Dusk was approaching as I was setting up my tent after spending a day with the wild mustangs in the Pryor Mountains of Montana. The chill down the back of my neck was partially due to the cooling mountain air, and partially due to the feeling of being watched. As I was thinking about a beautiful white stallion that had taken his harem and run off, I suddenly heard a mustangs’ scream and the stomping of hooves. I whirled around, but nothing was there. Or was there?

Captured at Lake Burbury, on the West Coast of Tasmania, early morning as the clouds, fog and mists rose like spirits around the mountains.
it’s really strange how i came about getting this particular shot. i had seen this old tree with some ferns and moss on it, loved how many would think it was dead, was actually still giving life. so as im setting up my shot trying to get just the right composition for my title. / im looking thru the viewfinder and “he” comes into focus. I am meaning the wood spirit, / legend has it only a select few are allowed to see them, as they oversee the forests. i feel honored and priviledged to have been able to view this remarkable character. i found this in (of course) my mountains, only if you’re with me will i show you the location of him. / now everytime i see these shots, i always see “him”, can you? I shot this in sepia, BW and color, NO conversions, (aka changed camera settings) my personal fav is this sepia, i am adding the other two versions for those who like color and BW. if anyone would like a print or anything like that of the other versions, contact me and ill make them available for public view and sale :) the link above is for anyone wanting to read more about the legend of the wood spirits, alot of wood carvers carve his face and sell in this area.

Mindscape is a mental or psychological scene or area of the imagination. The word is most suitable to the filed of psychology. Mindscape has two words combined in such a way that the meaning goes beyond it – Mind and Escape… It can be translated as a Mind that wants to escape or a Mind that is in route of escaping. This adventure can be in the sense of reality or in spiritual world. / Depression sufferers escape from facts, hallucinates escape from reality, psychotics and neurotics escape from many other forms of life. We usually state that they are people who require help so that they can live an ordinary life. But who is to decide what is normal and what is abnormal? If ones can see the other side of horizon, according to them they deem the facts strongly that they hold about life, oneself and reality. They believe they are the right ones who are amongst wrong people. Are you one of them? I tend to assume we all are, one way or another. “Where There is Light, There Must Also Be Darkness”, “Every man has a good and bad angel attending on him, all his life long.” – Robert Burton (“Anatomy of Melancholy”) “Man is his own star, and the soul that can, render an honest and a perfect man,Commands all light, all influence, all fate: nothing to him falls early or too late. Our acts are angels are, for good or ill: our fatal shadows that walk by us still.” – John Fletcher (“Upon An Honest Man’s Fortune”) “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” – Bible: 2 Corinthians (11:13-15)
On an adventure into Rocky Mountain National Park recently, my friend Shiloh and I encountered this Native Stone Spirit on a trail…..we both just stood there staring in awe for a moment…..it was chilling to see this face in the stones…..a guardian of the land….I smile now, knowing he is watching over the trail and all the beings who pass this way…. Can you see him?

I see Hearts…..Love….in nature….in our world….everywhere….Yesterday on an outing in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, I looked out the car window to see the sun shining on the earth in a beautiful golden heart…..I was in awe and once again felt so inspired and blessed by the messages and gifts from Spirit….. Today, as we unite in a joyful celebration of change in this country, it is evident that we truly are all part of One Heart…we choose Love. Do you feel it? One Heart by Jan Garrett and J.D. Martin (an AWESOME video!!!) There’s a new church (earth) on the horizon / Made of light, not of stone / Calling out to all creation / You are not alone Lions and lambs, saints and sinners / Best of friend, enemies / Woman and man, losers and winners / They are all in you and me….we are One heart….looking for answers / One soul….finding our way in the dark / One dream….we share together / We are all a part of one heart Out in the cold there are faces / Hidden by the wind and rain / Hold out your hand, someone will take it / And bring you home again Around the world tonight / The fires are burning / Tears are falling from the sky / Still the world keeps turning
When I need to seek answers, when my heart and mind are confused, this is where I go … to the mountains. There is a peace there. Here I can sit and listen to my heart and look toward the heavens for the wisdom that I seek. In this quiet place I can hear my ancestors talking to me … my guides and angels can always find me there and I can find them. This is the spirit of the mountain.
The idea of sacred space has been one of the foundations of Native American philosophy throughout time. We see all life-forms as having their own life cycles, from the Stone (rock) people, to a Cloud person, or to a Standing (tree) person ~ they all have a space that deserves respect. Every creature being has its own territory and respects the territory of other animals. Two-leggeds (humans) also have a personal space that, if respected, becomes Sacred Space. This Mandala was created to represent ‘Sacred Space’ on the Blue Road to Spirit… teepees (home/shelter) in the cardinal directions: White/North; Yellow/East; Red/South; and Black/West (also symbolic of the 4 races). Day skies & Night skies, cloud people, thunder/lightening beings, standing people, mountains, sun and moon. Arrows of respectful friendship and feathers for the gift of respect. Sketch was photographed and painted, edited and filtered in Redfield Plug-in Fractilius, in photoshop7. 19×25 pastel on Sennelier La Carte paper FEATURED IN C.O.R.E., FRIENDS OF RED BUBBLE, FIRST THINGS, THE PATCHWORK, AND THE SISTERHOOD / She has been sitting on my easel for the longest time. I finally got inspired to finish her. I made her a lot bigger than the others in the series, so that should appease her for me taking so long on her. / She is the Spirit of the North Wind. It is the wind of Winter and of death, but also of rebirth. She gives us the wisdom to overcome death and to know it is not the end. We must walk through the Northern gate at the end of this life and she will be the one to usher us through. Listen to cold Winter wind, and let her help you release your fears into the darkness of the night. Also from the Series
Blessed spirits always land high above our troubles. “Pray the Lord a struggle starts inside you for a soul matures in battlefield only.” (Thomas Merton “The wisdom of the desert”) This is dedicated to my dear friend Pol along with my best wishes. The capture has been taken on East Humboldt Range in northeastern Nevada. Enjoy!

I was out looking for wild horses this morning and come across this gorgeous wild horse, she was not afraid of me at all , the wild horse is a gentle and free spirit. She was with a little black filly and stallion, a small herd, but it was just so breathtaking to get up close to them in the wilderness country. These are the wild horses that we are fighting to keep free and here in the West, We do not want them to be rounded up and sent back East, and put in some kind of zoo like atmosphere. Imagine never seeing these horses again as a part of our Western Hertiage? There has to be a moritorium on the wild horse roundups by the BLM . I will post more wild horses later from todays photo safari .
