sunset at Morecambe bay England
Morecambe …. These lights at the funfair on Morecambe seafront struck me as a little sad …pointing in different directions int he wind and losing their ‘petals’ one by one…

This image was made along Morecambe’s promanade one evening, just before sunset. Im amazed to see so many variations of light over the bay, every night is different. Ive found taking pictures along the bay in any weather can give good results, with grey and over cast pervect for black and white. I love my work to be saturated with colour. This evening, i found that colour :) Thanks for taking the time to look. Stevie

One of a series or works using Morecambe Bay as the backdrop. I’ve always enjoyed creating these fluid shapes.. the wife got sick of me drawing on her floral wallpaper in the lounge.. so it sort of seemed appropriate to throw my “fluid” shapes out over water. Does it have deep inner meaning ? Is it a bold statement about injustice in the world ? Does it comment on the human condition in the 21st century ? Is it protest born of China’s invasion of Tibet ? Is it comparable to some of the great art works of our time ? Will Nasa take it to Mars ? Probably not… Am I bovered ?

Just for a change of scene and style, I thought I’d upload this photograph of St Patrick’s Chapel in Heysham, North Lancashire. The chapel is thought to date from the late 8th century and thus can’t be directly founded by St Patrick but local references to Patrick would indicate that he did have some historic influence in the area. / This is pretty much all that remains of what was once probably a monastery chapel but alongside are a series of stone graves, hewn out of the bedrock and possibly of the same date – I may even put up a picture of those another time. / Indeed the adjoining “modern” church of St Peter (14th and 15th century but probably an even older foundation than St Patrick’s) is very well worth a visit and contains a ‘hog-back’ tomb from the 10th century – very rare and possibly the finest in the UK. As you can tell, I have ‘tweaked’ this one with some diffuse glow and added a sort of hand-tinted look – it’s an image that lends itself to a whole range of interpretations! Thanks for looking. Richard
This is the same shot as Golden sands shot but though I like the crop of that shot, I have given this an ammended crop losing half of the foreground, this crop I feel may appeal to some poeple, I like both versions.. / Originally shot from the promenade at Morecambe looking over Morecambe bay. / Given this a few filter effects… /

St Peters Church, Heysham, Lancashire. It is believed that a church was founded on this site in the 7th or 8th century. In 1080 it was recorded that the location was the site of an old Saxon church. Some of the fabric of that church remains in the present church. The chancel was built around 1340–50 and the south aisle was added in the 15th century. The north aisle was added in 1864 when other extensions and restorations were carried out. At that time an Anglo-Saxon doorway was moved and rebuilt in the churchyard, and two galleries which had served as private pews with their own entrances were taken down Its location on the rocks above Morecambe bay is quite spectacular and photographed here in Early Spring the churchyard is gorgeous carpeted by crocuses.
