  • Pisaq 2007, Peru’ ! I visited the ruin of Pisaq, near Cusco just a few days ago.. it’s a long way up at an altitude of about 3600 mt, it takes about 3 hours if you are not use to it and that’s my case.. the ruin is divided in different sections, so it is like discovering things during the walk. She moves like the wind that flows through the fabric of her kimono and she floats as if she were born from the clouds. • A sunbeam appears suddenly after a day of rain. / Torrin is a small crofting village that sits in the shadow of the hill called ‘The Blaven’ on the shores of Loch Slapin. For me, one of the best places on the Isle of Skye, also known as ‘The Winged Isle’, owing to its shape. also ‘The Misty Isle’ because of the persistent rain and cloud experienced here ! How nice to retire to the warmth of a cosy cottage in such weather ! Shot on a CANON eos 20D mounted on a tripod. f22, 1 sec, cloudy WB, iso 100. Processed in PS CS3 levels and curves adjustments. • Carpathian Mountains (Karpaty). (Map: Eastern Carpathians.) Folded, young mountains of medium elevation, stretching in an arc about 1,500 km long (with a chord of almost 500 km) from the city of Bratislava in the northwest to the Iron Gate on the Danube River in the southeast and covering an area of about 200,000 sq km. The Carpathians are part of the Alpine mountain system and border on the old Czech, Polish, and Ukrainian massifs and Dobrudja, being separated from them by a band of young depressions—along the Morava River and Vistula River, the Sian Lowland and Dniester Lowland, the Subcarpathian Depression, and the Wallachian Depression. The Pannonian Basin, which cuts north into the mountains along the Tysa River and Bodrog River and their tributaries, occupies the central part of the arc.

  • A Black Lahu boy rides his brakeless, homemade go-kart through his pituresque village on the Burmese border in northern Thailand. This shot was taken in 1979, before the village had a road, or the villagers had seen a car. When a bulldozer pushed a road into their village a few years later, people took packed lunches to watch, with amazement ,the roadbuilding. Before then, the biggest earthmover they knew of was a hoe.

  • Picture was taken in early december in the late afternoon with my Sony Alpha 100, lens 16-105mm. Edited in Photomatix and a little Photoshop. / It shows the north view from Limbarska gora in Slovenia.

  • Taken near Oruro, Bolivia, from 3 times a week train traveling through the towns of Tupiza, Uyuni and Oruro ! .

  • A croft is a very small farm, or smallholding. Sheep and a few cattle will be kept, and maybe a few crops grown, mostly potatoes, since they do well on the often wet and impoverished soil. Summer is a very short season at this Latitude (57 degrees North) Very few people will make a full living from crofting, and have other full- time employment. There are also quite a few ‘holiday cottages’, or second homes, purchased by ‘incomers’ / since many indigenous folk have given up the crofting life for what they consider to be an easier, or more attractive living. / The weather here can be pretty unforgiving !! / Tarskavaig, on a day like this, sits in a very idyllic situation , with the Cuillin hills as a backdrop. The mountain here is known as ‘The Blaven’. Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, f22, with polarising filter, on tripod, single RAW file, processed in PS CS3 with Levels and Curves adjustments. LAB colour employed to saturate the colours. / The line of cottages was used to draw the eye into the scene. • Some of the world’s most spectacular scenery can be found near the Li River town of Yangshou in southern China. Sheer limestone karst towers and grags rise between rice paddy fields and quaint villages. At the start of the wet season, mist lingers around the outcrops while brilliant green young rice carpets the valley floor. This photograph was taken in 1982, not long after the upheavals of Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution, when paddy fields became communal property. Nikon FM2 camera and 28mm nikkor lense, kodachrome slide film. The original slide was scanned at 3600 dpi and the dirt and mould removed as well as possible in photoshop with the image enlarged at 200%.

  • Another view of this beautiful village sitting on the shores of Loch Carron, with a backdrop of the Applecross and Torridon Hills. Extremely and desevedly popular with the tourists. Taken around eight years ago on my Ricoh KR10 Super mounted on a tripod, F 11, can’t remember the lens, polarising filter, scanned into my PC on my Nikon Coolscan VED, then into Adobe PS CS3, with a little tidying up of noise/dust. / Shot on Fuji Velvia, 50asa. tricky film but fantastic for Landscape when you got it right ! • Chefchaouen, Northern Morocco / Canon 400D My boyfriend Unai (who is a basque photojournalist) and I were working together there for a few days two months ago :) It’s a magical blue paradise hidden between mountains!!! Children accompanied us throughout an afternoon, they felt a lot of curiosity about digital photography (this is a small village and the only one photo store there is an analog one). Timidly at first and very naturally later, they asked us many things about it. They spoke fluent Arabic, French and Spanish and the love they showed us impacted us greatly :) Feature work in: Featured Art Page of Redbubble / / - All Street Portraiture & Photography group (August 09) / - The Photographer in Action group (August 09) / / - ImageWriting group (August 09) /

  • Standing above the village of Talisker, you get a tremendous view to the beautiful Cuillin mountains. / I got very lucky with the light here, on a day when the / sun and clouds were playing cat and mouse. Towards evening, the sun broke through long enough to capture the light falling on the village of Merkadale below. / Talisker is famous for the distillery where many visitors go to taste the Malt Whisky. / I confess to being a heathen…....I prefer a nice Cabernet Sauvignon !! Shot on my Canon EOS 50D, on tripod, polarising filter, iso 100, cloudy wb, f16, 1/25sec, – 1 exposure compensation to retain that dark moody sky, canon 17-85mm IS lens set at 85mm, RAW file processed in Camera Raw, then levels/curves/ selective colour/ in CS3. / Sharpened with Intellisharpen. • This is the Isle of Skye at it’s best, when there is a lot of colour in the landcsape, with the low sun we get this far North at this time of year, accentuating every detail. / This is the crofting community of Tarskavaig, with the glorious backdrop of the Cuillin Hills. / “Crofting” is small time farming, or “smallholding” where a few crops might be grown, and a small number of cattle or sheep kept. A single RAW file, shot on my Canon EOS 50D , polariser filter, f25, 1/2 sec, underexposed by 2/3 stop, iso 100, auto wb, processed in Adobe CR, then in CS3. MORE OF MY ISLE OF SKYE WORK…...
