Click on the images below for a more detailed close-up / / “Finches On Parade” is about the communal abstract chatter that one encounters when in amongst a crowd of like-minded personalities. / I have chosen not to emphasize the precise detail of each bird but rather their general shape as they caper around, to give the impression of constant movement. I was inspired this morning after reading and commenting on Julie Langford’s Post. It made me remember that sometimes the journey – the people you meet, the things you learn along the way – is more important than the destination. So despite the bitter frosty morning I rugged myself up (two thermals are better than one) and set out to greet nature and the day with Sami and my trusty tripod in tow. Turns out The Day had advance warning from Nature that I was coming (I think it was the blue wren who visits me that let the secret out)... and together they turned on an absolutely gorgeous – albeit bloody freezing – show. This is most likely the easiest image I have ever had in post production, the only enhancement it has had is a slight vignette added. For the mist gently rising off the water… the glorious colour… the frost on the reeds… the delicate reflections… the beautiful ray of illuminating light… I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Nature and The Day. Title inspiration from Newton Faulkner’s song “Gone in the Morning” Best viewed LARGE

My new wolf friend seemed to like having his pictures taken – he stared “up close and personal” right into the lens. I believe it is only fitting to donate the proceeds of the sale of this image to a park that more than 200 wolves call home! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

My new friend posed and wanted me to get his face “right”, although I am still not sure that I did. I tried though. Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

Mixed media on canvas This abstract artwork was inspired from one of my photos featuring a beautiful farm tree and a serene countryside. In this work I really wanted to create a peaceful ambiance and something very natural and calming. I saw it first in a vision, I saw a large tree being surround by lightness and flowing soft colors. I call it Daybreak for the light that seams to be on the tree branches and the soft blue hues of color like the morning mist surrounding this earthen beauty, just before daybreak. Fog slowly lifts from the coves floor. Dawn has awakened all of nature to a new day. The coolness of night still lingers. The dew clings to all it has touched for it knows its time has come to leave. In a few hours Cades Cove will be bathed with the warmth of a new day………Imaged made from 4 shots stitched in CS3.This also is my 1st attempt at a stitched panoramic……taken in Cades Cove,GSMNP…..This is 1X4 version I’m working on a 1X3 that I’ll post later…..shot a couple weeks ago while shooting with Sherri and Ronnie Hamilton Sherri

Another not entirely right panorama from a camera my father made. Using these little cameras were a bit of a trick at times but the results were so various and mad that I love them. There are only five in this series. Below is a thumbnail of some Dad’s camera’s His camera always produced much better photo ’s technically than mine but I maintain that the mistakes I made with mine made for a more interesting image :)

Early mourning is so calming and peaceful. The fog that has shrouded the landscape is slowly lifting. Nature seems to be in slow motion and hush. Sit and enjoy what God has gave you. Let nature enfold completely, your whole being, completely covering you with its serenity……..Cades Cove GSMNP

My new wolf friend was determined to teach me how to howl after our shared lunch. He very “tenderly” took half of my sandwich from my offering hand with his mouth, lay it down on the ground and ate it layer by layer, slowly and savoringly, unlike my dog River, who would ALWAYS “wolf down” whatever is offered to her! :) So now he set out, just a few feet away, raised one front leg a tiny bit for emphasis and howled. I got down on all fours, copied the posture and did the same. Obviously he was a little dissatisfied with my learning so he repeated the whole thing another time. And this time he was happy with his pupil. What a patient teacher I had! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada

Beautiful dawn light at Wembury on the South Devon coast. The multi-coloured lichen covered slices of bedrock jutting out of the sea at an acute angle in the forground give clues to the geological composition of this Special Area of Conservation.
