  • This past week saw me shooting like crazy, making a record 3 trips to the Mount Evans Wilderness Area and surrounding areas in 4 days. Without a doubt, this scene is one that just has to smack travelers and tourists in the face. situated at 10,600 ft (3,230 m) above sea level, the view literally comes out of no where. You round this corner unexpectedly on a twisty road, and all the sudden out of no where you are greeted with this huge lake and THIS scene of mountains and it floors you. The scene itself is just so, well, incredible, like something you usually only see in a fine art painting, or in some distant land in National Geographic….honestly, it is one of the most amazing views I believe I have ever seen. Personally I much prefer it to The Maroon Bells which is better known, and why it’s better known is beyond me. / So hang tight folks, I have MANY new photos to come and share with you all. Let me know what ya all think!

  • When the warm sun hit the ground in the woods near Lage Vuursche/The Netherlands on a beautiful spring morning in early May, you could see the steam rise. Or were the spirits of the morning dancing a welcome dance for the sun that kissed them awake? / Taken near Lage Vuursche in the Netherlands. Near Lage Vuursche, 2nd May 2008, 8.51 am / Panasonic DMC-TZ3, 4,6-46 mm at 24 mm / F 4,8, 1/60, ISO 100

  • Featured in Mood & Ambience March 21, 2009. BEST VIEWED FULL SIZE! I snapped this guy in the early morning of March 19, 2008. Although the crocus actually precede the daffies and the jonquils in our yard, we don’t count them as true harbingers of spring. Fact is, the crocus only last about a day or so before the deer eat them. So when the daffies and jonquils come up we know it’s really, finally spring!!! The blooms on these are about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Image taken with the Nikon D40x with the 55-200mm VR lens.

  • *Sunflowers and Colorado Sunsets * Revisiting the Sunflower fields I miss so much, a magical place on the eastern plains of Colorado like no where else, a place one day I hope returns. As the front rage of the Colorado Rocky Mountains dances with the setting sun, this scene seemed something out a paradise lost, the kind of thing you only ever read about. On this day when shooting the sunset here, I shot over 400 shots and came back quite a few other times as well. Well worth it I would say! Hope ya all like it! / —-John Minolta 5D / Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Marumi ND4 / Dynatran Tripod
