Hi to all of you, Last February 2008 I discovered a great destination, El Salvador (The Savior) Central America Pacific ocean. / I visited there for 2 weeks, the weather was great down there 47 Celsius, only two humid nights out of 14 days, mostly dry and comfortable, compared to here in Quebec in Feb. lots of snow and humid. The best part of Salvador is it’s people most of them being friendly and eager to learn about us, they are a bit shy because they are not used to see a lot of tourist around , but when they get to know you better they like to laugh and joke around a lot! Presently their tourist infrastructures are only 3 years old but they are doing very well in the touring business and learning very fast paste. I saw some very nice regions and spectacular scenery while touring , Sonsonate, Apaneca Valley, Santa Leticia village with it’s surrounding mountains and volcanoes,it’s coffee “Gourmet” plantation, some more than 6,700 feet in altitude, it is sometimes so steep that the coffe picker workers have to attach ropes around their waist not to roll down the mountain hills while transporting big heavy loads of coffee fruits in huge baskets on their backs, going up and down 12 feet ladders…. I visited small villages Sonsonate, Ahuachapan, nahuizalco, Salcoatitan, Juayua, and Ataco in the mountains specializing in crafts and artistic wood furnishing, hand painted terracotta pottery , knitting, crocheting, marvelous weaving and embroidery, musical instrument making especially guitars. While escalating the Izalco Volcano I saw the national bird the “Torogoz” a magnificent colored bird with some turquoise, red, brick, white with a long beak and long splinted in two tail ending with turquoise and black plumes , it’s just to bad at the time I was on a moving truck upward the bumpy hill to Izalco volcano and could not frame the bird and did not see an other one for all day. Hope I will be going again in 2 years or so, but for this winter I think I’ll be exploring Panama’s beautiful jungle rain forests and the canal. I’ve displayed a couple of my touring photos in my portfolio for you to enjoy!
