I saw this woman as i wandered through a Rwandan hospital. There, in the stark hospital room, she sat admiring this tiny creature with such love and gentleness. Her contentment of knowing that this tiny baby was hers. / I could not resist but to capture it.

WILD & FREE / / Honey (named after the colour of her eyes) and her three cubs were very obliging to rest on this ridge whilst they scanned the plains for breakfast. Taken in the Masai Mara early one morning about half an hour after sunrise, this is one of my favourite images and I find myself always coming back to it. / / (Masai Mara – Kenya) / / The world’s fastest land animal, the cheetah, is a unique and the most specialized member of the cat family and can reach speeds of 70 mph. Unlike other cats, the cheetah has a leaner body, longer legs, and has been referred to as the greyhound of the cats. It is not an aggressive animal, using flight versus fight. With its weak jaws and small teeth, the price it paid for speed, it cannot fight larger predators to protect its kill or young. The cheetah was once a common animal found on five continents, but is slowly losing its race for survival and is now classed as an Endangered Species! This is a collaborative transatlantic entry between myself and the incredibly talented and totally awesome billyboy in Belgium for RedBubbles Gaia – The Living Planet competition. Now, I’m not a religious person, but I wanted to illustrate by using billyboys Noah’s Ark image that if we dont start taking care of this planet we are living on I truly / believe we will be in for a disaster of biblical proportions. All that is beautiful and wondrous will simply disappear… like so many ephemeral bubbles. We are all interconnected, and we must find our harmony with Gaia, or risk losing it all. Many thanks to billyboy for sharing my vision, and giving so generously of his time, blood, tears and love to bring this vision into glorious life. Concept: Rhana / Background artwork: Billyboy / Art within the bubbles: Rhana / Bubble creation: Billyboy / Design: Rhana / Title Inspiration: Billyboy For those interested in buying the totally hawt tee of this image its now available over at billyboys place. Proceeds from sales of the tee go to the STV Foundation.

Mordron Is the Welsh Mother Goddess. / Our earth, we need to came to fundamentals. / We must remember where we come from. I used many fractals here. I wanted to depict the “unreal” part of this world representated by Her Mother. / Tool of the trade is Paint Shop Pro. / One photo of the model, then about 40 layers of fractals. arf arf… i cut and pasted a lot, above all to make the details of the dress. If you look closely you’ll also find a dandelion over the dress ;) I usually embedded the layers using various blend mode, my faves are soft light, hard light & overlay! / The bg is also made using various fractals, merged together thanx to blending ;) —-—-—-—-—-— My gallery is Copyright © Wandering Soul. A stray cat wandered into my house and gave birth in a flower pot (not very smart). I then moved the kitten into a shoe-box and padded it with clothes to make a nice soft bed! This was taken when it was still in the pot.

At one with the forest, she slowly becomes a part of it, the creatures around her, accepting, willing her presence. She is beauty, she is the earth, the Lady of the forest Large view recommended A collaboration with the very talented Kellie Cranmer, who is the beautiful model and main focus of Lady of the Forest. Model – the stunningly beautiful kcranmerart / / This work was inspired by the wonderful digital painting work of Jussi Lehtineimi After seeing one of this artists digital paintings, I just knew I had to try and crate a photomontage version of it, making some changes to it as well to make it my own. / / Background created with stock images from sxc.hu Thank you to some extremely talented photographers Main Forest by Mailsparky / Fox by Joel Terrell / Tree and bank by Sarah Moses / Dragonfly by hopallong / Mossy Forest Floor by Stephanie L / Fungi by Constantin Jurcut / Squirrel – awaiting photographer approval before providing link [permission for use granted]. / / All clover, flowers, lighting, shadows and grasses created with Photoshop tools. / / I absolutely love how this piece turned out. OMG the very talented RACHEL LEIGH has nominated JUST BOOTS for the Pay it Forward Group She said ” “I love this photo because I know how difficult it is to get good pet shots and the lighting is just superb in this photo. Boots is as cute as can be and she captured him beautifully!” To me this is the highest compliment, thanking you so very much Rachel :O)) Waiting patiently for his morning walk…... Boots our dearest Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, has the unfortunate name, as being black and tan he has golden lower legs. He was born during the rugby world cup when England actually won something and as his breeder was a rugby fan she called him Golden Boots, after Johny Wilkinson! Started photography May 2008 Sold laminated print RB 23/03/09 BILLYBOY gave the most wonderful compliment when choosing Just Boots. I’m actually kind of glad this is in the Paws & Claws group because now that I’ve been given the opportunity to choose a picture from the group to single out, it’s fitting that my favorite pet picture of all time is right here so I can tell the world just how deeply I love it… / There are so many ways this works for me. The depth of field and selective blur draws attention to the perfect focusing on and around that amazing face, and I like the way the crop being slightly off center works so perfectly with the drape of the ears and the shape of the body. / The lighting is perfect and so natural… no blown out highlights or loss of shadow detail… the quality and direction of the lighting bring out that amazing detail in the facial fur and allows for that subtle reflection on the contrasting smooth surface into which he seems to be slowly melting. Also, the color space of the background matches the subject so perfectly that it’s a pleasing image to the eye even without taking the artistic level of the content into consideration. But I think what REALLY gets to me about this amazing shot is the affect the shooting angle has on drawing me into this pooch’s character. We’re down at his level, as if on equal terms with his world, and I feel as if I’m staring straight into his soul through those deep and all-knowing eyes… the connection between me and Boots is personal through this stunning image. This is a massive work of art and I am honored to be able to exaplin why it’s so special to me. Thanking you so very much Billy, it is such a wonderful compliment. xx Taken with my Sony F717, 800 ISO equiv. Lighting courtesy of my daughter holding a torch as there wasn’t enough natural light! Changed partially to sepia, then bluring and darker tones added for mood…..... Would make a super card ideal for any occasion, Birthday, Thank You, etc…. © Copyright 2008 Squealia, All Rights Reserved /

Dedicated to my dear friend Birgitta! / / This one’s for you girl! A beautiful poem written by my wonderful, talented friend Lina…you inspire us all! / / Tree Nature / She kept growing beyond her means / what I mean is, / she kept growing beyond what she desired yesterday, / she thought / if only, / If only I was … better at this…. Problem was she did become better at everything / she desired to become better at! / and still, more / would call her forth like a tree in the forest.. / she fell so many times / yet, none seem to hear her falling / her pain / her fears except maybe her own heart. That felt lonely. Until, / One day she looked deep within / And it was here / She saw and felt / Her tree nature appear / Like a totem / A solemn answer / To the questions she brought / forth She branched out within herself / And the expectations began to subside / What she discovered was / She was best at growing / Some would call it expanding. If she could learn to live in the moments / Between desire, expansion desire.. / She thought perhaps I could find a balance / Of sorts, / Contentment at best / Liberation from her limitless / Limits!! After all, she was like a tree / Happiest when she was in the process / Of Becoming!! / It was only in the thought that she needed to arrive Anywhere That pain seemed to preside / And fear would rear So she planted her feet squarely underneath her and / Allowed her tree nature to shine through. All manner of miracles happened then. / She discovered the art of / Allowing / And her Art, the very core of all that she was and is, / Flourished / Because she knew, She, / Like a tree, Just kept on growing, / Until growing became knowing Knowing, We are never finished and we are never done. Steer II (Missy Higgins) / / Pencil drawing, digital colouring The Golden Elephant – story and art by Karin Taylor / A long long time ago in a tropical land where the papaya grow wild and free, there lived a golden elephant who’s beauty was unsurpassed. All the creatures were mesmerised by what appeared to be the sun entering the water when she swam and when she walked on the land everyone stepped aside, as elephants were revered. Legend has it, the golden elephant was once a beautiful warrior princess. Once, in midst of of a terrible battle with her enemy about to take her life, she made a wish that she could become an elephant, for then no harm would come to her. The beautiful warrior princess was granted her wish, tho could sadly not return to her human form, and so it was that the golden elephant lived forever, bringing warmth and light wherever she went. During the darkest nights when the stars hid and the moon disappeared, the beautiful golden elephant shone like the sun, lighting the way for pilgrims on their journey. Although very happy she got what she wished for, the golden elephant found herself still thinking the grass was sometimes greener on the other side. Indeed she would have liked to be human again. But she accepted her new role and did the best she could with her gift of light.
