Original for sale A Painting within Painting 12×3 x 36 inches One of the repeating themes in my life is the way we as a human species have ‘affected’ the whole world environment in our negative impacts as an exosomatic species that uses up energy in a way no other species can be said to have done. From the way we burn and use stored energy in fossil fuels to the mining of our soils and the population of the planet putting stress on the environment. It will have consequences. I do think there is now KNOWLEDGE and CHOICE in a way that was not possible previous. The question is whether or not we ACT on that knowledge as a collective consciousness. I have some hope that could happen. The iconic leaf tree represents the Tree of life…...as a single leaf reflecting on the unity that is needed to achieve ‘garden of eden’ status on our planet. Are we ready as a species…...? There is always hope. The tree is surrounded by the energy of change and the love of wild places is evident in the symbology employed. I prefer to consider our future bright and perhaps for humanity to have less negative impact on earth i think change is in our tomorrow. Big change…...and i do believe a change for the better. UPCOMING EXHIBITION / Walkabout: Art Worlds Converge It will be the first time we have had an exhibition in our new home town of Moravia New York and will be an opportunity to put our works on show for the first time to our new friends and acquaintances in this part of the Fingerlakes. A collection of paintings and photography that spans about 2 years since i arrived in the USA that we have created in our home studio. This is the Painting within Painting of the I am Dragonfly…....the night version of the image …...... as it appears when the lights are off. I love to paint with light…..i do wonder how many people have to paint with the lightswitch close by so they can SEE what they are doing in the dark…. I am not really tapping out code with the light…... but in order to see it must be dark it is a paradox that fascinates me. The dragonfly is a wonderful creature to observe…. One of the reasons i decided to get this exhibition up and happening is i have lived in this community here in the Fingerlakes for a year now and lots of people have been asking me to do an exhibition…... I guess the time has come. Along with that there’s only so much time to produce before the need to ‘spring clean’ comes around…..I was collecting a body of work just for that eventuality and found myself at that point. It is also time to show the paintings within paintings ...... i do NOW wonder what the viewers will think and feel…..... I LIVE with the paintings and so a lot of the effect has been reduced as a reaction….....
