Garlic and chilli prior to being mortar and pestled for bolognese sauce. They were crushed along with a dash of virgin olive oil, whole black and red peppercorns, rock salt and fresh basil picked from my garden. Eventually cooked and simmered slightly with a brown onion, a dash of red wine and kalamata olives thrown in the mix along with some chopped fresh tomatoes. I took this image because I loved the organic natural woody textures and tones that beset them in the kitchen light. :)) Featured in the Natural Light and Color Group and the If it doesnt belong group!

Just finished coloring my latest piece (although I actually sketched this about 5 years ago on a city bus on the way home from art school), and it’s looking pretty good. My original thought on this as I drew it was that this guy needed a big frickin’ gun. No, wait.. a HUGE frickin’ gun! The kind that would, in no way, be able to be supported by his weight alone. In fact, the gun-to-guy weight ratio balance would be off so badly that he would be lying on his back in about a second. But, this isn’t real life, and nothing even says this is an illustration of anything from our universe so maybe he’s on another planet or something. Yeah, that’s it.. Overall, I’m happy with the way this turned out. I originally didn’t plan on adding in the smoke or spark effects, but I thought it needed something more so I started playing around with smoke and that eventually led to a much larger idea: the character seems to be literally ripping apart or on the verge of exploding. Very cool. I’m working on improving my coloring speed and overall composition, so hopefully you’ll enjoy this latest addition to my illustration/print portfolio.
This back alley was in quite a sad state… garbage and broken beer bottles were strewn about, all the windows on the ground level were smahed and boarded up. The walls were painted with graffiti that were illegible and faded with the passing of time. It was quite a fantastic spot! / / More in this series: / Urban Artist / / / Sandman / / / The Scribe / / / Tagged / / / Writing’s on the wall / / / The View / / / Bubblegum Graffiti / / / Marley / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

Carrickfergus castle has lots of peep holes nooks and crannies … and archers windows designed so that a wide angle of movement could be achieved to shoot arrows at enemy intruders …
At a 20-minute walk from my house and one of my favourite spots in my hometown, the Maison Melançon was built in 1787 on the south shore of Montreal, on the actual site of the Parc de la Promenade in Candiac. The town council has decided to buy it in 1968, and to use it as a meeting place for a ski-doo club and as a community center. This beautiful ancestral house has now become the local arts and culture center. It is very detailed, so it is really hard to appreciate over the internet. To give you an idea, I had to upload a PNG file for this one, because a jpeg at even the lowest possible compression just shredded the details to bits. The artwork was created in ChaosPro, and the gradient was created in the ChaosPro gradient editor. This is a pure fractal with not post-processing work done, so the details would not be diminished or degraded. The original is 6000×4800 pixels at 300 pixels an inch. / /

A mural found on a school wall. The mural no longer exists for the old school has been demolished. / The message still remains for us today…
It could be the name of a video game, or that of a recording studio. It could even be a folk music group from Vancouver, or the name of a celtic rock group from Scotland. It could also represent some characters from a novel… but most likely, it could be a name that they have given themselves, the squatters who live in the disused buildings around the Old Port of Montreal.
