A stray cat wandered into my house and gave birth in a flower pot (not very smart). I then moved the kitten into a shoe-box and padded it with clothes to make a nice soft bed! This was taken when it was still in the pot.

I saw this woman as i wandered through a Rwandan hospital. There, in the stark hospital room, she sat admiring this tiny creature with such love and gentleness. Her contentment of knowing that this tiny baby was hers. / I could not resist but to capture it.

Honey (named after the colour of her eyes) and her three cubs were very obliging to rest on this ridge whilst they scanned the plains for breakfast. This is a collaborative transatlantic entry between myself and the incredibly talented and totally awesome billyboy in Belgium for RedBubbles Gaia – The Living Planet competition. Now, I’m not a religious person, but I wanted to illustrate by using billyboys Noah’s Ark image that if we dont start taking care of this planet we are living on I truly / believe we will be in for a disaster of biblical proportions. All that is beautiful and wondrous will simply disappear… like so many ephemeral bubbles. We are all interconnected, and we must find our harmony with Gaia, or risk losing it all. Many thanks to billyboy for sharing my vision, and giving so generously of his time, blood, tears and love to bring this vision into glorious life. Mordron Is the Welsh Mother Goddess. / Our earth, we need to came to fundamentals. / We must remember where we come from. I used many fractals here. I wanted to depict the “unreal” part of this world representated by Her Mother. / Tool of the trade is Paint Shop Pro. / One photo of the model, then about 40 layers of fractals. arf arf… i cut and pasted a lot, above all to make the details of the dress. I was asked to take some photos very late into her pregancy. I arrived bright and early to be informed that she had started having contractions the evening before. Talk about cutting it close! I thought she did a fantasic job of looking calm and relaxed!

Thrilled at being asked to take some pictures for my friends who are expecting their fist child, I jumped at the chance and suggested something a little different to the shoot they may have been thinking of having at home… / Shot out in the desert, west of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on an overcast and windy day… work in post processing, sat in my warm house on an even more overcast and windy day… winters here! / Read my journal for a description of the day… crowds and all!

Obviously I have a great love for these critically endangered bengal tigers, as they are amongst my favorite photographic subjects. It always amazes me how such large and powerful creatures can also be so gentle and affectionate. I could sit and watch Mama Tiger and her cubs for hours and never get tired of it… The white tiger isn’t something that is found in nature, and is a product of humans breeding them for the “white tiger trade.” All white tigers can be traced back to a single tiger born with a genetic mutation in the 1950s that created a white coat and blue eyes. This tiger’s “owner” immediately saw dollar signs and started to breed him to produce other white tigers. Naturally, this required a great deal of inbreeding, which has led to many white tigers having all sorts of genetic problems. Not only this, but about 3/4 of the cubs born in the white tiger trade are actually orange. These “undesirables” are either killed or sold to game farms where brave hunters pay to shoot and kill these captive animals. All of the white tigers I have photographed have been those that were fortunate enough to have been rescued from the breeding trade. Most white tigers aren’t so lucky. You can help put an end to this trade by not going to circuses and animal parks that purchase white tigers from breeders. When the demand ceases, this practice will cease as well. 100% of the profits from the sale of this image will be donated to Big Cat Rescue.
