I was messing around with my camera on Mother’s Day and thought I’d try the lovely cliched coffee-mug-splash idea. Amazingly, this heart just pitched up in one of the splashes… especially wonderful since I was using a heart printed mug. I figure it was put there by God just for me, an extra Mother’s Day gift. Happy Mothers Day! I was woken early this morning by my son tapping at the front door, his new kitten in one hand….....and a grocery bag full of goodies for breakfast in the other…... / He cooked bacon and eggs, made coffee, gave me my presents then let me take photos of his kitten. The only way to get ‘Cookie’ to calm down was to place him on my son’s back…. / The result was….. they both fell sound asleep (my son works nights) on the floor. / It was the best morning, I love him with all of my heart :) / What a Wonderful World Louis Armstrong What A Wonderful World I see trees of green, red roses too / I see ‘em bloom for me and you / And I think to myself, what a wonderful world I see skies of blue, clouds of white / The bright blessed days, and dark sacred nights / And I think to myself, what a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow / Are so pretty in the sky / It’s also on the faces / Of people goin’ by / I see friends shakin’ hands / Sayin’, “How do you do?” / They’re really sayin’, “I love you.” I hear babies cry, and I watch ‘em grow / They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know / And I think to myself, what a wonderful world / I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Cody Redmon Interesting concept – great application. I, too, see the impression of water/waves in this one, but I see something else too. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned it, but to me it appears as though a woman is laying in deep blue water with an outstretched arm, legs extended, one slightly behind the other, lounging on the face of a cresting wave. This is one crazy simple brilliant deep photo, really nice work Rosina. taken in merimbula nsw

It was Mother’s Day when we went to San Juan Atitan, in the hills of northern Guatemala. They take it pretty seriously up there. Fiesta country. Everybody- bar nobody (except us visitors)- was dressed in these fantastic outfits- brown woolen vests, purple and maroon and red shirts, the men in white dress pants and straw boaters. It was a sight to see en-masse, hundreds of them gathered in the plaza, all in a festive mood. Jorge works for us as a development worker in his own communities, helping mobilize families in the various long-term projects we carry out up here. He smiled a lot more than this, but the moment the camera went in his direction, he looked very serious. But that is one snazzy outfit he has. I think the next time I go I’ll have to get one of my own… :o) May 2007.
