  • This image was taken recently on the mountain road near Llangadog in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. It snakes down the mountainside, and this is the sharpest of the hairpin bends on the way down. The driver is notified here of the need to slow down in both English and in Welsh. This scene typifies the type of road found in hilly Wales. The image is monochrome from a colour original digital file of high resolution. It is tweaked slightly to lighten foliage and increase contrast in the road.

  • Acrylic landscape painting. The view is of a mountain called Cnicht, which is part of the Snowdonia National Park in Wales. I painted this scene first in a red and black colour scheme (the first painting is entitled ‘Cnicht in Red’), and then decided to paint a more realistic blue and green version, showing the trees, roads and tiny houses in the foreground, but still keep the colour scheme fairly bright.
