This is the 3rd shot from today’s series of photos from the local grave yard.. I had heard recently that grave yards make a great subject for IR photography, and I personally think I have to agree as I believe that this is my best IR shot so far.. / The cross that you can see behind the headstone in the middle of the shot is the cross that I used as the subject for my So Dark The Con Of Man shot.. / Anyway let me know what you all think and i hope you like it all as much as i do.. • Sorrow
    by Dorothy Venter

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Yet, O stricken heart, remember, O remember / How of human days he lived the better part. / April came to bloom and never dim December / Breathed its killing chills upon the head or heart. / Doomed to know not winter, only spring, a being / Trod the flowery April blithely for a while, / Took his fill of music, joy of thought and seeing, / Came and stayed and went, nor ever ceased to smile. Came and stayed and went, and now when all is finished, / You alone have crossed the melancholy stream, / Yours the pang, but his, O his, the undiminished / Undecaying gladness, undeparted dream. All that life contains of torture, toil, and treason, / Shame, dishonor, death, to him were but a name. / Here, a boy, he dwelt through all the singing season / And ere the day of sorrow departed as he came. Robert Louis Stevenson. In Memoriam F.A.S.

  • Seasons
    by Karin Taylor

    US$4.70–US$125.40

‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy1aKt0lhtg This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late

  • Mourning Dress
    by David Roman

    US$3.99–US$106.40

As I sat and watched the evening news with my wife and older sister we all sat and slowly cried as we watched our dying city. The city took us to some small town out in the middle of Texas. / And left us there like some old clothes that had been rejected. And as we sat and watched this TV in the middle of the day remembering all the life we had before Katrina came an swept it all away! It wasn’t very long ago we walked down its lively streets and mingled with the visitors down on old Bourbon Street. One week before the waters came and washed our souls away and now were living in a place that feels like some old grave! Please tell me Mr News caster whens all the promises gonna come? And finally take us back to home like all our leaders said. It looks to me that all along they knew they lied to us, so we sit here crying in this dying place as we watch the evening news. And I wonder Mr President while you spend billions on your war could you maybe give a little to rebuilding the 9th Ward? And another thing Mr President can you answer this small thing will we ever see that place called home our old New Orleans?

  • Dedicated
    by Suni Pruett

    US$3.71–US$98.80

This image is dedicated to my best friend who recently suffered a very dear loss Instead of sending flowers to her… This is my gift to her. This is My image Morning Flight that I have added the lovely poem : God looked around his Garden and found an empty place. / He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face. / He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. / His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. / He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. / And knew that you would never get well on earth again. / He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes, / He whispered to you “Peace be Thine” and gave you wings to fly. / When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain, / We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. / You’ve left us precious memories, your love will be our guide, / You live on through your children, you’re always by our side. / It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. / For part of us went with you on the day God called you home Author Unknown

  • Seer of Truth
    by Kym Breeze

    US$4.56–US$121.60

Acrylic on wide edge canvas(4cm), 61cm x 91cm original for sale… Created from the heart, after the sad loss of a dear special friend, whilst mourning her passing, I found my brush doing all the work and I let it flow through me, emotions were plentiful, and tears shed, as this piece grew, I was astounded how different it was from the work I had been doing, also I knew for the first time I let my inner artist create purely for release, creativity and not for a desired result, / I am proud to finally name this piece “Seer of Truth” for that is what my friend “S” was she loved people, loved sharing and talking and giving good counsel to those in need, she nutured her children, and others, and rejoiced in every day she could share with another….Her eyes shone so brightly even at the end of her journey, In tribute to the one I love, “You can not hide / From the truth deep inside / No matter how hard you try / The eye see’s all / She see’ your soul / And know’s all” Thank you to my dear friend Damian for taking a quality image for me to upload here…

  • Sorrow
    by Peter Horsman

    US$3.42–US$91.20

From the Peré Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, I found this mourning statue such a moving and sombre tribute to those who have passed on. This statue was on one side of a family crypt door, with another statue on the other side. You can see the full crypt image here. Without trying to sound morbid, I have great admiration for the work that went in to so many of the crypts there.

This one seems to be a pregnant female. / / Common bird in USA, this pale and delicately colored bird with long and pointed tail feathers is a delight. Often closely bonded pairs are seen day after day in the same locality. ” “ ” “ ” “ / / These birds with long and pointed tail feathers is a delight.
