An Australian Gentleman.
Captured in the cold dark waters of Blue Mountains’ Grand Canyon, near the main abseil. Timing is everything!
My first attempt at a soft waterfall, albeit handheld and within muttering distance of someone who sounded like he knew what he was doing!!! / So with a few attempts that ended up on the virtual ‘cutting room floor’ I think I’ve managed one that is passable. / Taken at Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney … on a photography outing with Warren Williams who was visiting from Sth Africa. NOW FOR A CROPPED VERSION as per Boz’z suggestion / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM
SEcond version – following Boz’s suggestion, cropped to allow the waterfall to fill the frame (and also remove a lighter distracting rock!) / / exp: 0.250s / ap: f16 / ISO: 160 / WB: Auto / No polarizer (perhaps a mistake as is was sunny) / Hand held / / It was a tad overexposed but RAW processing worked a treat. The Three Sisters – Katoomba, NSW Australia Legend of The Three Sisters The Aboriginal dream-time legend has it that three sisters, ‘Meehni’, ‘Wimlah’ and Gunnedoo’ lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. These beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbade them to marry. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a major tribal battle. As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come. . / . / / . / WARNING / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.

This waterfall is called Dante’s Glen which is at Lawson in The Blue Mountains / there are some picnic grounds near by and St Michaels and Fairy Falls. Thanks to Will Barton who took us on the Sydney meet up at the Blue Mountains!
The Valley of the Waters is @ Wentworth Falls In the Blue Mountains. The Valley of the Waters may be reached by a direct walking track, which descends steeply through temperate rainforest. Cool, moist, shady conditions prevail, and the area is a rich wildlife habitat. / Apart from the regular bushwalkers, you are likely to meet wetsuit-clad abseilers who like to take a more direct, and wet, route down the numerous waterfalls. / From the valley, National Pass takes the walker to the Wentworth Falls, then back up the cliffs to the village. / The Nature Track, & other cliff-top routes, make a good alternative for walkers who prefer to avoid the strenuous climb in and out of the valley. I made a video of this day, its on youtube http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=IUyyD0GvvsQ Shot: Nikon D40X / Format: Raw / Date: 2.8.08 / Exposure: 14.000 second / F No: 22.0 / Focal Length: 18.0mm / Tripod Used

Taken in the Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales. Shot with assistance from the lovely Sarah, fire-dancer. Timing was good; the universe sent us a lovely sunset, with that big black cloud dropping the water for us in the background.
