Norway, the most beautiful country in the world – or so I personally think. Endlessly inspiring, every view mesmerising, I love it. I have tried to emphasise the ever-present tranquility by focusing on this pile of stones, quite a common site in western norway incidentaly. / I hope you like it!

Such beauty and grace-these swans were actually not at there best we were told- in another month when the breeding is over they will have regained their pure white feathers- so a little help here in the free download of Picasa 3. Taken with a Fuji S2000HD-Finepix Camera. /
“Chess problems demand from the composer the same virtues that characterize all worthwhile art : originality, invention, conciseness, harmony, complexity, and splendid insincerity.” – Vladimir Nabokov, ‘Poems and Problems’, 1969 [canon 1000D] /
I wanted to get a photograph the waterfalls in Pontneddfechan, Wales. I did some research, planned my route in the GPS and packed my kit. The chap in the waterfall centre was very helpful and was keen to tell me the proper welsh name of the waterfalls. I smiled and nodded, I still don’t have a clue to this day what he was talking about. Unfortunately I lost the map I bought and stupidly brought along my bicycle for quick access. Bad move. I had to carry my bicycle for most of the 10 miles round trip and also had to transverse a waterfall as I got stuck on the wrong side of the river and watched a load of guys in wetsuits try to walk behind the waterfalls and fail. All good fun. / This is my first attempt at taking wateralls so please be gentle. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 50mm, f/20, 2.5 sec, ISO 50. ND filter used. Dust and scratches removed in photoshop, upped the saturation by +2 This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
I so should not have been where is was sitting to get this photograph of Lands End, UK. Within seconds of this shot being taken I was covered in spray and the grass became quite slippery around me. I did sit there for quite some time marveling at the power of the ocean, it was hypnotic. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/9, 1/640 sec, ISO 250. No filters used and hand held. A small amount of dust and scratches removed in photoshop. A contrast map and hue deference in photoshop.
