Bodie Ghost Town in the Seirra Nevada Mountains in Eastern California. This 1800’s Gold town once had a thriving population of 10,000 people. It was a true wild western town with gun fights, saloons and a huge redlight district.

Untouched and a total accident,a macro shot of snow that fell down the roof last winter.I hope I’m not the only one who sees a part of a face in the clouds… :))...better view larger So close,so far… / It felt like eternity… / I walked …and walked / lost in a paradise of ice Hopelessly crying,hoping / to be delivered from that immensity. / I reached to the top of that icy pic / and saw a small refuge. For an euphoric instant / I saw His Face in the clouds / The Keeper of my souvenirs / I knew ,then / The reason of my wanderring… Gigi / / My first poem in english and first experience for me.This situation happened to me two days ago,I’ve got lost in the woods for 4 hours,walking and walking,desperate to find a saving light.It was so dark,even Tchoko was worried,chasing imaginary animals….then I saw thousands of stars all arround me,it was fireflies….it was like being part of the universe…nothing else but fireflies…then I realised I was out of the woods.I met 6 persons and asked for help,one of them let me do a phone call but Michel was working late and wasn’t there.I have to say that I hated humanbeings that night and I cried of rage instead of fear.I finaly saw a police car on the road and went back to where I was parked.It was midnight.Tchoko and I slept all day after,tired but happy to be home. / ...A true story ..thanks for reading…x / / PS. I wanted to do the sunset on the top of a mountain,the same place I took «Together at last»but I forgot the time shooting mushrooms…. :)))..it’s all me. / /

I have been here and seen the coming of man to my rivers. In my shadows have walked wildlife that no longer walk here. From my lofty peaks you can see for many miles. Once I stood higher than the far western mountains. I may have shifted and changed but I remain. My rivers are cold and my forest cool. From my bowels man has both feed himself and built his shelters. He has raped my slopes for my wood. Fought wars within me. I still survive. Mist still shroud my valleys. Flowers still shine their beauty for all to see. Come walk my paths an fish my streams. Stand on my peaks and walk my valleys. Loose yourself within yourself as your cares fade away when your with me. I am the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Iron Mountains, Far Blue Mountains, the Sha-cona-ga. Published in DIGITAL PHOTO magazine. There exists a whole row of abandoned buildings along Mormon Row, a phtotgraphic delight, if you don’t mind sharing it with a whole bunch of other photographers ! Deservedly popular , backed up as it is by the amazing Teton mountain range. The town of Jackson is nearby. / The Mormon people were evicted when the National Park was created. I decided to give this the HDR and Orton treatment, to bring out the texture of the wood, and add a little drama to the scene. Shot on my Canon EOS 40D,mounted on tripod, polarising filter, iso 100, f22, 1/30 sec, cloudy WB, RAW file, processed in Photomatix, with further adjustments in PS CS3, and a little Orton applied. Finished with LAB colour to oomph it up a bit !
