A whirlpool caught in a long exposure in a magical place called Illinois Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. Camera: Canon 5D / Lens: Canon 24-70mm / Filter: Heliopan thin Polarizing filter / Aperture: f18 / Exposure: 30 seconds Not the type of image I could bracket to capture exactly the same and layer the two together. What I did is save the darker version of this and worked in Curves in Photoshop and lightened it up. Then opened both images up and layered them and removed the light areas by darkening with the eraser/brush tool at about 35% by removing the lighter layer until she looked pretty.

Lower Indian Ladders Falls after heavy summer storms, captured in the Delaware Water Gap region of northwestern Pennsylvania. The hike to the bottom of these falls is very steep and treacherous, but once you get there the views are amazing, especially in times of heavy water flow. This photograph of Hermosillo was taken during a storm from my car window. The window of blue sky on the upper left was an oval shaped portal surrounded by dark clouds. I didn’t have enough view from the car door to capture the entire scene, but I believe this small glimpse adequately presents the powerful movement of the elements. Olympus E-3, Zuiko 14-54 mm f/2.8-3.5, 0.6 Sec, f/2.9, ISO 200, 19 mm Copyright © Richard G.
