  • Can’t win. Don’t try. Here’s a de-motivational poster of mine. I took the picture as well as doing the frame (oo-la-la, white text on a black background, fancy me) so I recommend if you buy this print you buy it unframed since I don’t know how to ask the good people here to include text in a frame.

  • A simple reminder that no matter where we are in life, we’re not alone. God is there to share our burdens. I’ve given this card to friends as an encouragement when they are going through hard times.

  • Dreams…..we all have them. Follow your heart…..who knows where it will lead.

  • Made for the ‘Motivational’ challenge. This is available without the border, as are all my other images that contain a border. It is also awailable without the wording. Please bmail me if interested.

  • / “At Times” is part of the Abstract Collection and is inpired by the poem of the same name....how many times when we reach a crossroad in our lives, we become afraid…suddenly all that we were trying to escape seem too good to lose, and the road ahead seems fraught with difficulties…but we’ll never know till we take that first step....for D… Watercolour on Arches Paper… At times the mountains seem insurmountable now / As I gaze at them from the safety of a warm, flowering meadow. / There is snow upon the peaks and chill winds / gust angrily above me. / Yet, as beautiful as the meadow is, I have been here too long. / And the song of birds have grown dull, / The flowers seem artificial, and the frogs too content. / I want to fly myself above the peaks, sing my own songs, / And climb till every vestige of every dream is silent. / Why am I afraid to travel where destiny draws me? / Why do I hesitate when a familiar echo deep in the caverns of my heart calls me? / This is no time to reminisce, to watch the circling crows and drifting clouds. / It is time to move lest winter harden my limbs and freeze my fantasies, / It is time to move boldly and bravely and remember / That the purest air is waiting in the heights / And a single step is enough to be on my way...J. Kavanaugh /

  • / The Thaw” is part of the Abstract and the Winter collection….on the surface it appears to be an abstract portrayal of the thaw that appears after the first snows have fallen or after a long winter when the earth warms up in spring, but this is a whole lot more…from the “crouching dark desolation” to the words “reprieve”....is it death, or the sentence of death, that we have escaped? And do we ever escape it... Watercolour on Arches Paper… A little breath / A green shoot thrusting through the snow / Ice-crusted, part-crushed, / But astonishing green / From crouching, dark desolation / Incarcerated / Secret root resistance crept / Radiant defiance / At slightest thaw springs / A forgiveness of melting / One trickling drop of icicle / Rolls down the prisoner’s grey face / Now he will clamor with the dawn chorus / And dare to shout out / Reprieve! / Reprieve!..Louise Rill

  • / “Peach with Half” is part of the Portfolio, Texture, Tropics and Food Collections..Acrylic on Canvas… The ripest peach is highest on the tree— / And so her love, beyond the reach of me, / Is dearest in my sight. Sweet breezes, bow / Her heart down to me where I worship now! / She looms aloft where every eye may see / The ripest peach is highest on the tree. / Such fruitage as her love I know, alas! / I may not reach here from the orchard grass. / I drink the sunshine showered past her lips / As roses drain the dewdrop as it drips. / The ripest peach is highest on the tree, / And so mine eyes gaze upward eagerly. / Why, why do I not turn away in wrath / And pluck some heart here hanging in my path? / Love’s lower boughs bend with them.. but, ah me! / The ripest peach is highest on the tree! • / “Blueberry Tart” came into being this weekend….I was leafing through old magazines looking for recipes to tear out before discarding, and there and then a new series called “Delicious” was born…it will tie in with my Portfolio and Abundance collections, but this will be all about the food itself without any distractions ... / More than just pictures of food, the series will be saying something about our culture and society, and what we consider to be appealing…what does food mean to us beside just keeping us alive? why do we need it to be embellished and attractive? what does it say about us as a society?....the paintings can stand on their own, but will look great grouped together. Below you can see a painting by the most famous painter of everyday things Wayne Thiebaud…I have no plans to follow Thiebaud and others like him, my style is different, but I do admire what he set out to do as a comment on our society, and that is what I would like to emulate ... Watercolour on Sennelier Not Paper… Both Robert Frost and Pablo Neruda, celebrated the simple things in life in their poetry…here is what Frost says about this incredibly healthful berry. Blueberries as big as the end of your thumb, / Real sky-blue, and heavy, and ready to drum / In the cavernous pail of the first one to come! / And all ripe together, not some of them green / And some of them ripe! You ought to have seen... Robert Frost / Cakes Wayne Thiebaud

  • / It is the simple indulgences in life that set us apart…that make us human…just think of the hot cup of coffee or tea, and the warm, softly glazed cinnamon bun waiting on a pretty plate at tea time or any time for that matter….I have placed mine simply on a mat….cut into it…pass a generous slice of it to your partner…there is enough for both….savour the sweet cinnamony goodness as it yields to your knife…Aah ... Did you know that October the 4th is Cinnamon Bun day in Sweden?...great idea I think…. “*Cinnamon Bun” is the 5th painting in the “Delicious” Collection…Watercolour on Arches Paper.. See the others in the Collection by clicking on the links below… / Scone with Berries and Cream Lemon curd and Blueberry Tart Strawberry Tart Blueberry Tart

  • / The latest addition to the Still Life and Textured Collections, “Still Life with Plums” like all the others is painted in a similar style, in watercolour, on pre-textured Arches Paper…..see more from both collections below…a quick trip to my earlier pages.. Apples, pears, and plates / never move or talk back.. / slow, long, arduous work / balance form with form.. / color with harmonious color / portraits absent of emotion and personality… / nothing is more than a / conventional geometric starting point, / obsessed with unfulfilled / passions.....Cezanne / / Pears, Grapes and a Single Plum / / Figs, Pears, and Nuts / / Still Life with Citrus / / Cheese with Fruit / / Homage to Cezanne / / Still Life with Melon

  • A new addition to the Market Series, “Blueberries” is painted in Watercolour on Arches Not Paper Blueberries as big as the end of your thumb, / Real sky-blue, and heavy, and ready to drum / In the cavernous pail of the first one to come! / And all ripe together, not some of them green / And some of them ripe! • Feature Cards for Everyday – 3/8/09 My brother and his wife hold a “small groups” meeting every Sunday night in their home. Upon arrival, right at 6:00pm on March 1, 2009, I just had to stop and take some pictures of this amazing sunset. It’s a neighborhood, so the trees and house tops appear as silhouettes. Edited with HDR and Orton affect. Sale of a card and matted print to a mystery buyer

  • Expect to have hope rekindled. / Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. / The dry seasons in life do not last. / The spring rains will come again. Sarah Ban Breathnach

  • / The latest additon to the Everyday Things Collection is “Still Life with Picture Wire” ....this series is very personal to me in that they represent objects and tools, that are part of my life…I remember being told long ago by an art expert, that it is best to paint what you know, and I feel that the things I use, not only contribute to the quality of my life but have an intrisic beauty of their own... Mighty Leaf teabags are so pretty even when used…all that stitching and silky mesh / Astonishingly, I just found out a couple of days ago from Mingtees, about a world famous artist who has painted the very same everyday things that I do…’How wonderful” I thought…most of those pieces were done some time ago and I am very curious to see how he did them…his newest works on exhibit at the Pace Gallery now include the real tools actually hanging from the canvas…it proves to me that we certainly don’t work in a vacuum…there are probably many other artists around the world who feel the same way as I do and paint the same things... Watercolour on Saunders Waterford Hot Pressed Paper / Enigma…A Stii Life / Still Life with an Awl / The Legacy / Still Life with Old Dandelion Stencil and Terracotta Pots / Still Life with Wellingtons / The Sap Bucket
