Taken on Stockton’s Beach north of Newcastle this image captures the stillness and warms of the huge sand dunes before the 4WD’s and walkers arrive to explore this desert like region.

Taken at Boambee river just south of Coffs harbour…......lovely spot for that time of the morning!!
This photo was taken on yet another visit to the Oregon coast. I love it out there! Though often rainy, or spritzing, to me the OR coast is beautiful in any weather. This shot was captured as I was taking a morning walk on the beach. The ocean was calm, the sand wet, a bit of fog lay low on the horizon, and no one else was out there except an older couple walking together holding hands. There’s very little differentiation between the sky, sea and sand in this photograph, and the only thing that really stands out in contrast are the two figures of the couple. It looks, to me, as if they could walk on forever into the infinite distance and as if everything else fades around them when they are together.

The settlers built a Doric Temple to Athena on top of the crag in 530 BC. From this temple Hermias of Atarneus, a student of Plato, ruled Assos, the Troad and Lesbos for a period of time, under which the city experienced its greatest prosperity. (Strangely, Hermias was actually the slave of the ruler of Atarneus.) Under his rule, he encouraged philosophers to move to the city. As part of this, in 348 BC Aristotle came here and married King Hermeias’s niece, Pythia, before leaving to Lesbos three years later in 345 BC. This ‘golden period’ of Assos ended several years later when the Persians arrived, and subsequently tortured Hermias to death. The Persians were driven out by Alexander the Great in 334 BCE. Between 241 and 133 BC, the city was ruled by the Kings of Pergamon. However, in 133 BC, the Pergamons lost control of the city as it was absorbed by the Roman empire. St. Paul also visited the city during his third missionary journey through Asia Minor, which was between 53-57 AD, on his way to Lesbos. From this period onwards, Assos shrunk to a small village, as it has remained ever since. Ruins around Assos continue to be excavated.

I played on these rocks as a child, even split my head open on many occasions. Everytime I go back to Fraserburgh, Scotland I love to come and sit here and watch the waves, boats and smell the air, plus I would have some Italian ice cream to keep me company, yes there is a fantastic Italian ice cream parlour there. I hope you like the shot, this one was in the morning. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/2.8, 1/8 sec, ISO 100. ND 6 used. Dust and scratches removed in photoshop. Saturation and Contrast +2 added in PS. VIEW LARGE ON BLACK HERE / Wow, what a morning! Action packed to say the least. The ocean can be very intimidating at times, enough to make you feel like a very small insignificant speck on the face of this earth. I was blindsided 3 times by rogue waves, I was soaked from head to toe, camera escaped thankfully, but I was constantly shooting and fleeing this morning. I didnt know photography could be this physical :) No filters used / f/11 / PP done in photoshop
