  • When the thunder comes and you are standing at 12,000 feet, this is probably the last place you want to be. So when the thunder comes and you are the highest object in the Colorado Rockies….run!!! Lightning strikes kill people in the high country every year and needles to say I pretty much high tailed it after shooting this, back to the car as quick as I could. Loveland Pass is a Colorado landmark, and looking here you look out over the Continental Divide. It is the highest mountain Pass in the United States to be plowed and stayed open year around, as trucks carrying hazardous chemicals must cross this way instead of using the Eisenhower Tunnel. I went ahead and decided to process this in HDR using Photomatix and final output through PS CS2, the reason for the HDR was to catch the dynamic light (which seems like I am always chasing) and the drama in the clouds with the approaching thunderstorm. LucisArt used for final detail work. • Lookout Mountain outside of Golden Colorado at Sunrise….quite an amazing morning! Thoughts most welcomed!

  • Summer, Night, Time.
    by Mark Hayward

    US$3.99–US$91.20

For me summer holiday memories are all about bare feet, the sea, the smell of aerogard and barbeques, and long days and warm nights often spent in a caravan park by the ocean. This piece is about all of that, but I also wanted to infuse it with a bit of darkness and mystery …Holiday villages are so full of life and colourful characters by day, but at night when all have gone to bed and secured their temporary little homes, they can be quite strange and creepy…

  • Swift Defeat
    by JayCougar

  • Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Let me know what ya think! Can ya hear the rustling of the leaves?? / —-John

  • Captured out on the plains of Eastern Colorado at Sunset, they just went on for miles and miles….like a fantasy world of never ending Sunflowers..processed in HDR

  • Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

  • Forgotten Fields
    by Holly Kempe

    US$3.99–US$91.20

“Forgotten Fields” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © “Whenever my journey gets hard to bear / To fields I go to meet You there. / The Holy psalms I shall recount / My horse of courage I shall mount. / My journey through this land gets longer / My hunger for Your home gets stronger. / When hills to climb get only steeper / My love for You gets only deeper. / I shall not stray nor lose my course / With rein in hand, I’ll guide my horse / To fields of good and plenty be / These fields, the ones You promised me / Are void of enemies and grief. / These fields supply me with relief. / I mount my horse, I’m on my way / And in Your fields, My Lord, I’ll stay.” / ~Marie Paradise Recent Sales: 1 x Card – unknown buyer – Australia / Thank you so much. / Profits donated to Starlight Childrens Foundation Australia See “Forgotten Fields” at my website /

  • The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

  • I love photographing in bad weather, there is just something about the drama of it all that amazes me, and this was of no exception. Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs is the location, a place which, is simply magical and unlike anywhere else on Earth…the light here is the best I have ever seen, and even when there is none, it still holds it own. Captured this past early spring, where at the higher elevations the clouds brought snow, but where I was at, it was rain. Processed in HDR with final output through PS. / Thoughts welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Lake Dillon, Colorado….. / Needless to say the morning I shot this, I was in total awe….it was quite an inspiring scene to see!

  • A New Years Sunrise While not a sunrise in the traditional sense of the word, but it sure seemed to be with the sun hiding behind the clouds, back lighting and glowing everything around me in a colorful haze in Moraine Park inside Rocky Mountain National Park. It was nothing but stunning! Quite the way to start and kick off the New Years I think! Processed in Photomatix HDR with 3 RAW files, then output through PSP 10, , shot on my 5D and Minolta 18-200 DT using a Singh-Ray CPL, and then hiding behind the car to shield myself from 80 MPH wind gusts lol The crazy thing is, the haze in the background, is actually from the snow that was falling and whipping around. Hope ya all like it! / —-John

  • Final Bout
    by JayCougar

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Time for the final bout, / Rows of deserted houses, / All our stable mates highway bound… / - Death Cab for Cutie

  • Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! • Our precious Virunga Mountain Gorillas in the Democratic Congo Republic near the Rwandan border in Africa, are extremely endangered mainly due to warfare, charcoal farmers and poaching; All dangers imposed by Man. Their numbers are severely diminished as they balance precariously near the brink of extinction. / 50% proceeds from sales of this print assist WildlifeDirect.org

  • Norway
    by Sam Mortimer

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Norway, the most beautiful country in the world – or so I personally think. Endlessly inspiring, every view mesmerising, I love it. I have tried to emphasise the ever-present tranquility by focusing on this pile of stones, quite a common site in western norway incidentaly. / I hope you like it!

  • Hillside Facing the Sun
    by John Fish

    US$3.99–US$91.20

“Climb if you must. But be prepared to fall down.” The old man’s voice shattered the daydreams the flowed through Ben’s young brain. / He ignored the comment and jogged up the deserted path toward the steep hillside ahead. Halfway up he stopped to enjoy the view. The colors of nature swept over him. The warm air blew the odors of sage and wild fennel and pine across his face which was flooded with sunlight. / He thought for a moment that this was where he wanted to be. From this point he could view the beauty of the scene completely. When he reached his destination, he would be looking back at where he had been as well as the other side. But he would not be able to enjoy the mountain silhouetted against the brilliant sun. / He ignored the thought and continued upward. He had to get to the top.

  • And there I stood in the middle of the New Mexican desert, awaiting the sun to come over the peaks of the Sandia’s….my tripod was so cold I couldn’t even touch it, thankfully I had the car behind me running, where I was returning to for some hand warming every 3 minutes. However, it was worth it! It is just so utterly tranquil, not a sound, lost in the vastness of nature….... Thoughts welcomed!

  • Winter rolls along in the Colorado High Country along the Mount Evans Wildernes. I decided to do this shot in B&W because I really wanted to emphasize the cold, the drama, and the atmosphere as a whole. Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated! / —John
