  • Contemporary art. Digital painting. Printed on only highest quality archival paper or canvas with average permanence rating from 75 to more than 100 years. A little pond is almost lost in dense bushes. Although some clouds are mirroring in water’s surface, that does not mean much. The clouds clearly not in a rainy mood – just playful, that is it. I cannot to lie, I am jealous to the flying creatures. It should be quite exciting to play around such a good looking nature – kind of a dream day-off to enjoy… The composition easily leads you eyes to original realm of the small part of the world and gifted your with inside beauty of a nature. This colorful work is a welcome addition to living or working space of any kind. The art is healing, and especially art of such a kind. This painting will do more than just uniquely decorate your space. It will help you eliminate subtle dysfunctions in your health and improve your mood on a constant basis.

  • “Resistance” because it associates a very human trait to the image which is that of resisting the plunge. I feel this way myself at times; standing on the edge of the next stage in life as if I were about to launch myself into a furiously raging river. It is not the longing desire for new experience and growth which is most prevalent at these times but that stinging moment of resistance during which one must decide to hang on let go. / The white blur on the wings of this blue dragonfly results from the strong tailwind pushing it to let go. I was torn between two titles for this image; “Launch”, due to the dragonfly’s perched position and resistance to the current of air literally forcing it forward, or the word “Resistance” itself. / This critter is a blue dragonfly, Common Pondhawk or Libellula of some type. There’s such a variesty of dragonflies it’s hard for me to ID them. If someone knows exactly what dragonfly this is, I would appreciate your letting me know. / /

  • The Merced River (pronounced “mer-SED”) is in California. Its headwaters are in the southern half of Yosemite National Park. The river flows into Yosemite Valley. Much of the water is stored behind the New Exchequer dam in Lake McClure, and diverted by the Merced Irrigation District at the Crocker-Huffman diversion dam. The remainder of the water flows southwest through foothills, and then across the San Joaquin Valley to join the San Joaquin River. The Merced River is protected under the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. It is free flowing until Lake McClure and tends to flood in the winter and spring, and then reduce to a mere trickle in the late summer and fall. Highway 140 runs along part of the Merced River and is the main road into Yosemite National Park. Numerous recreational opportunities are available along the Merced River including fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, camping, hiking, swimming, and picnic areas. Photo taken with Canon IXUS

  • These alien-looking creatures are is named for its their translucent, moonlike circular bells. Instead of long, trailing tentacles, moon jellies have a short, fine fringe (cilia) that sweeps food toward the mucous layer on the edges of the bells. Prey is stored in pouches until the oral arms pick it up and begin to digest it. / The coloration of a moon jelly often changes depending on its diet. If the jelly feeds extensively on crustaceans, it turns pink or lavender. An orange tint hints that a jelly’s been feeding on brine shrimp. Scientists have studied the life cycle of this jelly extensively. They know the adult male moon jelly releases strands of sperm, which are ingested by female moon jellies. After fertilization, larvae settle on or near the seafloor and grow into polyps. Polyps alternate between feeding and reproductive stages for up to 25 years. In the reproductive phase, polyps launch buds of cloned juveniles, known as ephyrae, which grow into adult medusae. Found worldwide in temperate and tropical waters, moon jellies feed in quiet bays and harbors. Although moon jellies have a sting, they pose little threat to humans. / / Scientific Name: Aurelia labiata / Habitat: Open Waters / Animal Type: Invertebrates / Diet: small plankton, like molluscs, crustaceans, fish eggs and other small jellies / Size: to 15 inches (38 cm) in diameter / Range: common in Monterey Bay and along the California coast, and in the waters off the East Coast, Europe, Japan and the Gulf of Mexico / Relatives: Portuguese man-of-war, hydromedusae, other siphonophores, sea anemones, coral; Family: Ulmaridae Nikon D700 Featured: Cards: Animals and pets group, September 2009 / Featured: AW Welcome Center group, August 2009 / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/12534471

  • From Osaka-Info Natural park (quasi-national park) of arresting scenic beauty spreading through about 100- to 600- meter high mountains in the northern part of Mino City. In the park a long gorge runs through forests from the magnificent Mino Waterfall, about 33 m high and 5 m wide, forming a habitat for 980 species of plants and over 3,000 species of insects. Located in precious natural forests in Osaka Prefecture, the park is the western starting point of the Tokai Natural Trail. Visitors can enjoy seasonal changes in the scenery, such as cherry blossoms in spring, trees covered with ice and hanging icicles in winter and especially the brilliantly colored leaves late in fall. The Mino Mountains are an ancient sacred site of Mountain Buddhism, where there are old temples, including Ryuanji Temple (otherwise known as Mino Temple), an important training center said to have been established by En-no-gyoja, the founder of Shugendo. Mino Insect Museum, which is located on the way to the waterfall, is also well known. At the museum visitors can see not only about 10,000 samples of insects, but also over 200 live butterflies of about 30 species, and learn about their year-round ecology.
