  • This is Annabella – she loves her home, and feels a strong connection to the tiny town she grew up in. She would love to stay there forever – home is definitely where her heart is!

  • Mountains surrounding Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa I took this photograph from the Seidelberg Wine Estate

  • views: 522 / favs: 15 Taken May 20, 2007 with a Fuji E-510. See my Miura Coast calendar. This rock in, known as Shiroyama (literally means “white mountain”), is located Arasaki Park (Yokosuka, Japan). Yokosuka is a city in Miura near Hayama, the town where I did my internship. Hayama is renowned for the beach and green hills, and this place was just a drive down. Hayama literally means “leaf mountain” in Japanese, and indeed Hayama is full of green mountains. The coast of Yokosuka, Hayama; along with other cities in Miura are popular for their beaches and offer a rich experience with nature. • Bodie Ghost Town in the Seirra Nevada Mountains in Eastern California. This 1800’s Gold town once had a thriving population of 10,000 people. It was a true wild western town with gun fights, saloons and a huge redlight district.

  • Table Mountain, late afternoon. Cape Town – South Africa

  • Oils on canvas. Cape Town, the city of my birth. Dusk falling and the lights are coming on under the shadow of the great mountain where I was born. When the ‘table cloth’ forms over the mountain, Van Hunks and the old devil are smoking their pipes like crazy in a never ending competition and the cloth of cloud falls over the table like a waterfall. (old legend). The sky is clear over the mountain here today and the sea becomes black and purple as the light shifts. The view is from Blauwberg Strand. Original oil painting is 30×40 inches. Wildlife, landscapes and Irish life paintings by Avril Brand Clare Artist Blog

  • Combination one room school house, church, community building, and town hall. These structures are scattered through out the Ozark Mountains, and the foothills of Arkansas. Sooooooo…... These types of scenes are very familiar to me, living here in the good ol’ natural state. My very first years of school began in a one room school house almost identical to this one, and it is now long gone.. When I look at this photograph, I can still see us all running, and playing in the school yard, and hear all of our laughter, and screaming. All the sounds of the children playing, as we went along in our merry, carefree younger days. I remember…........

  • Oil on canvas. ± 8” x 12”. December 2008. Another painting showing the view of Cape Town and Table Mountain (Western Province, South Africa) as seen from Bloubergstrand. I love trying to capture the forces of nature in paint on canvas but believe that only a camera can truly capture the beauty of this amazing and magical place. / Table Mountain has many moods and this view changes all the time, pure magic.. Worked on and off on this for the past few months and again did not use any reference for this. I used to love sitting on the beach and sketching the mountain a few years ago. These days I spend many hours in traffic but at least enjoy this amazing view while I am crawling to work.

  • This was the view that greeted me from my deckin Okotoks, Alberta in the early morning of Jan 9/09. I had to enhance it slightly in PS to bring the Rocky Mountains out of the haze, but it is pretty much the way I saw it. Hope you like it.

  • one of the few chances we had getting snow this year, it’s really been slim. / this was shot one morning on the back roads of my humble little town of townsend cuddled within the great smoky mountains. a true treat capturing the fog and the snow all together :) / and dont worry snowhog, your snowman will be coming soon :) (she knows who im talking about) / Best if viewed larger. / If you’re interested in buying this artwork, please go to the wildlife-appeal Shot this in SS mode / SS of 1/80 sec / F-stop of F/14 / ISO at 400 / Exposure Comp at 0 / Focal Length of 59mm

  • a fun depiction of Township life in Cape Town. I tried to show the sense of community that exists here.

  • I’d just spent 11 hours on the ferry from Piraeus to Kos Island, my first time on an overnight ferry like that and although I had dozed off once or twice, I hadn’t actually slept. I headed off in search of transport to the other side of the island – I was going to be staying in Kefalos again, a quiet little village with lovely beaches which remain comparatively quiet and great Tavernas which offer delicious local fare at very reasonable prices! As I set off from the harbour the world got bathed in glorious colours as the sun rose … I had to stop and dig the camera out!! :) The silhouetted skyline is the coastline of Turkey.

  • Looking towards Table Mountain from Woodbridge Island (Milnerton) on a day with no wind to blow away the smog hanging over Cape Town.

  • This little painting is the result of an oil sketch I did when I was in Katoomba recently. I love how when you drive or walk around Katoomba (or the other villages of the upper mountains) you often turn a corner or crest a hill and you find yourself confronted by the most spectacular view. There are a few spots which I really love. Whenever I was on my way to work (or whatever), these glimpses would energise me for the day ahead… reminding me of where we were… in a City within a World Heritage National Park. The way that civilisation exists along a narrow plateau which gives way to mountains and valleys also fascinates me. I often feel that Mother Nature is being incredibly generous in allowing our towns to flourish here… although she does remind us who’s boss occasionally…! This is the view across South Katoomba from the Mountain Heritage Carpark at the top of Lovel St Katoomba. Oil on Canvas / 40.5×30.5

  • A Colorado ghost town, near Telluride. / Wilson Peak is one of Colorado’s 14er’s. / The remnants of this old building make a unique and complex frame, more so in color.

  • My new found love in photography is mixing layers and layers of images. I have already had some wonderful finds of layered work in reflections but this kind of editing brings it to a whole other level. Finding what works well with another image is a challenge. But one that I enjoy very much. I have learned the in’s and out’s of working with layers by trial and error. If you’re thinking of giving this a try, I hope you will give your self time and not worry about the failures. The result is so worth the frustration of figuring it all out!! / / WOW, THANK YOU FOR THE HOME PAGE FEATURE!!! /
