reservoir was that which had been expected to be a water skiing area. We had driven around from the highway to Mansfield along the Bonnydoon road to the ski area, and were just about giving up when we came to this part where the river had only a narrow valley, and we found the first of the water. The cracks in the mud are undamaged by rain. Taken with a Pentax Z1p camera and Pentax 28 mm shift lens on Kodachrome 200 film. 1/250 f 16
