“Good afternoon Gentlemen. Our delicious Chinese restaurant serves some of the greatest Chinese delicacies. Can I take your orders?” Jermaine takes charge as usual. “I imagine you can sir. Well my friend will have special fried rice and I will have special sweet n sour chicken. Could you make sure it’s especially sweet n sour though? Thanks sir.” People love to eat Chinese. More often the meals though…for the appetisers may prove too fattening over time. Neville and Jermaine have definitely had their share of fattening up over time. Neville is said to eat more Chinese than most Chinese and as for Jermaine, he probably eats more of most things than most people. “Jerry, don’t you think it’s strange how he mentioned they serve some of the greatest Chinese delicacies?” Jermaine who finds nothing short of highly unusual strange, makes a joke from anything less of great importance. “_Why_? What did you expect in a Chinese Restaurant, Indian food?” Neville who hears these jokes more often than not (but still not in appreciation of them) seems to always be misunderstood. “No, I mean, we’re not Chinese. I can’t see anyone in here that is Chinese…In fact I would say that the only Chinese this restaurant ever sees is on the plates. So, they could get away with telling us that this restaurant actually serves the greatest Chinese delicacies. Why would they not?” Jermaine’s opinion always went back to philosophy. “Some wise advice I have for you Nev. Never question the Chinese.” Something about the way the duo talked, it was utter enjoyment. The puns continuously employed emphasised it. A certain kind of pleasure whenever they accompanied one another was unleashed. “Oh Jerry, you got to hear about what happened to my cousin. _You’ll never believe it_…So Ben was in Amsterdam for some time, on holiday or something. Well on the last week he jumped off the top of a three-storey apartment balcony.” Jermaine who believes most things reasonable, but also hesitates in jumping to conclusions always feels obliged to question the situation. “Why the hell would anyone do something like that?” Neville started blushing. He was never as outgoing as Jermaine, even being questioned made him feel slightly insecure. “Well Jerry, you know my cousin Benjamin. No one questions him.” A certain kind of tension was building somewhere between Nevilles growing timidity and Jermaine’s pursuing nerves. “I think anyone thinking about jumping off the third storey of an apartment should be prepared to answer a lot of questions.” There was an uncomfortable short-lived silence between the duos. Neville thought of it as his responsibility to protect his cousin’s reputation, yet his loyalty had previously shown to lead to misdemeanours. Neville decided to break his loyalty for what his reason was telling him was sensibility. “Yeah Jermaine, agreed. Benjamin sure must be a moron hey. Oh, which reminds me, did I tell you he is going to become a lawyer?” The Chinese waiter had brought back the dishes. This is possibly the fastest time a waiter had brought out dishes (which were supposed to be quality cuisines). Then again, Jermaine and his friends always had their doubts about Chinese restaurants. Over their many meals they had discussed many things ranging from the health issues to the political and economic consequences of the different restaurant franchises. The Chinese waiter did not talk this time. He had a chilling frown cast upon his face. Perhaps he had heard their talking? Perhaps it was just the all-round atmosphere of working in such a demanding service. Jermaine and Neville dug into their meals, each choosing their pick of chop sticks and spoon respectively although ironically not in quite a disorderly manner. It was only lucky that Neville chose a spoon for the fried rice to prevent any more mess (if more mess were possible). “So Nev, back to the story; now that you tell me Mr. Benjamin wants to be a lawyer…that makes much more sense; their all lying bastards. This is one big story to you in order to gain your sympathy or something. It can’t really be explained, except that he is behind it all…” “Not true. I saw his bandages and cuts and sores; everything. That can’t really be faked.” “I’m sure for a lawyer, anything can be faked. Any kind of falsehood can be created and unleashed by those guys!” “No seriously. Okay here’s the story, he said he went to a party. He got pretty drunk knowing it was his last week. Who knows maybe he even did…goddamn man it’s Amsterdam! I don’t have to mention the possibilities, their limitless! Anything could have happened. Well anyway, he woke up and that is when the nurse told him what had been reported to her.” “You know what this sounds like? Chinese whispers. She said this; he said that, you say this…” Sceptical Jermaine could never let any possibility go. “Okay whatever, whatever.” Neville had enough. This sort-of-debate had turned into a sort-of-argument. It was time for him to try and change the mannerism of things “Hey Jerry, this kind of talking is probably not good for eating, let’s just eat okay. I mean just the other day I saw the scars and bleeding…well you know.” Eating continued. Polite (enough) slurping of Chinese tea and rice among other things died down the sound of thought. Than Jermaine continued speaking, but not where they left off. “Hey Nev, I’ll be back in a minute. Just have to convenience myself!” Neville sat there. Five minutes boring his intellect- no one to talk to! Jermaine returned. Back to his meal; back to messy eating and the hope of more polite interesting talk. Before Neville had seen it, Jermaine had finished the rest of his special sweet n sour. “Hey Neville, are you still feeling hungry at all?” Before Neville had a chance to reply Jermaine had beckoned the waiter over and ordered “Special Chinese fortune cookies”. The cookies came in no time at all again. It made it seem like there was surely something efficiently magical about this restaurant. “Hey Nev, can you tell me about this story a bit more. So would you get this, I actually heard about a story similar to his; actually two stories, exactly like his…they both sort of were like these crazy stories where these things happened to guys in…well Chinese restaurants actually!” Neville was only half listening, except the information was still unconsciously processing into his mind. He opened his fortune cookie. “No I do not believe it! Coincidences of such do not occur! Madness unleashed!” Neville started shaking intensely, trembling, his usual steady figure rumbling in what looked like fear; his skin pale and pupils dilating and goose bumps on his skin forming. Than he shoved his hands over his head and continued his fearful actions half-hidden by the table. Jermaine grabbed the little slice of Chinese paper, it must be not so fortunate whatever the fortune be he thought! “You will suffer falling three-storeys tonight. Do not question the Chinese” They both sat there; Jermaine seemingly doing and thinking nothing except watching the actions of Neville. Neville with his behaviour turning more and more intense and shocking as seconds progressed and turned into minutes. “Neville!” Neville took no notice, for a moment, to only a moment later reply, “What? Don’t you fucking get this? Can’t you see what’s happening?” Jermaine looked at his watch. Five minutes. Long enough…longer would be dangerous perhaps. “My good friend Neville. I have a confession. I put that note in your cracker…it’s to teach you a lesson really. But it’s also quite a cracker now too to think of it! You should have seen the look on your face! And my friend, I’ll tell you the moral of the story…Question anything with suspicion, even the Chinese, otherwise who knows what will be unleashed!”

I am sure that I am a moral person – at least I think I am / / I cannot help but wonder though / / Would I steal if I was hungry, or if all but I seemed rich? / / Would I have stood apart in Germany while Hitler rose to power? / / Or been an icon of virtue if advancing with the Red Army? / / Am I sure I would have protested when white Australians took this country? / / Could I have been (like Jefferson) an owner of slaves? / / Would terror come easily to me if my nation were occupied? / / Can I be truly sure of my morality? / / Is it mine at all or simply that of those around me (for which I thank them) / / And a product of my own good fortune ? / / And, perhaps this is a step too far, / / Did Christ die not only for my actual sins / / But for the ones I may have committed if born in a different time and place? / / And looking at it from a different angle / / Can I be truly sure I am as moral as I think I am? / / What sins am I committing that my cultural glasses barely let me see? / / I suspect I know them at least dimly – our duty to our earth and to truly love / each other (even Africans) / / Sounds more like an indictment than an excuse. /

In my previous journal i got a very interesting comment (you can check it here) from DataShine He said ART does have boundaries (i said ART didnt, maybe im to naive?)... and this boundaries are set by society. Society itself is a boundaries. I couldnt say NO to this, cause though i dont accept this, i cant deny its truth… Until a certain point. I think it depends on the “moral objet” (or purpose) of the act of creating art wether you chose to live by this boundaries or cross them and be complete free (both of this options are right, again, it depends on your purpose). For example! If you pretend to sell your pieces, or exhibit them, you may want to follow society preferences (to please the mayority). If you dont care about fame/money/reputation, you can do whatever you want. I truly believe human beings are not completely social. A part of you acts according to society’s rules (such as moral and ethics), but our freedom allow us to be unique and to act according only to “our rules”. This acts may be refer to ART, a free form of expression. And maybe thats the magic of art! Thats why so much people feel good doing it! Thats because it passionate us! Cause we can CHOOSE. We can feel free (and i dont know you, but i do feel free when i write or take photographs).

First off, let me start by saying… This is for the ‘lost lambs’ of the world. This is for people who are not necessarily amoral, but for those who feel lost, abandoned, alone and maybe even feel rejected in some way? It is for people who are perhaps searching for something; an answer to one, or many of their questions perhaps? Or, perhaps, it is for those who are or who have been, searching for the answers they seek, in the wrong places? This is for those who maybe don’t know how to ask the right questions in order to get the right answers? It is for those who act like they ‘don’t give a shit’; when in actual fact, they really do! With you, all of you, I would like to share a few of my thoughts, opinions and ideas! Well, I am here to tell you that I too, am a sinner! I do not deny it, but rather embrace it; after all, it is what makes me human! Don’t get me wrong, I do not condone sinning; but, unfortunately, it’s something we all do and have to face up to. When we do, we have apologise, ask forgiveness and face whatever consequences which result. Sinning keeps us humble, or should do, at the very least! We make mistakes and I should hope; learn from them! I too, was a ‘lost lamb’ with a ‘dark soul’! (still feel I am, from time to time!) I too, have questions that I want or need answered but the answers I seek may never be found, so I may just have to learn to live with it and without them? To me, The Bible is more of a ‘moral guideline’, than anything else. It was written by men let’s not forget and because men are renowned, firstly for having hidden agendas and secondly for being mistaken often; we cannot merely ‘go along with’ or listen to everything The Bible has to say. The Bible, as a moral guideline, is in my opinion, a very handy little thing to have around when it comes to certain things; like, for example, instilling the essential lessons of ‘learning right from wrong’ or learning how to treat others, in order to all get along in a more civilized manner. As it is, the world we live in today is so changed; we need to have this ‘moral guideline’ around, all the more! But because ‘the church’ and its teachings are still stuck in what some might call ‘the dark ages’, ‘the church’ and its teachings don’t really seem as relevant today; and therefore, they’re losing favour! People are turning away! Maybe, just maybe, ‘the church’ should to consider a different approach? (Just so we’re clear… It doesn’t say anywhere in the bible that it is a ‘moral guideline;’ nor did I say, that it did. This is just the way I choose to view it.) When considering the whole ‘Religion’ vs. ‘Spirituality’ thing… I feel, Religion is for those who are scared of going to Hell. Spirituality, on the other hand, is for those who have already been there and thanks to whatever saved them; can make whatever necessary changes to live a fuller, more happy life! As far as ‘Heaven’ and ‘Hell’ are concerned, I think they are both right here on earth, my friends! ‘Heaven’, is all the ‘good’ we do, hear, say and experience; even if it’s thought to be somewhat mundane! Ever heard of the term and powers of ‘positive thinking‘? Ever heard of the expression, ‘smile and the world will smile with you‘? Smiling, in itself, is just a little piece of ‘Heaven’, it contains the power to make one ‘happy’ and thus; if we feel happy we feel alive, content… like nothing could or ever will go wrong. We feel, what ‘the good book’ describes, as being (or feeling) like ‘Heaven’! The opposite applies for ’Hell’; but I need not tell you that! Have you ever felt that your life is; as the expression goes, like ‘Hell’ or like ‘Heaven‘? Have you ever considered the possibility that you alone, make it so? Have you ever thought that, through your thoughts and actions, you influence your life? That you, make your life ‘feel’ like ‘Heaven’ or like ‘Hell’? I know I have! I know these statements to be true for me, because I (like many others) had to learn ‘the hard way‘, through some pretty tough experiences! Indeed, a little bit of ‘faith;’ in oneself and believing that something or someone bigger than us truly does exist, goes a very long way! ‘Faith,’ is what we all need, regardless of who or what we are or what we do or say! To believe in something, gives that ‘thing’ power and influence over our lives! Some of you may already know this, but for those of you who don’t, I say try it! Try ‘positive thinking’ or having a little ‘faith!’ What’s the worst that could happen? You try, you fail, you pick yourself up, brush yourself off and keep on walking (with a bottle of dear ol’ Johnny in hand, if need be? Although I wouldn’t recommend it, if indeed, that’s what caused you to fall in the first place!) What I’m trying to say to you, my dear friends is, you alone (along with a little faith and ‘positive thoughts‘ to guide you), have all the power, will and choice you need, to make your life what it could very well turn out to be; absolute ‘Heaven‘! As I wrote earlier, a little faith goes a very long way!! And of course, my dear friends, there is one more little thing… it wouldn’t hurt to read occasionally! Even if you were to open ‘the good book’, randomly select a page; I guarantee, you’ll find something worthwhile contained within the page on which your eyes gaze; those words, whatever they may be, will no doubt help guide you on any particular day! There is a reason for everything… and for me, it’s Him; ‘He who is greater than me!’ Never lose faith my dear friends! If you lose that… you lose everything! I am an artist by choice and trade, so some might say this is just a bit of ‘creative writing’! My proofs, may very well be considered vague, lacking in substance and generalised. That is your right, your opinion; I welcome both this fact and your opinion! As I stressed, on more than one occasion (if I’m not mistaken?), it, or those mentioned are MY opinions! We all know that one thing, may not necessarily work for another! I, being an artist, left ‘my post’ a bit vague and lacking in substance purposefully, I left it ‘open’, so as to allow for, different interpretation. I refer now, to a quote, ...”I am interested in the type of encounter between a viewer and an object that provokes an emotional reaction of alliance between viewer and object. ...The art object is always a creation of an artist (or a collective or a collaboration); the art piece does not attempt to say the truth in the all-encompassing meaning of the word, but rather the subjective stand point of the artist.” (Roy Rub – ‘You Are Here: A Few Thoughts about Alliance’) Okay, maybe I did not write what I wanted to say in quite the right way? ...I was merely suggesting that men had a lot to do with the actual ‘writing’ of the bible (in my opinion); many added to it, through ‘talking’ or being exposed to Him. And, men being men, might have added a little more; a little ‘spice’, for added ‘zing’… that maybe suited them? Have you never questioned this? To those who tend to think this ‘piece’ is vague, generalised and or misleading… I see where you’re coming from, but still I question; was it, indeed, written by Him? Or was it written by His followers who were exposed to Him and therefore, so believed in Him… and thus, wrote about what he had to say… in order to share it with others? As an afterthought… I have this to add… “People and their thoughts, are like paintings; so varied; / And like paintings; it’s a matter of personal taste, / That makes you decide whether to like them or not. / If we do not like them; we might learn to appreciate them.” - My words, my view. Our diversity is truly an amazing and wonderful thing!! / Although I do believe The Bible to be a very good thing to have around, as it has many an important lesson contained within; I do not entirely agree with all that is written within it! That’s just another thing that, maybe, makes you different to me? Did he not give us the minds we have, with the knowledge that we may one day question? ...I do not mean to belittle The Bible! I am merely asking questions that I’m sure many before me, have asked. It’s nice to have something around that people can place their faith and or believe in and find guidance from! Finally, I’d like to say… I need no book, I have Him! I have faith! That’s really, all I was trying to say! Some may ask, “How can you believe or place your faith in words written by men and not the express word of God?” Well, I ask… How can you or I believe in, something or someone we as humans, cannot see? As for questions that go unanswered… I cannot say! It is not for me to say! All I do, is share my understanding of this vast topic with you and hope that you’ll walk away with something afterwards! When it comes to MY questions… I need not have any answers, most of the time I question for questions sake! Why must we always have answers? Can things not… JUST BE?!

  • On Competition and T-Shirt Designs

It is my belief that the t-shirt aspect of RedBubble has not yet reached its potential. What t-shirt designers must remember is that here they are competing with a superior aesthetic quality in wall art. The photography and visual art which produces wall art is of a far superior quality aesthetic value than t-shirt designs. High resolution prints can be easily achieved by said artists, while t-shirt designs will always be of a lesser quality because of the material they are printed onto. Thus, trying to make t-shirt designs compete with the wall-art side of RedBubble in aesthetic value is too daunting a task to be overly successful. A picture produced for aesthetic quality is one which draws-in viewers because they simply ‘look good’ to them. It is here that there is a severe disadvantage in aesthetically pleasing pictures – their message, if any, goes totally unnoticed. People looking at pictures want only to be pleased, and so the people producing pictures choose only to produce pictures to please. This appears to be the basis of the wall art side of RedBubble. This is also where t-shirt designs should be utilising a strong advantage. Humans, although wanting to be pleased by beauty, also have brains – therefore they also wish to think. It is this wish for thought that will, eventually, see t-shirt designs being able to compete on a level with wall art in RedBubble. T-shirt designs must appeal to the thought and intelligence of people – filling the gap left by wall art – and propose, above all, a message. This message is achieved by an alienation effect. The alienation effect is where a viewer is forced to be distant from the aesthetics of the design, and instead looks upon the message being presented – thus filling the aforementioned thought void. A t-shirt design must, therefore, not aim to be above all aesthetically pleasing, but to propose a message. Simple pictures and wording, with little minor detail, and still some rough-edges will force any viewer not to look at a t-shirt design for it’s beauty. However, if the aforementioned aspects of designing are used to propose a message, a viewer will think about said message. If the message is strong enough, then the t-shirt design will be popular. T-shirts have the advantage of being a revolutionary tool. Anyone wanting to get out a message will sooner sport a t-shirt with the message than put a print on their wall, because more people would see the t-shirt, and thus the message. While wall art is used for personal satisfaction, a t-shirt design may be used to communicate a whole chain of thought; to propagate a message. It is in this way that t-shirt designs will become more popular, as more people appreciate the message they get out, and thus more people will want to get out said messages. I so conclude that t-shirt designs must not aim to trump wall art for aesthetic value, but instead alienate a viewer in order to present a message or thought. If t-shirt designers are to produce designs to be popular on the level that wall art is, then they should follow the guide of this journal entry, and so create a specific culture of thought and intelligence to surround the t-shirts of RedBubble.

I never drink diet coke, or any coke…but they’re giving away money. the BF’s friends made this video (I don’t know them, they’re from QLD) but it’s very funny. they’re also good actors, so if they win, they’ll be putting the money towards another short film. The recent decision by Radiohead to release their new album with a user decided cost ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2007/10/03/bmcolumn103.xml ) has made me wonder about art and its perceived value in general. The media has gone crazy on this story, musing on whether this will effect the future of the music industry in general. Will most people pay for this album and reward the artist, or will they happily consume it as a freebie? Would you pay for something you didn’t have to? Is it just plain stupidity to pay for something you can get for free or is it an ethical question? I think this issue ties in quite nicely with the issue of “security” that comes up on RB occasionally – the idea that consumers can simply right click and save a copy of your art. Early indications from the Radiohead camp say that “most” people are paying for the album. Most! That means that given the choice of freebie or payment, many are choosing to pay for art. I wonder how much this means for us, as artists. Does being fair and allowing the responsibility to rest on the consumer instead of controlling it by restrictions and watermarks, actually make people act ethically!? Why are most people paying? Is Radiohead’s attitude on this point the reason people are choosing to pay? By standing their ground ethically, does this roll over onto the consumer? A kind of contagious morality? I think this makes people think about the value of what they are paying for and receiving. There are always going to be some people who want everything for free and will right click and save your work or download the album for free. But were they ever going to be your buyer?

Jeanette The Backward Koala / Chapter 1 The Birth Once upon a time in a land down under, there was a birth on the eve of another great / birth. / Jeanette was born into the family of George and Judy Osgood, the Koalas in the far east eucalyptus tree that stood higher and prouder than most in the region. / Several of their neighbors said they would stop by to see the journey of the baby to the mother’s pouch. / No one showed, but little Jeanette still made that journey on December24, 2008. / After the journey, everything was quiet. Then one morning, Jeanette poked her teddy bear like head out the pouch and greeted her mom and dad with a smile and a sudden urgency to explore the world outside the safe haven of her mother’s pouch. / When she climbed out, her mother became alarmed and yell, “George, come see your daughter, there is something wrong!” said Judy. / George climbs in the home with a mouth full of leaves and speeds up the chewing process to swallow quickly to answer Judy. / When George entered the room, there stood Judy and Jeanette. / George could not believe what he saw! / Jeanette’s back was facing George; there was her pouch, right smack in the middle of her back. / Now, a normal Koala has her pouch in the front, this unique situation has never occurred in the long, proud history of the Koala generations. / Jeanette stood there just smiling, not knowing how different she was from not only female koalas, but all marsupials. / The doctor was called, within a few minutes Fruit Bat shows up, he is wearing some prescription sunglasses. / “Now what seems to be the urgency to get me over here at this hour, these non-nocturnal house calls can get pricy,” said Dr. Squibb. / “Please check our daughter and tell us things will get better,” pleaded George. / The doctor puts stethoscope to his ears and listens to Jeanette’s heart. / “There is nothing wrong with your daughter,” states Dr. Squibb as he takes a big yawn. / “Look at where her pouch is,” says Judy. / “I am glad you pointed that out, because I completely overlooked that,” says Dr. Squibb smiling. / “What can be done about this?” asked George. / “About what?” asked Dr. Squibb. / “The Pouch!” says Judy in a stressed voice. / “There is not much I can do, other than that special gift that God gave her, she is perfectly healthy,” replied Dr. Squibb. / Both George and Judy look much stressed at the doctor, then at one another. / “Look, she is not a freak of nature, there isn’t a Rhino horn growing out of her forehead. And I will use a phrase I‘ve been waiting to use that came from the land up yonder, from those silly Americans, It is what it is, good day,” stated Dr. Squibb in his best Paul Harvey voice. / “We know, but what will the neighbors think?” Judy says while shifting her eyes back and forth to the Doctor and George. / “Everything will be fine honey,” said George in a reassuring voice. / As Jeanette grew, the stares and under the breath comments from the neighbors were becoming more apparent. / Soon Jeanette had to start school, on her first day, she was waiting outside for the bell to ring. The other Joeys were starting in(sometimes Joeys can be so insensitive). / There were seven other Joeys at Marsupian Elementary. / “Hey everyone, check out the Koala, she has a pouch, but it’s not where it’s supposed to be, it’s on her back,” said Bartholomew, the Tasmanian Devil in a loud screaming voice. / “What’s your name, Koala?” asked Bartholomew. / “My name is Jeanette,” she said. / Jeanette, Jeanette, has a problem for the vet, her pouch is on her back, so she hasn’t seen it yet,” said Brian and Ryan, the Wombat twins. / When a Wombat can poke fun of another animal, you know there is an issue. / “Leave me alone,” Jeanette said in a shaky, tearful voice. / Jeanette could no longer take the abuse, she ran inside to the classroom. / “What’s wrong little one?” asked the Clouded Leopard. / “No one wants to be my friend, because of my stupid physical deformity,” answered Jeanette. / Jeanette turned around to show the Leopard her problem. / “I am Miss Waffle, your teacher, you must be Jeanette,” said the Leopard. / “You knew who I was, is it because of my deformity?” asked Jeanette.3 / “No, it’s because I knew there is a Koala in my class this year,” answered back Miss Waffle. / Soon the bell rang and the others entered the classroom, they were all staring at Jeanette. / “Class I notice you are staring at Jeanette, you know it is not nice to stare and poke fun of someone else because God decided to make them different. I am going to send home with each of you for your parents to sign. / I shall tell then how mean you have treated another student. Most of the time when someone pokes fun at someone else, it is out of jealousy,” said Miss Waffle in a scolding tone. / “Now I want everyone to apologize to Jeanette for their behavior,” instructed Miss Waffle. / “We’re sorry Jeanette,” said the class. / “For a reason unknown to us, God made her special, and one day she will do something that will show why she is how she is,” said Miss Waffle. / “A lot of Marsupials are on the endangered species list and one day may become extinct,” said Miss Waffle. / “What does extinct mean?” asked Bartholomew. / “I know,” said Rex the Bushtail Possum. / “Please tell us,” said Miss Waffle. / “That is when you don’t bathe, you start to extinct,” answered Rex. / “No, no, that’s not!” shouted Cher, the Honey Possum. / “So, Cher, you have the correct answer? Please tell us,” said Miss Waffle. / “It’s when you did stink, but took a bath, so you got rid of the stink, now you are extinct,” answered Cher. / “Is there anyone else that wants to give an answer to this?” asked Miss Waffle. / “I know,” said Jeanette. / “Okay Jeanette, tell us all what you believe extinct means,” said Miss Waffle. / “It’s when an entire population of a certain living is gone and will never exist again. Such as my own kind and Miss Waffles kind are on the list,” answered Jeanette. / “You’re right on both statements Jeanette,” said Miss Waffle. / “What happens to make a living thing extinct?” asked Daisy the Kangaroo. / “First it is the reduction of our natural resources, humans are the biggest contributing factor, but there are also forest fires. Then there is an introduction of new predators in our area such as humans with their pet dogs, whom we’ve tried many years to communicate and come to some kind of truce with. / And one last thing, we are vulnerable to many diseases,” answered Mrs. Waffle. / “That’s enough on this subject, now we will practice our ABC’s and 123’s,” instructed Mrs. Waffle. / The class settled in and the lessons went quite well. / As promised the teacher sent home a note with all the Joeys explaining the insensitivity they had displayed to another Joey with a birth defect. / As the Joeys gave their parents the note, the parents made it clear that they were very disappointed in their Joey’s behavior. / The next morning, at school, Jeanette was not picked on, in fact, she was totally ignored, she wondered which was worse, a Koala roast or being an invisible ghost. / When they all entered the classroom, Jeanette felt as if she were public enemy number one. / All the Joeys were well behaved during class time. At recess, Jeanette stayed inside. / “Why aren’t you playing outside with all the other Joeys?” asked Mrs. Waffle. / “None of the others will play with me, they won’t even talk to me,” Jeanette put her head on her desk and sobbed. / “That does it, I will call a conference with their parents and put a stop to this non-sense,” said Mrs. Waffle. / “Please don’t, things will get better,” pleaded Jeanette. / “Okay, I will give them a week to treat you equally, then I will put a stop to it,” agreed Mrs. Waffle. / “Thank you, Mrs. Waffle, I know I could be a very best friend to any Joey or all joeys here if they would just give me a chance,” said Jeanette as the tears continued to flow. / “God in his infinite wisdom put your pouch on your backside and one day it be used to serve its purpose,” said Mrs. Waffle. / After school, Jeanette went straight home and to her room, here she cried a little more, but was cheered up by the sound of the Kookaburras who shared the same tree. / Kookaburras always sound as if they are laughing, but it is really cackling. This is where they have earned the nickname, ‘The Laughing Jackass’. / Jeanette hears a knock on her bedroom door. / “Are you in there?” asked Judy. / “Yes mom, I’m in here,” answers back Jeanette. / “Let’s go out to eat, we’ve been invited to dine at one of the finest Eucalyptus Trees in our community,” said Judy with anticipation. / “No thank you mom, I just want to stay home and in my room, I don’t feel so good,” said Jeanette. / “Do you feel sick?” asked Judy as she touched Jeanette’s nose. / “You nose is moist and cold, no sign of a fever,” stated Judy. / “I am not sick sick, just sad,” replied Jeanette. / “What can I do to cheer you up?” asked Judy. / “It is something I have to deal with on my own,” answered Jeanette. / “My little girl is no longer a little girl,” commented Judy as she kissed Jeanette’s forehead. / “You and Dad have fun,” said Jeanette. / “I will bring you back a doggy bag,” said Judy. / “What!, that could be dangerous!” said Jeanette in horror. / “No, that is something used to put food in to take home, just an abstract expression,” explained Judy as she chuckled. / “In that case, thank you mom,” said Jeanette in a relieved voice. / That night, after Jeanette reads a chapter from When Nature Calls, a story about different animals becoming best friends. / Jeanette kneels down beside her bed and sends a special prayer to God, “Dear God, please help me become a best friend and find my special purpose in life so I will be loved and accepted by all, thank you for listening.” / Once again, Jeanette was ignored. Jeanette decided to accept the fact that she would never quite fit in with the others, even though they were odd looking characters themselves. / After school, Jeanette went straight home and to her room, come to find out that the Kookaburras were actually laughing at her. / This discovery hurt very much, so decided the best thing to do would be to run away. / She packed some leaves in a bag, the next morning, she would act as if she were going to school, then high tail it out of the community forever. / Jeanette woke up the next morning with a knot in the center of her stomach. But was convinced she was doing the right thing. / Just as she passed the other Joeys playing together, she rounded the corner, then bypassed the school. / She now felt the lump go away and smiled as she kept increasing the distance between her, the Joeys, the school and most of all her problems. / The school was the size now, it would fit in her pouch, she thought, then went sad because she never really seen her pouch. / As she stayed hid on the outskirts of town, she heard some female yell for help. / There were a pack of dogs that had a Tasmanian Devil mom and her two Joeys stuck in a tree with nowhere to go. / Jeanette thought about Bartholomew at school, how mean he had been to her, so she decided to ignore the cries for help. / Then she thought about Mrs. Waffle saying she had a special purpose in life. / Jeanette realized it is her chance to help someone and make a difference. / Jeanette drummed up the courage, then ran toward the sound, jumped on the back of the first dog, scratching it the best she could, then leaped frog across to another doing the same thing. / She reached the tree, one of the dogs grabbed her left foot attempting to pull her to her doom in the middle of the enraged group of dogs. / With one last swipe across the dog’s nose, the dog let go and scampered away in pain. / Jeanette’s left leg was severely damaged, but she continued to climb the tree. / At last she reached the mom and her two babies. / “We haven’t got much time, hand me a baby, then you and the other baby climb in my pouch so we can get to a safe place,” instructed Jeanette. / As soon as Jeanette was able to get them to a safe and familiar place, she collapsed from the pain and badly wounded leg. / The mom ran inside the building to get help for Jeanette. / Mrs. Waffle came out and discovered it was Jeanette that was injured. / Mrs. Waffle called the Marsupial’s Mercy Hospital where Jeanette was taken to be cared for. / Bartholomew stood there laughing. / “Whatever happened to her should have attacked her stupid pouch instead of her leg,” commented Bartholomew. / All the other Joeys began to laugh. / Bartholomew’s mom grabbed him by the ear with her teeth and made him submit and listen to what happened. / “If it weren’t for her, your two brothers and I would probably had been eaten by the pack of dogs that had us trapped in a tree,” said Rita, Bartholomew’s mom. / “You mean she saved you?” asked Bartholomew. / “Yes, don’t tell me she is the same one I got the note about from your teacher?” asked Rita. / “Yes mom,” answered Bartholomew. / “You better hope she is okay, how dare you judge someone else who may be different, God made her this way, for just that purpose, to save us,” commented Rita. / “Okay class, no more school for the rest of the day, I expect to see you all at the hospital supporting and praying for the recovery of our classmate, your homework will be to write and tell me what you have learned from this” instructed Mrs. Waffle. / The class agreed that this would be a lesson to learn from. / That night at the hospital, Jeanette was in the recovery room from surgery, she was still groggy, but could see all her classmates surrounding her bed. / “I believe I speak for the whole class to say how sorry we are for how we treated you and if you could forgive us, we would all love to be your best friends,” said Bartholomew in a humbling voice. / Jeanette had tears streaming down the sides of her cheeks, “I forgive you all and would love to have you all as best friends.” / Jeanette went back to sleep and slept for the next twelve hours. / The next morning, at 11am, Jeanette was released from the hospital to the care of her mother. / On the way home, Jeanette began to speak, “I had a dream of all dreams that everyone in my class loved me now and they all wanted to be my best friends.” / Judy smiled and spoke back to Jeanette, ”I have found a doctor, a specialist who can put your pouch where it belongs and there is strong chance you may then be able to have babies.” / “When can it be done, this is exciting,” said Jeanette. / “One thing at a time, your leg has to be fully healed before we can have your pouch fixed,” replied Judy. / “I can’t wait, then maybe everyone will accept me and love me,” said Jeanette. / Judy and Jeanette arrive home, Jeanette hobbles on the leg with the support of crutches. / Judy opens the front door and Jeanette enters first. / “Surprise!” yells all her classmates, their parents and Mrs. Waffle. / “It wasn’t a dream!” yells Jeanette. / Jeanette is the center of attention with hugs and gifts from everyone. / After the party, as she is helped to her bed, she asks her mom a question, “Mom, would you be mad or disappointed if I didn’t want the surgery to fix my pouch?” / “What made you change your mind?” asked Judy. / “Now I am loved for who I am, no need to change to try to fit in,” explained Jeanette. / “You have always been loved, now others see what your dad and I have seen all along, the real inner beauty of you,” said Judy. / “Good night mom,” said Jeanette. / “Pleasant dreams,” answered back Judy. / Judy leaves Jeanette’s bedroom and closes the door behind her. / “Dear God, thank you for showing me my special purpose, most of all thank you for the way I am,” said Jeanette. / The End

Redbubble is an incredible site to share your feelings, opinions and talents. I fancy the different categories that users can submit works into. I notify as many people as I can about this awesome web page. / However, lately I’ve been seeking some positive thoughts conveyed with the t-shirts. I’ve seen some fantastic messages in clothing such as ceasing global warming and even the talents of an artist. But, some I’ve seen encourage war and violence. / I think this is not something people in this Redbubble community wish to be known for. I think this is not something that Redbubble in a whole would want to get known for either. / I love this website and all of its innovations but I just wish that more good morals should be shown on t-shirts.

I found an interesting work of art at an Ann Arbor yard sale. Took me two years to figure out the creator of that pencil and ink piece: Maude McVeigh Hutchins (4 Mai 46). Maude Hutchins made her name as an artist during the 20s, 30s, & 40s. Around 1950, Maude Hutchins began a successful career as a novelist. Her themes generally regarded sexual awakening. Maude Hutchins died in 1992 aged 102. Her novels are enjoying resurgent popularity. Before 1948, Maude Hutchins had been married to lawyer Robert Maynard Hutchins for 27 years. At age 30, in 1929, Robert M. Hutchins became the youngest president ever (still) of a major American university: U of Chicago. R.M. Hutchins remained in that capacity for 21 years before becoming the director of the Ford Foundation. He initiated educational reforms, many adopted by other institutions. Hutchins (who probably could have been president) was a pacifist who ironically became the principle contractor ($400 millions worth) in the creation of the first atomic bombs; he was the only civilian outside the Pentagon that officially knew about the Manhattan Project. You may recall that the first sustained chain reaction (Enrico Fermi 1942) was initiated under the abandoned U of C football stadium. Hutchins’ U of C contracts also included operation of the Oak Ridge, TN plutonium factory (WWII). After Hiroshima, Hutchins spent the remainder of his life opposing the arms race (died 1977). My fascination with Hutchins springs from his secular philosophical view of morality. From the time of his appointment as the Dean of the Yale Law School onward (mid 20s), he grappled with society’s need for moral education. Hutchins’ pointed out that the scientific method does not give us the knowledge or wisdom for how to manage science; it is something only a moral education can achieve. Nearly all of his efforts to inculcate morality into academics (outside theological schools), and later into corporate thinking, failed. I find Hutchins philosophical view interesting because I understand that a person’s moral view is a much higher standard than one’s minimum legal responsibility; and I can see that living merely to a minimum legal responsibility will not sustain the fabric of society— yet it is the trend. The problem for morality is that it is like both gravity and the very essence of life: we all know that it exists, but none have yet quantified it scientifically.

Fucked if i know… but ill try to help. I mean the thought has run though my own mind and i may even have vocalised it like an attention seeking whore. Where were you all on that one! Maybe i can draw on this experience to help my friends sister who tryed to hang herself. She will get no help from her family, i know them too well. So is blood thicker than water? probably depends on how black your blood is. But why dosnt her fucking cunt of a brother help. Where is her mother? and farther? Ill tell you, the heads are firmly planted up there arses. So now im left with feeling like i somehow have to hlpe this girl. Shes a nice person, but unfortunatly , like so many, got caught up in the wrong crowd, made friends with the wrong people. Which is an easy mistake to make. The “cool” people, and there mirage, will suck you in with the feeling of belonging and befor you know it, your life if muddled beond recognition. / So i ask you ,if i turn my back on this , pretend its not happening, would i be a considered a selfish prick?. Looking down on my self, i would say i was. / Sould i be helping at all, im not exactly a roll moddle for people. Or should i be lighting a fire under her brothers arse. I mean if it were my sister or any of my close friends, i would do anything, literly anything. And i know one day this will be put to the test. / I’m pissed off with society’s lack of moral judgment in general. As long as its not in our face we dont give a fuck. And that sucks my friends. / i shall continue this rant later…......

I am tired of hearing about the virtue of family values. How dare anyone that has been married, divorced and remarried but claiming to be a fine Christian (aside from the violation of his oath to remain faithful and loyal until death to the first wife) tell me I am not a moral person because I don’t worship his or any other god. I have been married to my wife for over 33 years and see no reason to not remain with her. My children were not brought up having a religion force fed to them, but have a clear sense of what is right and wrong and know that doing what is right makes the world better one person at a time. Morality is doing what is right over that which is wrong. It is moral to help others and immoral to cause harm to them. It is immoral to steal and kill. It is moral to treat people with respect and dignity. Whether clothed or unclothed, people can be moral. Morality comes from being willing to rise above the animal instincts and placing the welfare and desire of others over our own if need be. Morality comes from within. It is not something I would want a police officer to enforce. My observation of the Christian right is that they want all temptations for sin (books, magazines, art, dance, etc.) heavily regulated by the government. Are the Christians so feeble minded that someone else must restrict their access to viewing nude art? What is wrong with making resisting temptation the responsibility of the individual? Can anyone explain why bare breasted men in public is considered OK, but not bare breasted women? Why is prostitution illegal in most states, instead of being regulated (to limit STDs) and taxed? Why is homosexuality such a big deal? In the animal realm (in which we belong), as population density increases without an increase in the resources needed to sustain it a corresponding requirement to curtail offspring production arises. This can be expressed in several ways, infertility, a die off, or homosexuality. Our cities do not contain sufficient resources to accommodate all who live there by themselves, resources are transported into them. The normal means of population suppression should take place, thus infertility and homosexuality have arisen. Modern research has shown there are significant differences between the brains of heterosexual and homosexual people, so choice is not a the reason for a person to be homosexual (it is biologically forced). There is no reason to discriminate against homosexuals. Health care in the US is a cruel joke at best more often it is a nightmare. Patients get no care unless the the treatment. is not going to harm the profit of the insurance company. Insurance companies have the right to refuse to treat “preexisting” conditions, which further reduces access to care. Health care will continue getting worse unless the government steps in and does what is most needed, taking it over, eliminating preexisting conditions clauses from the policies and mandating universal coverage. This increases the pool and makes coverage affordable. No one should be denied proper care! Many Christians fail to recognize that our government is supposed to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. Government needs to remain secular in order to serve all of us.

Tonight went to see to very talented and vastly underrated female singer songwriters, Joan Coffey and Thea Gilmore. Both of whom can actually write more than three or four words to a line, tell a story and not have to remove most of their clothes to keep your attention for more than two minutes. The venue, The Duchess in York seemed to have a open policy regarding taking photos. And now here is the ethics and morals part, my camera was in the bag and there it stayed while others were snapping away, flashes going off, so the question is why did it stay in there? The only reason I could give my friend was i had not asked permission to take the shots. That it felt wrong to take the image of the artist on stage with out asking. And yet I have no such hang ups about taking street shots. Does any one else have a strange ethical or moral line they do not cross?

  • Human Rights - Attention All Australians....
    by Wendy Slee

Attention to my Aussie friends here on redb…

Attention to my Aussie friends here on redbubble. What does the phrase “Human Rights” mean to you? I recently attended a round-table discussion and workshop with a Human Rights consultation group, something which motivated and inspired me to think more about what Human Rights means for me as an individual, and for the future of my children and all Australians. I thought I would share this information as it effects all Australians and I know there are so many of you here on redbubble who think deeply and care about our rights as individuals, as Australians and as part of a global community. Submissions are being called for from people across Australia and can be emailed or posted in until 9th June 2009. So please consider checking out this website Take a moment to read and reflect upon the three questions asked there (and summarized below), and having a say on the future protection and acknowledgement of our rights. / The National Human Rights Consultation provides the opportunity for you to share your views on human rights. The Consultation is run by an independent Committee. The Committee is supported by a Secretariat in the Attorney-General’s Department. / The Consultation is a chance to hear people’s ideas about human rights and talk about ways to protect and promote human rights in the future. / Key Consultation Questions / • Which human rights and responsibilities should be protected and promoted? / There are different types of human rights – which ones are important to you? Rights protecting individuals from the abuse or misuse of power by authorities? Rights to access services like legal counsel or housing? Rights to maintain or conserve cultural identities or languages? Rights in the workplace such as striking or collective bargaining? Some rights can be seen to intrude on other rights (for example a common debate is between “the right to life” and “a woman’s right to choose”). Which rights should prevail when there is a tension? / • Are human rights sufficiently protected and promoted? / Sometimes we don’t think of our everyday problems as human rights problems. Do you have any personal experience where human rights haven’t been or aren’t protected? Do you know someone who has had a human rights problem? Do you live in a community where there are human rights problems? For example, do you know of a situation where people have had their access to education or healthcare limited on the basis of their age or a disability? Do you know of a situation in Australia where there has been no effective solution to a human rights problem? Do you know how human rights are currently protected in Australia? And how this compares to other countries? / • How could Australia better protect and promote human rights? / The Committee is considering: - a legal framework to protect human rights (or Human Rights Act) / - Parliament voluntarily respecting human rights / - human rights awareness campaigns You can share your views by making a written submission either online or by post before the 9th June 2009. / Your views and ideas will be documented in a report to the Government. The Government will then consider the report which will help the development of future human rights policy for Australia. For more information please go to this site THANK YOU!

KFC and how it handles chickens ...

KFC and how it handles chickens It’s just … just …. Animals are our responsibility, you know? Have dominion over the Earth, said God. Well, when you ask “How could God let this happen?” keep this in mind. This is not an isolated case, and this shite doesn’t only happen to animals either, but, even if it did – even if humans were never treated this way by other humans, which we all know they have been and are, this is what we show Him. “This,” we say ” is how we believe creatures under the dominion of another, more intelligent being should be treated.” “Okay,” says God. “Then, as you are under the dominion of Satan, I’ll let him go to it. It’s what you think is best for creatures in your position, after all.” Get it? Animals are thinking, feeling creatures with their own social orders, languages, and they are souls. It says so in the Holy Scriptures. No, they are not the same as Man, but, nevertheless, they have souls. It is not wrong to kill them for food, if you need food. It is wrong to hurt them for fun, or for profit, or to waste their flesh once you have ended their life, or to gorge on them and fatten yourself on the deaths of other creatures who are also souls. Guess where I won’t be eating?
