Anyone who has ever ridden or been a pillion a modern sports bike will know that the real fun starts when you hit the corners. But when you’re able to get a lean angle of 45 degrees around a corner, that is when you’re really living! That’s why “Life Begins at 45 Degrees”! Horray for Muscle Bikes! / Real riders don’t need to go and buy the latest fully faired two-wheeled crotch rocket. Who really cares how fast you can go in a straight line?! If you find it please let me know though. / Recently shot a short film with a friend and it involved getting some people on Thumper bikes in masks riding around. It’s best if I don’t get into it, but this is a still I took of his cousin Craig mid-wheelie. / It has no deep revolutionary aims, but I think it looks very nice. And I might buy one for myself. However I still agree with the title.

Having an overwhelming interest in customised transport, I created this piece as a self-caricature (and homage to Mad Max Thunderdome) during the recent upsurge in petrol prices- when it reaches $3 per litre, this is what I’ll look like! I drew the original piece with Indian ink and a brush, and then scanned it into Photoshop where I layered paint and textures over the original linework.
