At Day’s End As the sun goes down over the front range mountains of Denver, Colorado, the Sunflowers turn, in anticipation of the sun coming back up in the morning. I went to the lake very early in the morning ,it was pretty cold but it was worth it ,it looks like the trees were in fire.Oh! This composite was made specialy for a the “chaos” challenge last year.I just let myself go and tried something different from what I use to do.I had a old picture from my trip in France when I went skiing in the Alps.The black stain at the left is,in fact,a restaurant at the “Trois Vallées” resort and you also can see the skier’s traces on the snow…. :)) I did a double layer with a shot of the moon taken with my Panasonic FZ-20…some coloring “et voilà”.....just for fun….

Then fate brought to me a girl and she would change my life forever… Newfoundland is where I now call home, with my beautiful wife and baby son. This province is a photographer’s paradise. Background Information: / Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m). The lake has a surface area of 0.5 km². The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. by Bob WickhamThis cute creature is a Viscacha. A bit like a big rabbit with a long tail, they live amongst the rocks in high altitude regions of Peru, Bolivia and Chile. He/She (not sure which) is a Mountain Viscacha, a member of the Rodent family. This one is a wild animal, free to do as it pleases, but he’s quite happy living amongst the rocks around the Conaf Ranger Station at the Salar de Surire National Monument in far northern Chile. / This is a very remote part of the world and very few people would pass this way, so I think the Viscacha have learned to tolerate the human intrusion. / They’re diurnal, but their diet consists of grass, not very nutritious grass, so they spend most of their time asleep. When I found him he was asleep. I had him framed in the camera, thinking that he has to move eventually. And he did. He stretched out his tiny arms and yawned and then promptly fell back to sleep. / It was all over in a second and I had just enough time for one shot. Canon 5D Mark II / An old 100-300mm Canon lens at 300mm / ISO 250 / 1/500 second at f/5.6 / Handheld / Captured in Raw / I’ve introduced some vignetting around the edges and applied a curve in Photoshop CS4 but otherwise the image is as taken. Featured in “Landscape Photography” Moraine Lake, Alberta, Canada I knew going that I wanted a shot dramatically different then the standard “Moraine Lake” photo that everyone has. I took this photo in the early spring of this year, before the lake had reached it’s normal levels. Didn’t realize it at the time but I was very lucky to have gotten this shot as I came back 3 days later and the rock had already been completely submerged. Woke up at 2am and drove 2 and half hours in the dark and then slept at the lake for about 30 mins before going out to take pictures. Spent almost 4 hours walking the shores trying different shots. I was about to go home when i spotted this rock, I knew I had finally found the shot I wanted. Cheers

Glenmore Reservoir, Calgary, Alberta, Canada This was one my very first photo’s I took. There were many things I had not yet picked up. I had the iso on auto, which I think for this photo was about 400 – 800. This led to much of the noise in the sky. I had the aperture set at f22, which at the time I thought was best to bring more of the photo in focus but I later found it can soften the overall image. I also did not own a tripod so I had to balance the camera on some rocks which made composing the scene much harder then normal and led to a small amount of camera shake. In the end though this became the first photo I had taken that I was truly proud of and solidified my passion for photography.
