  • An aerial view of Lake Burragorang, looking towards Warragamba Dam.

  • Canon EOS 20D, EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, Focal Length: 28mm, Aperture: f/16

  • This shot is taken overlooking the Jamieson Valley in the World Heritage area of the Blue Mountains National Park, outside of Sydney Australia

  • This photograph was taken at Evans Lookout in Blackheath, looking out upon the Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains National Park, Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. I arrived at this lookout just in time to catch a rain storm rolling through the valley and also a rainbow. I had the best of both worlds. I stayed at this lookout for about 15 minutes, just to see how long it took for the rain to arrive where I was, it didn’t take long, I’m always amazed how fast the weather moves up here.

  • Medlow Bath is located 2 hours West of Sydney, in the wonderful Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. This shot taken from the Hyrdro Majestic Hotel

  • BEST VIEWED LARGERT This shot was taken on the secenic tourist drive in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at sunset, it was created from 4 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. THe Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalkin g is a must !

  • Pitt Town, to the North-West of Sydney NSW, is where this was captured. While aiming to take a sunset picture, mind you. Both horse and rider had stopped to admire it.

  • Shot: Nikon D40X / Format: Raw / Time: 1.28pm / Exposure: 18.000 seconds / F No: 9.0 / Focal Length: 24.0mm / Tripod Used / Uv Filter Used This is a great walk to go and do! It’s not to hard and you see beautiful things the whole way! How to get there… Commencing from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area make your way to the information board from which you will observe a concrete pathway descending to the left. Follow the pathway as it travels beside the bubbling Leura Cascades creek. You will approach a small footbridge, at this there will be an intersection, you will note a weathered signpost indicating the direction of Leura Cascades, from this point head downhill to the Cascades. As you descend the fern covered stairs (handrails for support) to the Cascades you will hear the sounds of rushing water as the creek picks up speed. At the bottom, the Cascades are best viewed from beneath a rock cave looking back up the Cascades. A brief sidetrack can be made from the Cascades by following the path for a short distance to a lookout directly above the Bridal Veil Falls. Return to the picnic area via the same pathway.

  • Blue Mountains, Sydney

  • When you walk with me / Take a look / Not at the ground, / but at the beauty all around. / At the detail.

  • The only still-functioning steam tram in Australia. Two others are in museums and apparently not operational. These steam trams were common in early Sydney. I’m not a huge fan of trains per se, but you’ve got to admire the skill in designing, running and building such a machine run solely on steam.

  • some of the photos of a recent bushfire taken up the road from me,(leonay)someones cigarette started this!,the fire season in the blue mountains this year may be a biggy based on this?? unfortunately fire is a fact of life here.

  • Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia

  • Some of my favourite images…

  • BETTER VIEWED LARGER Watch the first step it’s a doozy ! The highest lookout in the Blue Mountains approximately 1100 metres above sea level. This lookout gives magnificent views over the Hartley Valley, as well as views of Lithgow. You can also walk or ride around the Lookout. The Blue Mountains “World Heritage” area is 2-3 hours west of Sydney, its majesty is well deserved with stunning views in all directions , well worth your time when visiting Sydney. This shot is the result of 5 bracketted images, processed in Photomatix, with a light sharpen and contrast in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 and Sigma 10-20mm lens

  • BETTER VIEWED LARGER This shot is of the old baths area Mr Wynne built the baths for his wife, the building is fitted with wonderful stained glass, and is now a museum. / I The curious thing in this shot was the flashy old style loo, which was china and decorated like a porcelain wedgewood dinner plate lol The Turkish Bath is an example of the Federation Free Classical style with an infusion of Italianate stylising. The bricks were made by Wynne. The building is in good condition and retains a substantial proportion of original fabric and integrity. Recent research indicates the Turkish Bath house was built (well) before 1890 for use by Richard Wynne’s wife Mary Anne, who had fallen into ill health and whose doctors had prescribed a course of Turkish baths. Mrs Wynne died in July 1889 of abdominal cancer (Previously it was assumed to have been built c1892). Surviving Turkish Bath Houses are extremely rare in Australia – Dunmore station in Western Victoria has one made of basalt, c1866 (Lewis, undated).
