  • The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

  • The lone figure on top of a sand dune!

  • I drew these fig trees near the Art gallery of NSW and close to the Boy Charleton pool. Sydney has lots of these trees in its many parks. I drew it in pencil from life.

  • Took this at Kings Park. Took 3 exposures at -1, 0, +1 stops and then combined them in Photomatix Pro. I completed the image in CS2. Thanks for looking.

  • Featured in In the Pink / / Moreton Island eastern beach

  • There were two versions of this painting, one with the background and one without. This particular version won a significant prize a the annual Society of Equestrian Artists event in London some years back. The painting is pure soft pastel on Canson paper, and is a scene from an event at Moreton Morrell Agricultural College in Warwickshire. This really shows off the enormous and exciting range of colours in a horse, from strong bright oranges to greens and purples.

  • Early Evening In The Garden Of Good And Evil was shot at approx 9pm at Elkington Park in Balmain, Sydney, in the company of millions of mosquitos and batches of bats. Lighting was provided by park lights out of frame to the right. Since being Featured Art by Redbubble and in the Night Photography Group, this work has become one of my most popular images on RB. It is also one of the works I am most proud of, especially as I had no set shooting agenda before I arrived at the location of this magnificent tree, a favourite spot. • Earth Watch tonight 8.30 – 9.30 Australia, turn off your lights for 1 hour :) / before photoshop colouring it was just a pencil sketch as above / / / Mother Nature a pencil drawing on paper / i’ve coloured this in photoshop this drawing came about while I was holidaying on an island off the Qld coast recently, I was there when the oil spill happened, and a cyclone threatened to disturb our lovely rest….but as it happened, we were not disturbed by either of these events, and were lucky enough to connect with dolphins each and every day, this is from my latest “Connection” series, it’s about our connection with creation and every living thing, especially the beautiful dolphins of Tangalooma.. I hand fed the dolphins and Tinkerbell, a mother dolphin gave me what i like to call 5 dolphin kisses to the hand. I also encountered the other dolphins called Echo, the 2 baby dolphins, one named Phoenix and it was a really special time for me. Dolphin facts I learned at Tangalooma: . Baby dolphins have hair and whiskers…they have a hairy growth on their fluke/tail and they have whiskers on their face, so that their mother knows when they are going to suckle…it tickles her and she can get into the right position . The pack of dolphins at Tangalooma have given many gifts of fish and / things like eels to their feeders and the staff their, which are in a glass display case with the various stories . The baby dolphins ‘play’ with puffer fish…they annoy the puffers til they PUFF and then toss them to and fro on the surface like they are ping pong balls . Dolphins chase their prey upside down . Many dolphins get entangled in fishing line and makes them unable to feed properly, as it gets around their fluke and around their mouths….they eventually die if they don’t receive intervention . The males get into packs and they fight for dominance, the stress of this shortens their lifespan, so the females actually live longer . A baby dolphin suckles for the first 18 months and does not eat anything while suckling…during that time the juvenile dolphin learns to hunt, they are not born with these skills, they are learned. . A baby dolphin suckles approximately every 10 minutes . Other dolphins in the pack protect the baby dolphins while the mother dolphin feeds, etc . Dolphins are mammals and share many similarities with humans…. / they can see well above and below the water :) . At Monkey Mia in Western Australia where they also feed wild dolphins, only the male dolphins come in to feed now, they have bullied the female dolphins so that they don’t come in to shore anymore….

  • This massive Moreton Bay Fig Tree in Hyde Park, looks to be shedding tears at the loss of limbs. This picture required a disciplined approach to scale – no need to show the whole tree, but need to show enough to provide real context. • In the late fifties Foden, a well established and respected lorry manufacturer, realised that they had to offer new improved models if they were to maintain their independence in the face of takeovers and absorption by the larger manufacturers. Traditionally Foden cabs had been of composite build, a timber frame clad with aluminium panels but now Foden decided to move into the use of fibreglass for its new cab design. First unveiled in 1958 the S21 cab with its elaborate curves was quickly dubbed the “Sputnik” by the trade press but lorry drivers almost always referred to them as Mickey Mouse and many S21s survived by virtue of being corrosion-free. Like many a haulier Moreton C. Cullimore started out with a Model T Ford in the Stroud area of the Cotswolds in the 1930s but here, in the 1960s, one of his sizable fleet of Foden tippers threads its careful way though a Glouchester village while in the background a Midland Red single decker approaches its bus stop. The original painting in oils on a canvas board 20”x30” is for sale at £1000. E-mail mike@transportartist.co.uk

  • This is one from my recent trip with Glen to Moreton Island where we were witnessing a great natural spectacle. Do I really need to say anything here…..just look at this landscape and soak it in. It is a large tidal pool where we enjoyed the silence and absence of civilisation. For those of you with an iphone, I have 100 of my "best" in an application called "ifolio". I had the privilege with 49 other photographers of being selected for the launch of a new iPhone/iPod Touch application which is now available for free on iTunes and Apple Store. iFolio is an application created specifically for iPhone and / iPod Touch, which aims to provide a pleasant / and liquid portfolios of various artists (photographers, / artists, graphic illustrators, ...).
