  • Pristine mountain lake with distant island , mid morning view

  • Time for the final bout, / Rows of deserted houses, / All our stable mates highway bound… / - Death Cab for Cutie

  • One of the many stunning views from the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I loved the patterns the clouds made on the ground.

  • A winter panorama shot of the valley Valldal on the west coast of Norway, taken during the christmas holiday. Stitched together of 15 pictures. Post-processing: / Stitched some pictures together, obviously. Fixed the contrast with curves, added a lighter curve only on the lower part as the valley was pretty dark, and the mountain tops really light. Added two black and white layers set to hard light (140%), mainly on the sky and the mountain tops.

  • A Susan Epps Oliver original 2008. All rights reserved. My interpretation of my neighbourhood….... This started life as a general panoramic photo of the Blue Ridge mountains taken during a trip on Skyline Drive in VA. The main addition to the photo was the use of the fractalius filter but the most time-consuming part was trying to get the colour balance the way I wanted it to be. Software used….. Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and Ulead. Featured in the “Virginia” group. Bridge in the Shenandoah

  • Sorry about the pun, ‘revamped!’ I’ve put a filter on my watercolour painting, to increase the moonlight atmosphere

  • more shadow play (cropped slightly but untouched otherwise)

  • An old lantern next to the entrance to the Virgin Mary Visitation church in Hejnice, Jizera mountains, Czech Republic. I feel that giving light is very symbolic for this place where the pilgrimage roads from several countries cross since the 13th century… February 2002. Canon EOS 500N, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, blend-modes, color correction, watercolor.

  • What is it that I love about the mountains? Is it the shape, the one I remember I used to draw as a kid, the grandeur on such a scale that easily outsize anything ever made by man, or just the special kind of atmosphere that always seems to linger around these giants. This is a striking mountain. I couldn’t stop looking at it, and just like with a beautiful women, you seem to notice a new set of attractive details with each pass your eyes make. The light was soft, the sun generous but the clouds were restrictive, creating deep, strong and wide shadows. At the end it didn’t matter, only giving the whole sight a rich, painting like quality. Enough talking. Indulging in beauty is a hard job, I know that better than anyone, and the moment is perfect for a rest-stop. The usual muffin and a flat white would give me enough strength to push the release button until the day expires, but where? That’s an easy one – the mountain house on the slopes of the volcano, where else.

  • Mountains, just blue mountains! Reaching to the horizon… This is a landscape of my dreams! View from Jungfraujoch, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn World Natural Heritage . July 2008. Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch (the negative was unfortunately heavily scratched), tonality adjustment, warming filter, distortion correction, watercolor, sharpening.

  • We’re living on the edge of The Dreamtime, / just a breath away from the Dream. / We’ve written the script, so that we can get hip, / and now we’re playing “the Game”. I’d faltered on the lip of the abyss, / left of the rights of ignorant rats. We’re living on the edge of the Dreamtime, / just a step away from the Serene. / We’re balancing on the tip of our Nightmare, / while clinging to our world of false dreams. I fought the battle of instant insanity, / in the fear and the still of an asylum’s night. / And stepped-out of the darkness of my ignorance, / with an in-formed prognosis called insight. My people, the world, the beautiful boys and the girls, / the black and the white and the frail, / sleep through their lives with desirous eyes, / as their beliefs encourage their greed. As we fall off the Edge, then mayhap maybe / we’ll renew our pledge to grow in the flow / of love-in da light. So interpret your Dreaming - / as dark-hearts grow scheming - / enwrapped in the knowing of another place, / deeper within your inner-Space. Yes, we’re living on the edge of the Dreamtime; / as long as we remain in Be-leaving. ... [if you’d like to see a larger view of this, view here ]

  • Featured in Safe Haven December 25, 2008. Same scene, different minute … one of the things that fascinates me about the mountain is the incredible difference in the view that Mother Nature displays for our enjoyment … minute by minute the advancing shadows play with color and light creating nuances and surprises that feed the soul. Taken December 21, 2008 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-135 lens, circular polarizer attached, on top of Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, PA.

  • Mt. Lemmon, AZ Taken with my Nikon D-80 18-135mm lens, CP filter.

  • I return to this exact spot a lot. I have to say it is one of my favorite places to take photographs. This canyon is one of nature’s great cathedrals. It’s hard to explain the feeling that comes over you when you are standing there staring out across the water…Especially during this time of year, when there is nobody else out there. You can have the whole place to yourself, or share it with someone special.

  • THIS IS A BIG IMAGE VIEW LARGER FOR BEST RESULTS Isnt it a buzz when you get that perfect light, the shades of day as it is born, as the first rays light up an already magnificent view ? For those viewing, commenting and favouriting if i’m lucky thank you This shot was taken from Echo Point in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at dawn, it was created from 5 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. The image was taken at sunrise certainly a great view. The Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalking is a must ! Equipment : D300 Nikon 18-200mm lens / Technique: HDR 5 Exposures Photomatix Framed See Also /

  • The weather for this years Winter Magic Festival was a bit of everything. But even though there was rain and fog and it was cold… it didn’t stop the crowds from enjoying themselves! Late in the afternoon the mist started to roll in and it was getting dark.. a few storeholders were starting to pack up but the street was still full of people. I took a photo at the time because I really liked the atmosphere and then when I had my week away recently, I let myself start to play with it! This is the result so far… I think I would like to try a few other ideas too… : )) Mixed Media on canvas paper. / 40.5×60

  • Another first for me, been wanting to get a decent pic of this awsome valley with a wide angle lens for a long time. The brooding valley of Glencoe and it’s three sisters, Highlands of Scotland. Famous for the Masacre of the McDonalds in 1692: “The Massacre of Glencoe occurred in Glen Coe, Scotland, in the early morning of 13 February 1692, during the era of the “Glorious Revolution” and Jacobitism. In Gaelic, the event is named ‘Mort Ghlinne Comhann’ (murder of Glen Coe). The massacre began simultaneously in three settlements along the glen—Invercoe, Inverrigan, and Achnacon—although the killing took place all over the glen as fleeing MacDonalds were pursued. Thirty-eight MacDonalds from the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by the guests who had accepted their hospitality, on the grounds that the MacDonalds had not been prompt in pledging allegiance to the new monarchs, Mary II and William II. Another forty women and children died of exposure after their homes were burned.” canon 400D , sigma 10-20 with Lee filters. F16 @ iso100
