Hi Bubblers – sorry I haven’t been around to admire your beautiful offerings lately but I’m just back from our annual caravan trip to the Italian Dolomites. I’ve waited many years to capture this gem of a lake in decent conditions and am fairly happy that I’ve done so. Lake Carezza and the Latemar mountains, near Nova Levante, Trentino, Italy.
Sometimes, not often enough in my opinion, I am lucky to get to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado at first light and this was one of those times. Just as the sun started hitting Long’s Peak, I almost ran the car off the road, to park and run in the back seat for my tripod…had to be done! Let me know what ya think! / —-John
Many of my marmot relatives live in burrows which look out onto this view! Their burrows emerge in meadows of swathes of colourful alpine wildflowers – it’s a tough life! :o) The peaks of the Sassolungo as seen from the Sella Pass, Dolomites, Italy.
An early sunrise at Mount Robson Campsite. The cloud covered mountain (middle of background) is Mount Robson. The peak of Mount Robson is the highest in the Canadian Rockies, towering 12,972 feet (3954 m) over the western entrance to the park. As well as occupying a portion of the Main (Park) Ranges of the Rockies, the park, one of the oldest in British Columbia, also contains the headwaters of the Fraser River, and, in the northwest section of the park, the massive Berg Glacier, notable for being one of the few living (or advancing) glaciers in the Canadian Rockies. Before the discovery of Mount Waddington on the central coast in 1925, Mount Robson held the distinction of being the tallest mountain in British Columbia.
A typical scene along the Jasper/Banff Parkway, during early August. On our way to Banff, were being followed by a nasty dark low front, packed with both rain and wind. I no sooner captured this scene and the approaching storm had caught up with us, shadowing the area under dark rain clouds and gusts of wind that pushed the storm onward.

Glacier National Park, Montana, USA / Trying something new, experimenting with my images in the Orton Style. Shot this with my Kodak Easy Share point & shoot camera. Brought it into Photoshop and added layers and different blending options as well as blur and sharpen. This artwork was featured on May 17th, 2009 in the group If It Doesn’t Belong
These mountainous type hills are near Superstition Springs Mountains outside of Apache Junction, Arizona. The small creek pools in this area, giving in return a wonderful reflection.

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery View to Cradle Mountain Cradle Mountain National Park, World Heritage Area, Tasmania. Cradle Mountain forms the northern end of the wild Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair National Park, itself a part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The jagged contours of Cradle Mountain epitomise the feel of a wild landscape. The Cradle Mountain region is an area of marked geological contrasts. The region has been extensively shaped by glacial erosion and deposition over the past 2 million years. The various glaciers which covered the area have left behind a variety of glacial features including the U-shaped valley of the Dove River. The view from Tipsoo Lake west towards Mt Rainier. The lake is still covered in snow pack but come later this summer the mountain reflection is stunning…Mt Rainier National Park 2009 07 26 Featured in the Group ‘All Parks’ / 2009 07 11 Featured in the Group ‘Black and White Photography’ Mt Rainier: At 14,410 feet, Mount Rainier is the most prominent peak in the Cascade Range. It dominates the landscape of a large part of western Washington State. Shot during a good spell of weather, this is part of the awesome Brenta Massif – probably my favourite peaks in the whole of the Italian Dolomites. It sounds cliched, but photos cannot do justice to the overpowering presence of these big rocks… Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EF 24-105mm L IS f.4
Tres Cruces, ( Jujuy ), Argentina ! Quick shot taken from a wobbling bus in the North of Argentina not far from Bolivia, just wanted to show this place because I find those hills quite amazing !
There are few places in Colorado that I love more than this one, and yes, it is a very iconic place, situated between Allenspark and Estes Park…and in Autumn it simply comes alive in ways I can not even begin to mention, the bushes turn a liquid gold in color, and everything resembles a painting….beauty in it’s most sincere form in Nature. I hope you all like it! / John /
Visit My Online Store Acrylic on acrylic paper. 11.5” x 8.5” Reference photo used from my own private collection. I’m broadening my skills by learning to paint with a more impressionistic style. I’m struggling with it at the moment and feel like an obsessive compulsive lol but I WILL integrate this style into more of my work. I am currently studying the works of Van Gogh (my first great impressionist love!) and Paul Cezanne. Both have styles that speak to my heart so deeply and profoundly, their work is so fluid and SPIRTUAL!!! Sigh…..swoon….lol. Also, I have to share with you the words of my inspirational Priest Fr Richard when I shared with him my first attempts at impressionistic landscapes, to which I stated that it was a break from my more serious religious art: Fr Richard: “Thanks for sharing your latest paintings – landscapes in an impressionist style is probably my favourite genre. I have a special thing for Cezanne! Your paintings are a great first attempt – I am sure even Monet would have been happy with them in his early days?! And any art that expresses something of God’s beauty and wonder is surely serious art? Don’t stray into a false dichotomy of spiritual and secular – all of life is meant to be spiritual!” He is such an inspiration! Not only is he my gift as my spiritual director but we have a great love in music and art with the same tastes! I have been so blessed! And he was RIGHT! I was SEPARATING my religious work from all of God’s beauty in creation. THAT was my MISTAKE and was the reason I was blocked in my ability to paint landscapes. I’ve been set free! hehehehe My Art Mentor was trying to tell me the same thing but now I get it! / /
