A very simple image, less complex than my other seascapes but so striking, I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy and this has the back remains of Mordor stone washed clean Gandalfs trailing beard and the forces of Light over Darkness! – pure Bulls#8t but it works for me. See, the Influence of the Dark Stolk Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens

Hallgrimskirkja, in reykjavik is one of the most striking buildings I’ve ever set eyes upon. The surrounding buildings are very typical norse wooden structures, and then this “spaceship from Mordor” is something outragously special, and such a great place to wander around with a camera.
As the sunset bore on, it took on very dark and sinister tones making it look almost as if someone had set the very sky on fire.
All you can see are the silhouetted outlines of the pulleys and a distant tower block set against the blood red sky.
Juillee here is a pic of the dark tower at the top is the mirror which gives the light that shines from Mordor. I hope there is a light in Mordor but it has been about twenty years since I read lord of the rings. My memory is an image of a dark mountain with an evil light coming from it a red light maybe. Maybe the Nazguls are vain and like to look at themselves in the mirror In real life the mirror is golden in color and quite striking and beautiful at times
This image was taken from Meads Wall on Mt.Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park of New Zealands North Island. / This scene, from this exact spot, was the scene used for Mt.Doom in Mordar, for the film “Lord of the Rings”. / This location is in the National Park on the North Island of New Zealand. / Sadly, I waited for 45 minutes for the cloud to lift, but this was the best on the day. After I took this, the cloud really settled in, and you couldn’t see anything. =============================== click here! if you want to see the whole collection so far in this portfolio.
Another image from my Fires of Mordor series Taken near Fyffes’ house, North Bay, Kaikoura, massive storm over head, not quite enough gap to let sunrise through, very powerful image none the less. Knee deep in the sea to get closer to the breaking wave, wearing my trusty fishing waders and rock bags on the tripod. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter. photomatrix and photoshop.
December 27th . Sections of river within the grand canyon receive little or no direct sun . We imagined this is what Mordor would be like.
From Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” Watercolor and watercolor pencils.
