  • View of Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, USA, from a pullout on the West side. Wizard Island in the center. This is the smallest portion of the lake. The biggest part is on the other side of the Island. The lake is 6 miles long and 5 miles wide and almost 2,000 feet deep. It is an ancient volcano cauldron that sits on top of the Cascade mountain range. It is very accessible to visit, though. There is even wheelchair access.

  • Multiple storms on the Arizona desert…....one just leaving…....one just arriving…... as the sun sets.

  • Shot at Red Rocks State Park outside of Denver…..something about this just caught me eye, the composition and the textures….the stark reality of winter, and the natural saturation itself. Hope ya all like it!

  • I just love Rocky Mountain National Park, spose I always have and always will, though I have to admit that at times I wish we had more clouds in the skies here in Colorado, but I suppose the infamous blues make up for that. The Rockies here just seemed so alive…in that morning light.,...damn that air is fresh I tell ya folks! Anyways, thoughts welcomed, processed in HDR

  • Towering above at 13,001 feet in altitude, Summit Lake is breathtaking. Showcasing Mount Evans in the background, it displays wildflowers which are found no where else on earth except the arctic circle. Captured in the morning light and processed in HDR, I really wanted to scene to come to life. Thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • As the sun sets against the Sandia Range outside of Albuquerque New Mexico, the light was just amazing, with the storms coming in and the color changing almost every second, I set up my tripod and had at it…I really wanted an image that conveyed a sense of high drama and showcased the light for what it was, so I sat and thought to myself and said “What if Ansel Adams was shooting this, what would he do??” and wallah, this is how it translated. Thoughts welcomed! / —John

  • Almost my final moment !!! I think I lack the “fear” instinct of most people. Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park / NSW, Australia 2008

  • A sunrise in the New Mexican desert as the Sandai Mountain Range glows on the horizon

  • Sometimes waking up at 2:30 am to get to Rocky Mountain National Park for the sunrise and first light has it’s payoffs….and this was one of those shots. Shot in Estes Park, Colorado, thoughts welcomed! / —John / -—-——- / _See more on my website at jdebordphoto.com _

  • There can be something said for being up where no one else is at…and having a massive field of wildflowers like this just staring at ya. You literally feel alive and just utterly relaxed. If serenity exists, then I think I found it on Boreas Pass in Colorado….. / HDR Processed / —-John

  • Sunset on the Yosemite Valley.

  • Finding The Lost Civilization of Reimini Day 17…. / Finding the lost civilization of Reimini was the most treacherous trek we had ever made in our 22 yrs of archaeology. We lost many along the way but when we arrived we were astonished at the architectural design and still standing structures. It appeared to be preserved by the icy colds of the mountainous range of Reimite in the southern hemisphere. Strange devices and tools were found unlike any mankind had used in history. It was almost alien like until we found a skeleton of what we hoped was a native to this era. The bones were similar to our own but the abdominal cavity showed traces of what appeared to have been 2 stomaches. Upon further examination 2 hearts once occupied this individual. My husband and I had first heard of the Reimini by an old ex-C.I.A. agent who specialized in covert ops. He was sent to the region some 16 yrs ago to retrieve a box from the location, he never opened it. But kept a map of the location all these years and told us he saw strange things their and structures unlike any built in the last 2000 yrs. Image & Text Copyright © 2008 Lisa Weber. • This was the moment I was hoping for after eleven very strenuous miles on a muddy, narrow trail. We photographers go fishing every day, mostly we get nibbles, but sometimes we land a whopper. I am so proud of this image because I went out to shoot this scene very intentionally. It was very hard work, and this will pay off. The Na Pali Trail winds along the steep and rugged coastline of Kauai’s North shore, and ends in the legendary Kalalau Valley—the place is nearly mythical in its beauty.

  • Oh dear, I’m getting broody for the Italian Dolomites today, but fortunately I’ll be back there in 2 weeks time… This is the south side of the Sella Massif as seen from the the top of Marmolada Cable Car Station. I’m hoping to get up there in better weather, one day…and you see that green mountain in the middle – well that’s where some of my marmot relatives “hang out” as Jay would say! What a view, eh??? I’ve never suggested you view larger, but since this is a pano crop, it might be nice…. ;o)

  • Hi folks, I’m back from Merrie Olde Italy where the weather wasn’t great for photos much of the time but what the heck – this was snapped on the last day which was good – typical! The lovely Val Badia and Piz dles Conturines on the right, as seen from the Valparola pass, Dolomites, Italy. Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EF 24-105mm IS L f/4

  • Standing above the village of Talisker, you get a tremendous view to the beautiful Cuillin mountains. / I got very lucky with the light here, on a day when the / sun and clouds were playing cat and mouse. Towards evening, the sun broke through long enough to capture the light falling on the village of Merkadale below. / Talisker is famous for the distillery where many visitors go to taste the Malt Whisky. / I confess to being a heathen…....I prefer a nice Cabernet Sauvignon !! Shot on my Canon EOS 50D, on tripod, polarising filter, iso 100, cloudy wb, f16, 1/25sec, – 1 exposure compensation to retain that dark moody sky, canon 17-85mm IS lens set at 85mm, RAW file processed in Camera Raw, then levels/curves/ selective colour/ in CS3. / Sharpened with Intellisharpen. • Well, it rains more often than not on Skye, so a chance to use a photographic opportunity ! A few breaks in the cloud, the weak sun spotlighting the Landcsape…......click, shot in the bag ! / I love the thunder of water that echoes around me when I capture a shot like this, it raises my adrenaline level, and I confess to getting “high” !! / A late evening shot. A three shot HDR, RAW files, taken on my CanonEOS40D, mounted on tripod, f23, iso100, auto wb, polariser fitted to help blur the water a little more, (a ND would have done a lot more!), then processed in Photomatix, titivated up in Adobe CS3. Further enhancement, by duplicating the HDR image, applying full strength Orton, then layering back on to the original, (HDR!) and reducing the opacity until I was happy with the result !
