  • At first I was wondering whether I should crop this, but I decided to leave it because it was interesting to see the different parts of the water; where the foreground was swirling and the water in the back is calm. Location: Naruto, Japan ““ ““

  • The original photo:

  • Can you notice something yellow and something black in the distance? This is the island of Naoshima in Japan, known as an island of contemporay art. Two famous art galleries by Ando Tadao are built there: the Chichu Art museam and the Benesse Hotel Art Museam. This shot was taken from the balcony of the Benesse, and just behind the balcony inside is a painting of a beach with a yellow boat and a black boat; which was originally meant to go with the actual yellow and black boat seen here as one piece of work, but eventually they made another set of boats, and put them in front of the painting. If I had not run into the tourguide I would have not noticed the boats on the beach. If you look closer; you can also to a tiny white photo frame placed smack dab on a hill (there were several of these photo frames displayed in the balcony area; sorry if you can’t see them here; they are much more clear in the actual photo)

  • This is taken from the balcony of the Benesse Hotel Museum in Naoshima, Japan. The photos on the walls are of ocean shots taken around the world; and they are positioned so that when looking out to the landscape, the water horizon lines up with the horizon in the photos. And there was more to see at this spot: /

  • The Ponte San Michele bridge in Vicenza, Italy built between 1887-1889 Taken with an Olympus FE-220 on Oct. 25, 2008. This work has been featured in: / I Love Italy

  • It’s been raining like hell here in Rome; so much that the Tiber River is flooding; I can seeit from my apartment! The edges around Tiber Island is now under water; you can see tree tops above the water surface! Apparently the day the weather will get better this coming thursday Dec 18th, 2008; and that’s the day I leave Rome and head for London… geez nice weather come when I leave; but I still try to do do as much sightseeing as I can with the remaining time.

  • Self-portrait graphic YES! I made it in time for the challenge! So I haven’t been active very much here generally because of school but still come online to see what’s happening. When this challenge was launched I was busy with a deadline (which just ended this morning). I did this just today after getting some catch-up sleep from pulling an all nighter. The past few days I’ve been constantly staying up late until early in the morning; going home after the sun has risen. As unpleasant as it is to have a strange sleeping routine; I do get to see some beautiful morning skies :P So after a full day of working in a dry building with air ducts rattling over my head, the moment I step out after sunrise is a rather sensual moment; which inspired me to do this. The background is a photo I took in Paesteum, Italy during the term I was studying in Rome. I haven’t uploaded that here yet because I still have a lot of pics from Europe which I have to sort and decide which will go up. The scene in the bottle I took on the same day I took this /

  • The Adige river taken from the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, Italy

  • As Is. Paestum, Italy September 25, 2008 On the same day I took this:

  • Paestum, Italy on the day I arrived there; September 25, 2008 A very lovely day watching the sunset by the beach. Taken with an Olympus FE-220. Taken on the same day as these shots:

  • Taken October 26, 2008. This is not the best piece, but I felt like sharing because Venice was my favourite city in Italy. Unfortunately it was also where my cheap handheld Olympus FE-220 camera broke. It dropped during the Biennale, and a sharp pebble on the ground punctured the screen. I could still take pictures but I could not see what I was taking, and my camera did not have a view finder so everything was pure judgement. This happened on the last day of my Northern Italy field trip; so I spent the evening and the next morning doing “blind photography”. If I wanted to change a setting I could not see the menu, so I had to bear in mind how many times I were to press up, down, left or right to get the option, which by my gut instinct, I thought would be the best as I would not be able to preview it. I also had to make sure I kept my camera still for a reasonable amount of time for the night shot settings. We only spent one day in Venice and this was perhaps the most decent picture I got there. All my most decent pictures were from the night; during the day I was at the Biennale, and it was already dark by the time it was over. The next day there were too many people :P

  • The Villa d’Este garden in Tivoli, Italy. / Taken on October 4, 2008. with an Olympus FE-220 On this day it rained very heavily, but meanwhile there were many fountains shooting water up; hence water was moving both up and down on this day. The white streaks show how rapidly the rain was pouring. This photo is edited; The original was as below: / It was on this day that I also took Sunny Storm and Stair 9.

  • Yes I’m jumping back to a London based pic. This was an image I had included in my London calendar which I did not have displayed publically before but now I’ve decided to show it. Despite the blue sky and sunshine this day was in fact VERY cold. Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on January 31, 2009. Tower Bridge; London, UK. This work has been featured in: / 4 Winners Only
